You have Menieres Disease? Coincidentally said friend does and has said he can’t/won’t go on the Incredicoaster but thinks the Tea Cups should be okay. He does have an A-typical case as he doesn’t have vertigo attacks but he does have attacks in both ears.
What rides do you avoid? Any insight on what foods are safe/low sodium. Any other tips or tricks on dealing with Mineries while at the parks? Especially dealing with the noise levels?
i cant do anything that spins (Tea cups, though I never did those anyway), merry go rounds, Dumbo, Roger Rabbit. I can do Remy and MMRR but only if I close my eyes at specific times, although Daisy's dance class kinda messes me up. I can do ROTR once a trip. No coasters. PERIOD.
i take mec every day I am at the park JUST TO MAINTAIN. That holds a lot of the constant movement at a tolerable pace. For me, it is just motion in general. I can't do more than six hours in a car and even at that, I still get cabin rockers and this is with medication.
Menieres is an idiopathic condition (it's a misnomer to call it a disease, as you don't "catch"it), they don't know what causes it and there is no cure. One simply must learn to manage it by researching what others have done and see if it works for you.
I dream about those dancing cars in Cars Land and always just go to watch them at least once per visit. They are fascinating.
For me, with my condition, the noise is also a huge factor so I wear Loops most of the time. I also have Eargasm plugs which are stronger. I don't wear headphone blockers as I must have on my matching Mouse ears!
Most importantly, as with any condition, KNOW WHEN TO QUIT. My afternoon break is critical. I have had it since 2018 and it took me several months to learn to manage it. I rarely eat park food but when I eat at HB, I ask for no salt on burger or fries. Its one of the few things they cook special as so much of the food is premade now. At my RDZ Fantasmic dinner, the chef made me a plain chicken breast which I rolled up in flour tortillas. In addition to Menieres, I have severe dietary issues so Its a fine line to walk.
Good luck to your friend with the Tea Cups! Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions. Menieres is not simply "motion sickness".
