DH gets wicked motion sickness. Especially on planes.

We've tried a few different things The transderm patches which makes him extremely tired, utterly useless and cranky! Not a good thing when traveling with 3 kids! We've tried less-drowsy Dramamine which makes him extremely tired and utterly useless! Just not cranky! Still not a good combo when traveling with 3 kids!

We need something new to try!

We've talked about ginger. But ginger is really only for nausea not the motion issues.

I'm thinking of getting him seabandz. I used them when I was pregnant with DS3 and they worked great!

I've also heard that marezine is great! What I read said it's the same effectiveness as the transderm patches without the drowsiness and very little dry mouth!

Any other advice or experiences would be great! TIA!

i went on a cruise a few years ago and the dr gave me a patch. it was perfect for me. i did not feel tired, cranky, or anything. Also i could tell the differnce oncethe patch was wearing down since i had to change it every 3-4 days. i would check with your DR and see if they can get you something. it worked great for me

You can try the homeopathic- Hylands Motion Sickness
The ginger really helps with nasea if you get a good one- New Chapter Daily Ginger works well for me :-)

Sharper Image had a motion sickness band that I used while pregnant...not sure if they make them or if you can buy them still but it works great. It sends little shocks into your wrist from a watch looking devise, slightly uncomfortable at first but I got use to it quickly and it worked when everyone else using pills and patches where still turning green during a sight seeing trip in Alaska on a small plane. Good Luck

When we went on a cruise for our honeymoon DH was afraid of getting motion sickness so he went to our family doctor and got a prescription for antinausea medication. I'm sorry I don't remember what it was called (we've been married 16+ years) but, I'm sure the doctor can prescribe something. My DH specifically asked for something that wouldn't knock him out. The pills worked and he didn't feel tired. My kids take dramamine for long car trips but, it does make them tired (at least they don't puke).

Good Luck!

I get terrible motion sickness, but the non drowsy dramamine works wonders for me. I DO NOT recommend the generic brand non drowsy dramamnine....both me and the husband were in la-la land for about 2 hours after taking it...not good when travelling with a 2 year old and a 10 month old!!!

My DH and I are Disneymooning next week and we got him a patch called scopolamine. I have cruised a bunch, but it is his first time and with all the hurricanes out there I am expecting high seas. My Dr. said the trick is to apply it behind the ear BEFORE boarding the ship, and then wash your hands thoroughly because if it gets in your eyes it can cause them to dilate. He said it would be useless if DH waited to "see if he get sick" like he wants to. It needs to be in your system before the motion sickness sets in.

I hope this helps.

Bonine is awesome. I get terrible motion sickness, especially when cruising, but I take the bonine starting 2 days before and take it every eight hours and it works great. It's chewable, so it's easy to take anywhere.

I tried the non-drowsy dramamine and it still made me loopy. We tried ginger tablets and swear by it now. We buy them at Walmart. The day before our flight we start taking one tablet in the morning and one at night. We continue this every day until we return home. My husband was especially susceptible to motion sickness. He hasn't had a problem since he started taking ginger. Mythbusters did a show about motion sickness and ginger ranked up there just under prescribed meds.

You can try a old sailors trick which is sometimes very effective........saltine crackers

Part of sea sickness is ligiud in the stomach..the saltines dry that up fast.

It is very effective with some people and is of no help to others!
