what medicine is good for motion sickness...the last time I flew on an airplane I was sick to my stomach the whole time...it will only be a 3 hour flight so I can't be knocked out nor do I want to be...any suggestions?

I use Bonine (meclizine) and it works well. I also use the wrist bands. I never would have believed they worked until someone gave them to me on our Disney cruise! They made a believer out of me!

It lists drowsiness as a side effect, but I've never had any problems with it. Try taking it on a weekend or something to see how it affects you.

I take the "non-drowsy" dramamine. Also works well. Sadly, the older I get, the more motion sickness I experience

There was a question about this before. A lot of people recommended taking ginger pills. Ginger is known to help withnthe queasiness from motion sickness. I have used candied ginger and ginger ale with some success and intend to try the pills on my next trip as i have a pretty bad problem with motion sickness myself.

I've read that ginger snaps will help as well. Maybe washed down with ginger ale? :confused3

I too was going to recommend Meclizine and bringing along some ginger snaps. Maybe getting some gingerale for your beverage while on board.

Bonine is the way to go!!!! You can buy it at Walmart and it is not very expensive. I just took it on a 7 day trip and never felt the least bit sick.

Unfortunately most ginger ale does not have enough real ginger to have an effect. Ginger beer or true ginger ale (such as you can get at Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, New Seasons...) has a good amount of real ginger to truly calm a quesy stomach...but I don't think it prevents motion sickness.

I use Bonine too.

I go to my doctor and get a prescription for the Transdermal Scopolamine patch. Ginger works a little for me and Dramamine, even the non-drowsy knocks me out for 12 hours after taking it. I love the Scop patch because you put it behind your ear a half hour before the activity and then you wear it for 3 days and then put on another one if you need to. That way you are always prepared and you don't have to worry about taking a pill at the right time.

However, that being said, there are some side effects to the patch that you should discuss with your doctor. I just experienced the dry mouth and it was very mild and only for an hour the first time I put it on.
