I get motion sickness easily ... can't read in a car... can't spin around - stuff like that. I know I definitely can't go on something like the teacups. I've read from others that I would probably be okay for Dinosaur. What do you think about Star Wars or Body Wars - things like that? Stay away? Any others you can warn me about? Don't want to feel sick all day b/c of one ride.

Thanks for the advice.

I can't do "spinning" rides (like teacups), but usually do fine on roller coasters (LOVE RnR). Honestly, Star Wars made me queasy! I even closed my eyes on the ride, and it didn't help!

Star Tours could make you feel sick, it is like when your reading in the car and the movement makes queezy. Body Wars if were open is worse...
Can you take something like Bonnine the day you will go to MGM, then you would probably be fine.
My son who turns green when we fly, but can ride in a car with no problems, did OK with Star Tours, but not with Body Wars.
Now he always takes a Bonnine every morning we are WDW and rides all the rides, except teacups, Mission Space and TOT with no problems at all.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

Bev

I too get motion sick very easily. I can't do the spinning rides or the simulation rides. No star tours for me, but I can do dinosaur just fine.

I tried Star Tours for the first and only time on our trip in June. I should have known better. Looking at a screen like that gets me every time. I thought I was going to be sick all over everyone in the ride with me.

DW has the same problem. Gets quezzy easily. Star Wars and Body Wars are no good for her. To help out, she wears a motion sickness patch when we go down now. She can do Dinosaur, Primival Whirl, Big Thunder, and Space Mountion now.

I can't do anything that spins and I won't do rollercoasters, but I have no problem with Star Tours. Although it jerks you around, most of it is visual. If it bothers you, close your eyes.

do you get sick riding backwards? I can't even ride the monorail backwards. There is a ride that goes backwards if that gets you too, don't want to post which and spoil it, just PM me if you need the ride.

I also get motion sickness easily-mainly in cars but also simply swinging on my boys backyard swings instantly makes me queasy. I DON'T get sick on the teacups (unless we spin very very fast lol), dinosaur, riding backwards or any of the coasters though.

Now on Star Tours I do sometimes get queasy, it varies. But I feel totally fine afterwards, the feeling goes away quickly.

I get motion sick every time I go to WDW. It starts at the monorail or bus, then continues on Dinosaur, Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion(who gets sick on that??) and all the 3-D shows. Forget any of the simulators--I don't want to blow my lunch. I can't even watch the kids play video games!

Clearly different things bother different people. I am the QUEEN of motion sickness, and only the original dramamine works for me. By the end of Dumbo I am getting a headache. I am scared to try anything more than POTC even with drugs. I have heard Dinosaur is very bumpy. My sis and BIL go on every crazy coaster at IOA with no problem but THEY felt sick after Star Tours! AND, I can't even imagine someone getting sick in the car and then riding BTMRR :confused3 . If you can start slow and work your way up do that, but I am not sure how that would work on simulators?? Have you tried ginger or drugs? I had a bad reaction to Bonine, but everybody else seems to LOVE it!

I get motion sickness too! Cannot read in a car, sit backwards on train/monorail, get queasy on swing at playground and have to take Bonine on airplane.

To my surprise though, I was fine on Dinosaur, twirly ride at AK, and do ok on teacups as long as they aren't manually spun alot! That, however, is the extent of my thrill riding! DO NOT LIKE ROLLER COASTERS....cannot handle the drops!

I attempted Body Wars years back (what was I thinking??) :scratchin Shortly after the simulation started I wound up getting off of the ride (I can't recall if the ride gave this option or if a CM saw me turning green and decided to stop it). There were black and white tv monitors in the holding area they took me to where I was able to see DH and DS inside the simulation.....that was cool! I know my own limitations and cannot handle simulation type rides!

A tip from my mother, a severe motion sickness prone person too, Avoid whatever the map warns you about. Dad and I thought she would be fine on the simulator rides like body wars, star tours, and sorin. She was willing after a while to try Star tours and Sorin. She was very nearly sick both times. For the simulators, if you could go riding through the woods on an ATV or snowmobile, bouncing turning, up hills down hills, you can ride these. If you get sick in the car on a curvy road, stay away. After those two rides not matter what we told mom, she stuck strictly to Disney's reccomendations on the maps.

So, I'm not the only person in the world that Soarin' bothered!! I do fine on most rides-it seems to be a vision issue with me. If there is a screen with video on it and motion scenes, I'm not going to do well. I even have to close my eyes during certain parts of Philharmagic. I can't watch my kids play their GameCube either.

I get sick on really spinny rides, but non-drowsy dramamine helped me so much at WDW. I was able to ride all the thrill rides (TOT, M:S, RnR, etc.) and M:S was the only one that did a little number on me, I just felt a little sick, not too bad, I was OK after a half hour or so. It was worth it!

Oh! I SOOO hope I can do Soarin in a couple weeks! I'm going to give it a shot. Star Tours is a big NO for me but I can do the other rides that people have mentioned - the coasters are okay and dinosaur and even Primevil Whirl. One thing I did learn on our last trip is that ONE time riding RnR is okay but DO NOT try to do it twice right in a row - i.e. ride standby and then get off and ride immediately again with a fast pass. That was BAD!!!!

Anther thing that helps is ginger capsules. I like those better than the drugs. Or, I have also found that mezcaline (sp?) doesn't give me that drugged up feeling as bad as Dramamine.

Have a GREAT time on your trip!!!

As previous poster had noted, I too like taking ginger capsules better than dramamine(sp?). My vote for the worst rides that made my stomach tingle in Disney where Mission Space and the Star Tours ride. I have not rode these again since using the ginger caps--I discovered those from a friend that recommended them for sea sickness. Worked wonders for me and no sleepiness :thumbsup2 Just my 2 cents----sp

I can't do Dinosaur, Mission: Space, Star Tours, teacups - pretty much spinning and simulation rides (like Star Tours) - and to be honest, I love roller coasters, but I got a little quesy on RnR.

Have you tried Bonine? It works much better than Dramamine for me.

I have EXTREME motion sickness. All the things mentioned before bother me. This was my experience...
-Dinosaur gave me no trouble at all.
-Expedition Everest was really fun, but I felt a little bad afterwards - not really sick. It would be worth it to me to do it again.
-Star Tours would have made me sick, but I closed my eyes for most of the ride. It was also really fun and I'm glad I did it with my boys. (They had no idea I wasn't looking.) I did take a peek every now and then.
-Mission Space - green. Bothered me even less than Star Tours. I was able to keep my eyes open much longer on this ride. The launch didn't bother me at all, and the cool air blowing in my face really helped.
-Muppets 3-D. No problems. Really cute show.
-Test Track bothered me a little on the curves and the last turn, but not bad at all. We even rode it again without me getting sick. Definitely worth it!
-Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin made me sick, but my 7 year old was "driving". We did quite a bit of spinning. YUCK.
-Space Mountain got to me a little, so I only did it once. I felt bad, but not really sick for a few minutes after it was over. My boys and DH rode it again, and I was completely recovered when they finished.
-Big Thunder Mountain ruined a night at MK for us. I had to lay down on a bench for the entire SpectoMagic Parade, then we had to leave the park. NEVER AGAIN!

Hope I helped!
