from your own Mother or MIL?

If you have DD's or DIL's who are Mothers, do you get them a card or something?

When MIL was alive, she used to send me a card. We were talking in the kitchen one night and she told me she thought I was a good mother. The best compliment I ever got.

One year MIL bought little figurines at the dollar store for me from my kids (they were babies). She was a wonderful woman.

From my own mother, Yes

From my MIL, No, she would not send me a card...she doesn't think I am a good mother to my son!

Both my mother and my mother-in-law get me a card and a small gift. My mom usually gets me a gift certificate to the salon I get my nails done at. I also get a small gift from my godson and I give my sister a gift b/c she is my daughter's godmother.

My MIL gives me a card and a small gift. My mom usually just gives me a card. I get a small gift from my Godson/nephew and I get my SIL a small gift.

I buy cards for both my mother and my mother in law. And my mother in law usually sends me a card and I get a card from my God daughter, son and husband.

Forgot to say that we buy gifts for my mom and DH's mom and DS and DH always buy something for me and give me flowers in addition to treating me like a princess for the day.

My mom sometimes does, it's a hit or miss thing from her. When MIL was alive, she did.

The only people I get cards/gifts from are my son and husband. When my son is old enough to buy a gift for me himself, I'm sure my DH will not get me anything. Afterall, I'm not his mother.

No, neither my parents or in-laws send me anything...never thought they should. DH buys cards from each kid, then I get whatever - if anything - they made in school. I hate Mother's Day...I always try to tell myself not to expect anything, but I'm still disappointed every year.

My mom passed away years ago but my dad always sends me a card. My MIL, on the other hand, has never even said "Happy Mothers' Day" to me, even when I've been stuck hosting the in-laws on that day. It's HER day, don't you know....

I buy for my mom. Dh buys for his mom. DH and the kids buy for me.

I always send a card and flowers to my own mother and MIL. They they send me a card/gift as well.

I give cards and presents to both my mom and MIL.

I get cards from both and sometimes presents from his mom, too! I also get cards and presents from DH and both kids.

We're really a card- and present-giving family!! Hallmark loves us!! For example, Mother's Day:
1 card from us to my mom
1 card from my kids to my mom
2 cards from us to his mom (1 sweet and 1 funny)
1 card from my kids to his mom
2 cards from DH to me
1 card from DS to me
1 card from DD to me

9 total....minimum!! DH often finds too many he likes and gets 3 or 4 instead of stopping at 2 :) They're usually funny ones but he writes sweet messages inside them all!!

BUT, I know some folks who just do one card from the kid to the mom and that's it. Just depends what's tradition in your family!! I know when I was little I gave my aunt a card on mother's day....she took care of me every day after school, took me to scouts, choir, violin lessons, etc. since my mom was working (aunt was a teacher at my school and I never would have been able to do anything without her making it possible)! I was giving her cards and altering them to say "like a mother to me" before they made cards for all these different situations :)

MIL gets two cards one from DH and I and one from my kids
Grandma gets two also one from DH and I and one from my kids (their Great Grandma)

My SIL sometimes gives me a card.

Nope, never have done.

I actually had an arguement with on Mother one year after I didn't call her on Mothers Day. I told her straight that I am a Mother too & yet you don't bother to wish me a Happy Mothers Day. It's a long story, but she is a nasty piece of work:(

the year i was pregnant with my son I got cards "saying happy first" since he was due the next month. I haven't gotten anything since then, except verbal well wishes.

This one tho no one will know until then so I'm sure I'll get a Card from DS and DH and I usually get gift certificates to tan (not this year) or to the aveda spa (most likely) My aniversary is the 22nd so DH ususally saves the big guns for that. Also I'm usually at Disney sometime in may and usually go to the GF spa and get something and claim it as a mothers day present.

It was great the year we took my mom with us, she got a limo to and from MCO and a spa day for mothers day, I didn't tell her they were the norm (shhhhhh)

I buy for my mom and my dh buys for his mom and we usually do a fancy lunch after church (out) so that no mom's have to cook or clean that day.

Since I work at Hallmark cards are very easy to come by so I bought:

1 for Mom
2 for Grandmothers
4 for my Aunts
2 for close friends
1 for in case I forgot one!

Tink princess:

PS- This is my 110 post!!! So happy! :bounce:
