I'm super excited for dbf and mines upcoming trip in september! (Yeah, far away, but hey, whatever! I'm excited!) However, he gets REALLY motion sick. I can ride the tea cups 5 times in a row and not feel sick, so I have no idea what any remedies might be! I figured I'd ask the experts! I've heard about dramamine, but does it work? Were taking my moms motion wristbands that I know will work really well, but were kind of hoping that there is some sort of medicine he could take before the parks that would help too! Thanks!

Bonine works great! and it doesnt make you sleepy like Dramamine.
But i still wouldnt ride the tea cups 5 times in a row :rotfl:

Any over the counter medication may have unwanted effects on people. If you want more natural options, try ginger. The greater the ginger potency, the better. They make potent ginger candies, there are ginger cookies, I think they even have ginger tablets especially for motion sensitivity. They even confirmed its effectiveness on Mythbusters. If you choose over the counter medication, have him try it well before the trip to see how it affects him. Whatever you choose, take it as prevention, not remedy.

I don't usually have trouble with motion sickness - love roller coasters and thrill rides, but I've always had trouble with Star Tours. Huge Star Wars fan, but it always made me sick. Before I went this time, I did some research on anti-nausea pressure points because I didn't want to take medication just to ride ONE ride!

It worked great! I used one in the wrist, pressed my thumb firmly there just before getting on the ride and kept pressure until the ride was almost over. No motion sickness at ALL! As soon as I got off, I grabbed a fastpass to go again later! It worked the second time too!

You can find directions on how to find the spot pretty easily on the internet, even videos on YouTube.

We use the generic for Bonine (Meclazine). We take it once a day, starting the night before our trip. It works really well for us, with no side effects. You can get it usually right next to the regular Dramaine/Bonine.

I used Bonine and other then it tasting terrible (chewable was all I could find) it worked GREAT! I was able to ride all kinds of stuff without feeling sick. :)

I do this too, only I start a week prior to the trip and continue to take it for a few days after we come home.

Ginger pills work well. Little or no side effects. Can be bought OTC.

Thats so funny! I mentioned pressure point wristbands, and thats exactly what those do! You can buy wrist bands that arent TOO obnoxious looking, and they have a little ball that presses right into that spot! They work great!

And this is why I love this place! I'd never even HEARD of bonine and it sounds like it works great. So what it looks like is the poor guy will be taking bonine every morning, washing it down with a breakfast of ginger snaps, and wearing some silly wristbands :rotfl2:

Meclazine is the only thing that works for me too. The wrist bands and ginger don't help at all.

The only sure fire way I have found is to avoid the rides that make me the sickest. One ride on Space mountain or Star Tours and I am done for the day even after taking a Bonine. To me, I would rather just enjoy the 90% of the rides that don't make me sick, than to ruin a whole day by going on one of the 10% that do me in, even just once.

My boyfriend hates roller coasters but instead of having me go on TOT and RNRC alone he joins along :)! He says screaming helps him because it takes his mind off of whats going on and he focuses on the screaming! Hope that may help :thumbsup2

I use the Bonine as well. I forgot it on my last trip, and ran into 7-11 to get Dramamine. By dinner time, I was sitting at a table thinking, "Gee, I'm not 70, why was traveling so hard today? I could fall asleep right here and now!" Yeah, the Dramamine makes me tired!

My bonine routine was one chewable (ewww, gross tasting) at breakfast, before walking to the park, and then another one with my late-afternoon Dole Whip. When I neglected that later one, boy oh boy, me and Star Tours just did not get along :(

I tried the Sea Bands with "meh" results. Maybe they helped, maybe they didn't. I didn't notice much of a difference. (With morning sickness, though, they worked wonders for me!)

Has anybody had success with any of these remedies if your issue is drops? I don't have any problem with spinning, it's just drops. And even those don't make me nauseous, just very, very uncomfortable and the feeling can last for days afterwards. I have no interest in trying to conquer any big drops but I would like to be able to go on POTC at least...

Avoid spinning rides. No teacups, dumbo. I only get mild motion sickness and my issue is spinning/rides that go in a circle, I can not even do the carousel. I do not have issues with one roller coaster ride at a time. But can't do Space multiple times in a row.

I get motions sickness as well, but I have found Bonine to be a godsend.

Also, I always make sure I don't ride on an EMPTY stomach. That seems somewhat counter-intuitive, but that seems to work for me. I went on BTMRR on an empty stomach once first thing in the morning, and I was GREEN. We went on POTC right after that, and to this day, that pirate music still makes my stomach churn from the memory.
