'MotionEaze'- Anyone tried this? Update Post #39

True test: someone who gets easily sick using this and riding Mission Space: Orange. I braved green & was okay but orange would kill me.

I felt sick on the green side. I think the key here is that people with motion sickness have different levels of severity and are bothered by different types of motion. Also, my first sign of motion sickness is a terrible headache, like I am being stabbed in the forehead. I don't even see that in the definition posted. I always worry that meds that focus on the nausea (like ginger) would do nothing for the headache which leads to the nausea :headache:

Two Summers ago my sister and I left on a car trip to Texas with my 3 nieces (at the time they were 7, 5 and 1). A few hours into the ride the 5 year old started barfing (car sickness). We stopped, cleaned her up, and thought all was well... then she started barfing again. We thought we'd have to turn around and go home, it was bad. She's one of those kids who wont take a pill, and so my sister stopped at a Walmart and bought Seabands, MotionEaze drops and Dramamine. She wouldn't take the tiny pill, she thought the bracelet hurt and so we put the drops behind her ears and hoped for the best. Low and behold it worked! We made it the rest of the way to Texas without a single drop of barf. LOL We used the drops on several other car outings until we got smart and started breaking up the Dramamine and putting it in her fruit punch. That works wonders for her. We still use that method on her. LOL

But yes, the drops behind the ears definitely work. They smelled sort of like a cross between mentholyptus and ginger.

I never got sick as a child and teen, but get sick on almost anything that moves now as an adult.

I discovered this a year or so ago and can ride anything and not get ill.

The biggest test I did was a ride called Howler at Hersheypark. I rode this once with my son at the beginning of the year when not using it and made a straight line to the garbage can to have my , well you get the picture.

But, after I found it and applied a dose I went on with my son and not only did I survive the spinning ride, I was spinning the car as fast as I could in the direction of the ride spin making is a double whammy. I got off the ride with no ill-effects, not one bit of nausea and my son who never feels sick on anything looking kind of green and the boy's mother not too please. I then proceeded to ride the Fahrenheit coaster 3 times and tada, still no bad feelings. I have purchased a few bottles at Walmart and always have one with me when I go to any park.

Since I started using it, I have ridden all types of rides from simulators, to coaster to spinning rides and never once gotten sick. I am a firm believer in the product and will recommend it to anyone who experiences motion sickness. :worship: :cool1::woohoo::cheer2::yay:

I just want to thank EVERYONE that has posted a great review of this product! Makes me feel so much better!!! Jiminyfan, how many times did you need to use it at the park? Normally, we do a 'big ride' followed by a 'small ride', just because of how the flow of WDW is... EXCEPT for DHS. We have gone back to back RnRC and then ToT (:scared1::eek:)... so I'm thinking that I'll have to use the drop before RnRC and again before ToT. I'm totally fine with carrying the bottle around with me and will use it as much as necessary. Call me your everyday 'pack-mule' :lmao: And in all honesty, the only rides I would NEED it for would be RnRC, ToT, TT, Soarin, Nemo (for that part with the spinning bubbles), Splash, Space, Thunder, EE, Dino.... that's probably all. Oh yeah and the plane ride.... We're staying offsite this trip so I wouldn't have to worry about the Dis bus... I think this is going to be a great option this trip! Have we started a revolution? HAHA I bet their stock is going to shoot up :rotfl2:

I'm glad they worked for her, but please tell your sister to look for the chewable Dramamine. It is orange flavored and tastes fine.
The ones you swallow taste BAD! They are small but they start to dissolve as soon as they hit your tongue. They would be terrible in juice, you can't cover the flavor of them YUK!

I get that headache too. In fact, I suffer from migraines and often after a rough ride my brain will hurt waaaay before my stomach. Still, I'm hoping that by helping to balance the inner ear the headache might be lessened.

That's how it always is for my son and my brother. I'm going to look for this MotionEaze stuff the next time I go to the store and I will try and remember to come back here and let you know if it worked for ds.

My approach to using it is as follows. I usually apply a few drops behind each ear as we start our day. The package official directions state apply 5 minutes before your activity and apply as needed.

Then for rides, that I know will affect me (Tea cups, Everest - the backward motion is not my best friend) I add one or two more drops right before the ride. Another thing that I forgot to mention is that if you forget to apply or you do not have enough on (whatever that is) and you start feeling nauseous - take off the lid and take a nice deep inhale and the ill feelings dissipate within a minute or two. I personally love the smell, so this is not bad at all. :thumbsup2

I think I may overdo the applications, but I would much rather play it safe than be sick for hours on end.

Last trip, I did my normal application before RnR, went through single rider (10 min wait or so total) three times in a row and never added more and never felt ill.

The bottle is small in size, but goes quite far. On a two week trip I usually still have some left, unless I forget to tighten the lid and it leaks. Yes, that happened a few times, but the side affect is I had a constant smell of it! LOL
Package state 20 applications per bottle, but I think you can get a few more than that. Also, remember back to back rides do not always require more. Most times an application will last hours for most rides.

I am hoping everyone has the same benefits as I do as it really changed my ride experiences and enjoyment as I now can share the thrill rides with my son again! I still rode them before, but then felt horrible for a good bit afterwards, now it is ride and enjoy.

I also appreciated not feeling drowsy or in a fog after use. Dramamine always put me to sleep.

If you have any other questions, just ask. From checking around Walmart is the cheapest place to buy in our area, but that may vary.

Thanks and have a great trip.

THANKS!!!! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: now I just hope that by not taking Bonine this trip I still am relaxed enough (read: foggy...) to ride the big scary rides!!! I don't think I was in right mind when I rode ToT... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VnfomXAawk :lmao:

I tried this stuff out yesterday and today on our ride to and from camping.

I had no funny feeling, which I usually get before the nausea sets in, or nausea!!

I think it really does work!! Although, I'm afraid to give it a real test (a ride or driving in a small car as the passenger). Once I get motion sick, I'm done for the rest of the day!

I love the smell too! :)

I am waiting for my order....should be here in a few days. I am visiting WDW in two weeks and will test it there...but I am really testing it with an eye towards a Disney Cruise in February. I like that the idea that I can use it in addition to Bonine.

I'll post back a review when I return.

I too bought Seabands for our trip to USF in January and found them to be totally ineffective. :sad2: I also tried ginger gum and felt no difference.

Yeah, I've had no luck with the "natural" relief from motion sickness, so I'm intrigued by the descriptions here. I had to have the Transderm Scop for the longest time, and it wasn't until I forgot to put it on before leaving for Spain that I realized I could do without. I generally have mild side effects from drugs, but I definitely don't miss the dry mouth that it caused. I have been using meclizine most recently, but I'm interested in trying something that works right away, and especially something that works for the motion simulators, because those are still terrible for me. I'll have to go look for some next time I'm at Walmart.

This sounds interesting. I am going to buy some, sit in the backseat of the car and have DH drive me around to test it. I hope it works. I would like to get off the Less Drowsy Dramamine if I can.

I tried it while on one of our cruises and it didn't seem to work for me. Bonine works much better for me. I did not like the smell of the motioneze and unfortunately on the plane ride home, it opened and spilled all over inside my make up bag. I put everything liquid in little ziplocks before packing now!

Folks, thanks for all your input. I bought Motioneze at Walmart by the Dramamine. They had the sea wrist bands also. I'm going to try it at DW the week starting May 31st. I'll get back on here and tell how it worked. The Dramamine puts me to sleep and so does the non-drowsy Dramamine and Bonine. If I take a Bonine or two at night, I am drowsy the whole next day and can't ever really get moving like the high speed I always move at. If it is non-drowsy for anyone, they are lucky. If I ever have problems sleeping, I will just take a Bonine. ( :

I have a balance disorder (Menier's Disease) and I take MotionEaze to WDW. I used it on the tea cups and Soarin' and had no trouble. We took our first cruise on the Wonder last July, and it worked very well for me. The smell is now part of our Disney experience. Good luck!

I just take ginger pills and they help a lot.

I don't know if there are any Mythbusters fans out there, but they tested all of those products a couple of years ago on the show. They created a chair that just would spin in circles and they timed how long they could stand the "evil spinning chair". The only thing that helped any that got motion sick were the straight ginger pills. They didn't get sick with the ginger pills at all. All the other products really didn't help any of them at all. It was very interesting to watch -- just glad it wasn't me that was sitting in that chair!

I know the thread is old but I just wanted to relate my recent experience.
I was flying from NYC to Portland Oregon and midway through the flight I started to feel nauseas and woozy. I pulled out my little bottle of Motioneaze thinking if nothing else the smell might calm me. Lo and behold...I felt relief almost immediately. I was extremely surprised. For the record it really seemed to be the aroma that helped..not the application itself.

Has anyone ever tried MotionEaze? They're drops you put behind your ears to ease motion sickness. I normally take Bonine, and actually started another thread about that earlier... but it makes me SO sleepy! I was looking at this product and it seems to have good reviews other than the smell. Well, I'm a hippie :hippie: so weird herbal natural smells don't bother me :lmao:.

Any advice? THANK YOU. :cool1:

I wanted to update everyone...

I used MotionEaze on a car ride and purposefully tried to make myself ill (the things I do for the Dis...), just to test and see how it did. I COULD READ THE UNOFFICIAL GUIDE (you know that small print!) in the moving vehicle, while seeing everything rush by me outside in my peripheral vision and DIDN'T FEEL ONE BIT SICK!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited. I'll be using this on my next trip! I'm now worried though- when I took Bonine for all of my other trips it kinda... sedated me a little bit.... aka made me calmer to ride the 'big rides' like TOT and RnRC. This will be interesting- my true colors will shine through NOT being sedated. I told my DH to prepare himself... :lmao:

THANK YOU so much for this thread. Maybe my post will bump it up and help others. Though I don't get sick in cars or boats, I definitely get sick with spinning (even on merry go rounds!) and in front of high motion screens. Our first trip to Universal is next weekend and I was worried about missing out on the rides the boys would enjoy. I'm very sensitive to meds so dh and I were concerned about my trying dramamine or bonine. Going to run to Walmart today and get Motionease thanks to this thread :yay:
