Mother's Day

I haven't seen this mentioned much, so I thought I'd get it going. Who else is going to be in the Happiest Place on Earth on Mother's Day? I am so excited, not only will it be my first MD in DLR, but I am fortunate that my DM will be with us...I get the treat of celebrating her day right along with mine.

I can't wait!

I'll be there with my dear Mother and my twin daughters...a special surprise Mother's Day trip for us. I can't wait! We're going to treat ourselves well!

It is exciting, I think my DH and my kids feel like it was a gift that fell in their lap...how could they make me happier??? I am planning on doing something special for my DM...I haven't decided what yet...

We will be there that weekend, as will my best friend and her family. I spent MD 2000 in the park. It was fun! We'll be doing the Minnie and friends character meal, rather then the fancy brunch at the DLH.

This is my first MD since my mom passed, in Dec.. I'm so glad I have a happy place to celebrate what is going to be a difficult day.

Linda...I am so sorry to hear that this will be such a hard time for you, but I have to agree that it will hopefully help to be in a place so filled with joy!

We are leaning towards doing a low key brunch at Goofy's instead of the big brunch...it just seems more in keeping with our DL spirit, we like to be relaxed and have laugh out loud fun!!! Although I am sure that the brunch will be elegant and wonderful, we are just more into the "Goofiness" of it all!!!

Linda, so sorry to hear about your Mom. We lost my stepdad a year and a half ago, and it still hurts. Hugs to you, I hope you have a wonderful day on MD.

We're not going to the big brunch, but rather are having a salad and glass of wine at WCT, on the patio. Definitely more our style! I'm looking forward though to doing a lot of shopping. Last time I was at DL with my kids it was with DH and his family, my in-laws and his sister and family. They are most definitely NOT shoppers, so we didn't spend any time browsing. This time around I have a list prepared already!

Honestly, they weren't too bad. We didn't get into the park until after noon, and I didn't feel horribly crowded (except for NOS... see below). Now, I'm not anywhere near a "regular", so my perception could be off. President's Day 2001 was worse, IIRC.

The worst part about last year was that they were prepping for the POTC movie premiere, so most of the river in front of New Orleans Square was covered in scaffolding and bleachers. It was really unattractive. NOS was a huge traffic clot because the walking areas were cut in half. The island was shut down for the changeover to the new Lair, and none of the boats were running. And no Fantasmic!

We're going back May 20-24 this year. I can't wait!

We were there in 2006, but I was able to find a MD pin from someone who was trading in DTD, he told me what he wanted in exchange for the pin, I went and bought the pin he wanted and got the MD pin for me.

ROFL...us too!! We had no idea it was Mother's Day when we planned these dates. We were originally scheduled to be in SD Zoo on Sunday, but when we realized it was Mother's Day, we decided that the best possible gift would be DL for me, and for DM as well!!!

I get more and more excited...and it gets closer and closer.

Does anyone have any plans on special Mother's Day mementos? I hadn't thought of Pins, but will have to look and see if I can find one while I am there. Do they sell special crystal or anything? I am still trying to think of something truly beautiful for DM.

We will be there on MD. My mom past away in 2004. It is always so hard on MD without her. DL will keep my mind busy for sure.

We will be going to GK for dinner that day. YUMMMMMy!!!

MEEE!!!! I will be there on Mother's Day too! I am one that also will be there by accident! When I booked my anniversary trip with my DH (and made the decision to leave the kids at home) I did not realize that it was Mother's Day weekend until two months ago, well AFTER the plane tickets were purchased!

We were going to do the Mother's Day brunch, due to my whining... BUT then I really grasped HOW much it was and decided that since the food was not covered in GOLD, it was not worth it to us. My DH was very surprised that I cancelled the ressies and tried to talk me into doing it anyway. What a nice man! I still caved and cancelled.

I have not decided what I want to do instead. We do have something planned each day. I suppose just being on vacation with my DH for the first time without children will be present enough! But, I am still thinking. I should think faster, I leave in 2 weeks!!

Happy Mother's Day to us all, even better that we get to spend it at the Happiest Place on Earth!

GRRRR! My MIL accused me of planning the trip on a weekend she is traditionally out of town so I wouldnt have to invite her to go with us. WTH? I picked a weekend that worked for us and our friends. We worked around work schedules, state school testing, business trips, holidays, etc. We have invited MIL/FIL 3 of the last 4 trips we have taken. We have taken ONE vacation with out them, this will make 2. GIVE ME A BREAK!
