motion sickness

I sometimes feel just a twinge of nausea on Dinosaur, but nothing extreme and it doesn't stop me from riding it. I have no issues with any of the other ones you mentioned. I can do Star Tours, but just have to close my eyes during pretty much all of it.

Out of the rides you mentioned, I get nauseous from Everest, RRC, and a tiny bit on Soarin. On Everest I think what does it is when it goes backwards. For RRC I get sick when it turns...it doesnt go upside down, but it twists. That gets to me.

With soarin, i suffer from simulation sickness so any motion simulator ride gets me a bit nauseous. Soarin isnt too bad but it still makes me a bit sick.

RRC & Everest are the worst for me. Ive only been on dinosaur once, i cant remember if ive felt sick from that one?

Mission Space....i've only ever done green, and it always makes me nauseous!
RRC goes upside down.

I have issues with motion sickness also. I do take meclizine every morning before going to the parks. I don't have issues with the ones you mentioned. I avoid Mission Space like the plague, and don't do Primevil Whirl. Star Tours is not good for me either, I do it once in awhile, but the last time it hit me pretty hard. With EE I have to ride in the front, the back makes me green when we go backwards. Everything else I am good with.
I rode Body Wars once, when I was 21, and had a cast iron stomach. I had never felt so awful before!

Love those rides, but I get motion sickness. Before every trip to Disney, my doctor prescribes Scop (scopalamine) patches for me. They are an antihistamine patch that you wear for about 3 days behind one ear. Works great, but it does dry me out, lol.

I have always been able to do roller coasters, but get sick when it comes to spinning rides (looking at you, tea cups) and any simulator ride (Star Tours, Mission Space). My dad is the same way, but also add in rides that go backwards, like Expedition Everest. Neither of us has ever had an issue on Soarin'. I don't think it is enough movement to really bother us. The ones I have known who have had issues on Soarin' usually have trouble with heights as well as motion sickness. Never had trouble on Tower of Terror, either. Drops have never bothered me, though. Dinosaur can be pretty shaky, and honestly I'm not a big fan of the ride, but it's never been a terrible ride that made me sick. If anything, I just felt a little "off" when the ride was over. In any case, I read on here about taking non-drowsy Dramamine starting 2 days before the trip. I did that and had absolutely no problems. In fact, it has worked out so well for me that on our last trip, I rode the tea cups multiple times in a row with absolutely no problems. One trip, they were sold out of the non-drowsy and I ended up getting less-drowsy. It didn't make me sleepy, but I also didn't think it worked as well at keeping me from feeling sick. Don't get me wrong. It was better than nothing, but I wouldn't have done the tea cups multiple times. Was still able to do the simulators with no issue.

I would try them and just close your eyes if you start to feel badly. That's what I had to do on Star Tours and once on Soarin (don't know why bc I've ridden 20 times without any problems). Also Simpsons, Forbidden Journey, Minions, and Spider-Man at Universal. That way you don't miss out if they don't bother you. Sometimes I'm ok and sometimes not, but I'm fine if I close my eyes. Dinosaur does not make me sick at all. Strangely, the only part of TOT that makes me the least bit quesy is the part riding through the "hotel" bc it's too warm for me, but it's quick. I LOVE that ride.

I was afraid of doing something that would ruin the rest of my day but I also wanted to go on all of the rides with my children. I got MotionEaze and put a couple of drops behind each ear every morning. It had a pretty bad smell the second you put it on but other than that I never thought about it again. I had no problem riding with my children but I did skip TOT just in case, I did everything else with them.

I suffer from pretty severe motion sickness. I can't even get on a swingset without it making me feel sick. Because of that I take a Bonine any day at Disney where I plan to ride anything more than the kiddie rides. It takes the edge off but doesn't eliminate it 100%.

That said I can manage BTMRR and 7DMT, but I can't do BTMRR too many times in a row and it's more bothersome at night. 7DMT the drop gets me a little but the sudden stop at the end gets me every time. But it passes relatively quickly.

Dinosaur I do fine on as far as motion sickness. It is jerky but it bothered my neck the first time more than anything. I found if I don't tense up on the ride that isn't an issue. Soarin' had me very nervous because I get sick just at IMAX theatres without any movement. I did take a Bonine as usual the day of this ride and I was absolutely fine on it. Not even the tiniest bit of nausea.

I have never done ToT, RRC or Everest, but I do know my DH, who doesn't usually suffer from motion sickness, said Everest was rough on him. My sister who has a little MS had trouble with ToT. But nothing that lingered after the ride.

Star Tours I have avoided as I was told it's similar to the old Body Wars ride and that made me sick for hours afterwards.

Also prone to motion sickness -- I commute in to work on a bus and have to take less drowsy Dramamine every single blasted day that I ride the bus. I have to do the same thing at Disney.

As long as I've taken less drowsy Dramamine, I am generally fine -- but I just can't do Star Tours, teacups, Space Mountain, or Mission Space. They make me really sick, even with Dramamine. I just can't do them. I'm fine on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Soarin'. I won't even try RnRC and EE because of the motion sickness -- even with Dramamine.

I've tried SeaBands and they didn't work well for me.

I usually get car sick but I can't think of any rides that make me feel sick. I even built up the courage to do TOT last trip and I was fine! surprisingly.

Rock and Rollercoaster though will get to me if I ride a few times in a row though.

This is starting to make me feel much better! I guess I will just try and see what happens. Hopefully nothing and I can enjoy my day. Peppermint has helped me a lot in the pass, so I will make sure I pack enough :o I am glad to hear that Dinosaur was not an issue as well. I guess I was worried because I can get car sick especially when Im sitting in the back of a jeep. I figured the ride would feel more like that....

I am very prone to motion sickness. I take Dramamine everyday to be safe on the busses. That said, I would avoid ToT and Star Tours, but I was ok with Soarin. I would just suggest establishing that you're not moving by periodically focusing on the floor during the ride and also the smells and other senses. I've never had an issue with Dinosaur, and I'm usually ok once with Everest - no more than that, though :)

I am also very prone to motion sickness, especially on anything that spins. For example, even the carrousel makes me queasy.

I don't normally have problems with roller coasters, though the backwards portion on Everest is a little iffy. As long as I take Bonine daily I'm good. I've never had a problem on Soarin' even without Bonine. I avoid the teacups and Primeval Whirl, even WITH the meds. I also can't ride Star Tours, well, I ride it because DD likes it, but I can't open my eyes. I got SO sick on Mission Space after it first opened (there was no choice of orange or green at the time) that I have never tried it again. I'm even afraid to try the green side, so DD rides that one alone, and it's always orange for her lol. At the time I thought Bonine was a miracle (I didn't get sick on the plane which was incredible, didn't get sick on the buses, I even rode the teacups and got only a little bit sick, so I thought I could do Mission Space too. I was wrong.) :crazy2:

I've always been a chicken when it comes to rides due to my motion sickness. I can ride collar coasters so I'm excited to try EVEREST, TT, 7DMT, and RRC. I have never done ToT, Soarin, or Dinosaur but I think I may want to. Any thoughts? Should I try medication prior too?? I don't want to ruin my day or afternoon feeling sick, but I'd hate to hear that these rides are not that bad. Has anyone else had these experiences or stay away from certain rides?

I get pretty bad motion sickness, very easily. Like the stars have to align for me to get off a rollercoaster & not feel sick to my stomach!

That being said...
Everest bothers me a bit. I usually go on first thing, after I've had breakfast and a motion sickness med, before the heat & hangriness of the afternoon hits.
Test Track doesn't bother me at all but it goes fast and there's some jerking.
7DMT does not usually bother me because the ride is very smooth.
RRC bothers me a bit, I'll sit out if I don't feel too well usually.

Tower of Terror bothers me because of the sudden drops. And I just hate the drops in general!
Soarin does not bother me AT ALL. I love it!
DINOSAUR AND SPACE MOUNTAIN ARE THE WORST. They ruin me for the rest of the day. Seriously I did Dinosaur last year a few hours after breakfast, prior to any lunch, and I had to lay down on a bench with a Sprite for an hour afterwards LOL.

I also hate anything spinny so Primeval Hurl is out, as well as the Triceratops Spin, the Teacups, and generally the carousel. I also avoid Mission Space.

I have bad motion sickness. I have found taking Dramamine helps. I will not do Everest ever again. For me it is darkness. I can't orient myself and that gets me. Everest goes backward in the dark. I also probably won't do space mountain (unless maybe I close my eyes through the lights so my eyes don't dilate). Not sure. I get queasy on Star Tours but probably will load up on medicine and try at least once this trip because it is so fun. I can do the teacups because again I can look out and my body can see and feel the motion at the same time. It definitely depends on how you react and what gets you. In general simulators are challenging for me but I really can't do darkness...

Personally, the only rides that I get motion sickness from are Mission Space, both Green and Orange); and Star Tours.

I read that if you close your eyes, you will feel even more nausea.

I rode Mission Space (Green) a few months ago, kept my eyes open, felt fine.

But...just in case, Mission Space gives out complimentary barf bags. I held onto one during my entire ride!! Thank God, I didn't need it (sorry for the TMI)

I get more sick if I close my eyes on a ride that actually moves, like the teacups or a roller coaster, or in a moving car. I get more sick with my eyes open on Star Tours because other than tilting back and forth the ride doesn't really go anywhere. It's the disconnect between what I'm seeing on the screen and the motion (or lack of motion) that makes me sick, I think. If I close my eyes on Star Tours I don't get sick at all, of course the ride is boring that way lol, but at least it doesn't ruin my day.

I suspect that I would be sick on Mission Space with my eyes open or closed but I'm not sure. I know the orange side spins so that's a definite sick either way ride, but I'm not sure what green actually does.

I can't even be a passenger in the front of a car without getting car sick, but was fine on Dinosaur (after my daily Bonine).
