Does anyone know of a website that rates the motion sickness of rides. I am especially wondering about the Space ride and Test Track at Epcot. Any other info would be great. ;)

I don't know about website ratings but I can give you Lisa's expert ratings if you like ;)

Mission Space rates an 8 on the motion sickness producer scale (10 being the highest)

Test Track rates a 2 :teeth:

For me, Test Track was a blast and Mission Space was a "done that, no need to repeat"

HTH

:rotfl: This another Lisa reporting :teeth: My DBF gets motion sickness very easily. To give you an idea, he got sick from being on the tilt-a-whirl at an amusement park last year. That said, We went on both Test Track and Mission Space and he loved both! He was even the one that insisted we go on MS a 2nd time! TT is a pretty calm ride with the exception of one part where you hit about 60. MS involves spinning to create the overall feeling of the take off and being in space, however, it is not something you would really notice, unless maybe you thought about it the entire time. I don't mind rides that spin and so when I was on MS tried to see if I could really feel the "spinning" part, but even with trying so hard, I couldn't feel that motion. I had a great time on the ride as well as my DBF. And he's already trying to plan how many times we can hit it on our trip in October!

Star Tours = 8 for me

Test Track = 3

Mission Space - I'll never know, after Star Tours, I'm not that crazy!!

I get about a 4 on the roller coasters, so I was surprised to be so affected in Star Tours! I even tried to focus on the edge of the seats, I didnt watch the movie AT ALL!! bleck!!!!!!! I took the non drowsy form of dramamine, but it didnt help at all!!

I know all about motion sickness. I get it on spinning rides, motion sim. rides(body wars, star tours, etc.). Having said that, I couldn't imagine getting motion sickness from test track. I did however feel nauseous during, and for several hours after MS. You just have to try it at least once. Good Luck!

I am not a Lisa, but :teeth:

star tours=9
mission space=7
coasters= 5
BTMR=3
Test track=2

I have problems at 5 or more.

Motioin video rides are always the worst ones for me..

I previewed MS before it opened in the soft opening stages. I got SOOOOO sick after this ride that I will never do it again. It ruined my entire day. My DH said they have tamed the ride a bunch and he even thinks I could do it without getting sick BUT that first time really did it for me. I have done Test Track without any problems - it doesn't spin. I can't do Star Tours either. I did Rockin Roller Coaster yesterday without any problems - it is quick and dark. Maybe it is the spinning thing for you?

Spinning does me in, too! Airplane flights, car rides, etc. are tough for me also, but coasters are no problem! Go figure! I can even get sick just turning my head to look at the kids in the back seat when we're driving on the interstate! So when we started going on cruises and went to Universal Studios I researched a lot and have found that Bonine works wonders for me. Dramamine never did do it for me, but if I take Bonine I can go on week long cruises with fairly rough seas and can ride most theme park rides without having my day ruined. I highly recommend giving it a try, but it is important to remember that you must take it before you experience the motion. It does not have the same benefit if you take it after the fact. I know I have 2 boxes ready to go when we leave on Saturday. Bring on Mission Space! I'm all set!

Anyone care to give a "rating" for Dinosaur at AK?

Maybe a 5??? It's dark and twisty and jerky...anyone agree??

I would agree with a 5 rating for Dinosaur :teeth:

For the sake of public safety, I will also rate the two most nausea producing rides for me:

Body Wars = 10
Star Tours = 9

HTH someone ;)

I agree I can not do the "movies" , I get motion sickness all the time but TT is a fun ride with no problems. MS I have done it a couple of times and love the ride but can't really handle it ( try it at least once or even walk through to the chicken out spot to see the cool stuff inside ). The other ride that it fun but quesy is Primevil Whirl in AK. A cm told me certain colors spin more and I beleive her. Dinosaur is jerky but I don't get sick at all. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

There isn't enough money to get me on MS again. I refused to acknowledge the hundred warnings and I paid dearly for it. But the good news is that I made it over to FRANCE before I threw up all over their country!!!! As for Test Track - no sweat, and trust me, I do get motion sickness.

Thank goodness I read this post :earseek:
My SIL insists that I would be fine on Star Tours (our daughters are obsessed with it and she is pregnant and probably can't do it this trip). Too bad for the girls b/c there is no way in h#$% I'm doing it after y'all are giving it a 9!!
I was nauseated for HOURS after Test Track  What got me on that is the high speed combined with slamming on the brakes. That's a killer for me.
Anyone who suffers from motion sickness and goes on MS, with all its warnings, is insane

I hope it's ok to laugh now because you cracked me up with this post!

Mission:Space is just plain different and difficult to predict. It is completely unlike Star Tours, Teacups, or any coaster. Some people with motion sickness do fine on it, and some people with no problems on other rides have a difficult time with it. You can try it or you can avoid it, but you can't classify it with just a number!

If I HAD to pick a ride that was similar, I say the "Scrambler" ride you see at many amusement parks. Although it is only a distant relative, I'd say if the Scrambler gives you trouble, maybe you should avoid M:S.

FWIW, I think M:S is great! Although it could be better (couldn't everything?), it does a fine job of giving the "astronaut experience" to average person.

What about Soarin' ???

This is a tuff call. If you get sick from huge wide screen shots where the camera is moving to make you feel like you are moving....although the ride does move too. I would put it at least a 5-6 maybe higher. Although it's been a long time I do agree that body wars was the worst. This last visit I didn't tolerate space moutain very well either. Test track is fine for me. Good luck.
