Motion Sickness on FJ

If you have any doubt, or you will be there more than one day, I would suggest dong the ride at the end of the day so you dont ruin your whole day feeling ill. ;)

Mission Space (high intensity version) always upsets my stomach.
The Ginger route sounds like it is worth a try.

Just wanted to say we had a great time, rode FJ at least 7 times in two days - IT WAS EPIC - and had absolutely no stomach issues or queazies or anything at all. I had the ginger gum ready just in case. We did end up in the "secret" room at the end of FJ once and had to take the elevator back up to the gift shop. NO IDEA why, perhaps a wheelchair rider?, but it was very cool to be behind the scenes.

As for the rest of the park, loved the Mummy ride and Spiderman, and my dh rode Hulk. I actually managed Rip Ride Rocket once (yay me) and my dd did it a bunch of times.

We had a FABULOUS time at Universal and really dearly miss Butterbeer.

Best,

Kelli

Glad everything went well for you, Kelli.

For those that are unsure about FJ, here is a SUPER MAJORLY IMPORTANT TIP: Do NOT have butterbeer before riding FJ. Save it for later. Otherwise, when you get "whomped" by the Whomping Willow, the butterbeer will be sloshing around in your tummy most unpleasantly.

That being said, I can ride FJ about 2x-3x in a row (via single riders) before getting queasy/needing a break. This coming from someone who almost never gets motion sick!

So glad you had a great time Kelli! From what I have read, the "secret room" is the handicapped loading room. They can take all the time they want loading without disturbing the continual flow of the ride.

A Universal attraction innovation? Couldn't be. Don't tell those over on the Disney section...

I have rode FJ 5 times and sometimes feel fine and other times it takes me 30 minutes or so to fully recover.

I have developed this theory - seats on the ends are a rougher ride than the seats in the middle. I think it could have to do with how to robotic arm attaches to the bench and physically the end seats are moving more than the seats in the middle.

My husband rides everything, but when we were there last week he sat in seat 4 (far right) and refused to ride again saying the ride made him feel very sick.

I would recommend sitting in the middle seats if you are prone to motion sickness.

That is a possibility, however I also wonder if the timing of the several movie screens could be slightly off depending on when you ride.

Simulators in general have to be quite well tuned to feel the same way you're seeing the screen, if it's not in tune, people get sick.

Is there a chicken exit on the ride like at Disney? I really want to try it, but I'm not a thrill ride person, and I'm worried if I can handle it.

There sure is! My hubby takes it every time I ride. Are you traveling with other people? I would suggest letting them ride first and having them tell you if they think you can handle it or not. I had my hubby talked into this then a team member told him it was the best ride EVER and he couldn't miss it! So he decided to ride with me the first time... bad idea.. I have never seen him so green!! I would have known that he couldn't handle it but there was no talking him out of riding it the first time!!

But if it helps any I am not a thrill ride person AT ALL. I love simulators and spinning doesn't bother me but the big coasters make me sick. FJ is perfect for me. Never bothers my tummy or my head.

Oh well.. guess I'll miss most of this ride.. just like the Simpsons.. I'll ride it.. with my eyes closed!

Don't count yourself out yet. The Simpsons does me in , but FJ doesn't. Don't know why...:confused3...maybe because there are breaks in the simulator parts on FJ.
