I posted a very similar thread on the SoCal Theme parks bulletin, so this may seem familiar to some. ;)

Okay, when we scheduled this trip, believe it or not, not one member of our party realized that we would be there on Mother's Day. We arranged our trip following the normal wisdom, part of which was deciding (since we are including SW and the Zoo) to go to SW on Saturday and the Zoo on Sunday, leaving Disney for Friday, Monday and Tuesday.

Once we realized that it is MD that Sunday, we started looking into the events at the two San Diego locations. The Zoo is hosting a brunch, but I am having no luck in finding prices, or how to reserve, or even if there is availability left! SW has a brunch with Shamu, but it is overpriced, imo, and just not that appealing.

What it really boils down to, though, is that if I would have realized it was MD, I would have planned from the beginning that we be in DLR that day! Of course!! It's DL, after all, and I am a DM through and through!

Now that it is close, I don't know if we can shift or not. First of all, my DM will be with us for three days only (we are lucky it's Mother's Day :rotfl: ). She is flying in Thursday night, and wanted her first day to be in Disneyland/DCA. She also decided to fly home Sunday night instead of Monday morning, over my objections, which means that if we switch to Sunday for her DL day, she won't get a full day in the park. I guess we could look into changing her flight but that would probably be expensive.

I don't even know if Mother's Day is acknowledged in DLR. Are the crowds expected to be epic? We usually have brunch in a nice place. I don't know if a brunch is hosted anywhere in DLR. To me, it would be terrific just to be there, maybe to make ADR's at a nicer place and enjoy. :cloud9:

Does it make sense to change our plans? It may be silly, but if anyone, anytime, anywhere, were to ask me where I would like to be, it would be a Disney Park...so naturally that would be the best Mother's Day gift. Ever. :goodvibes

ive been in WDW for mothers day, so i assume things are fairly similar at each park. they hand out carnations to moms at the parks and some restaurants. its pretty special.

i remember one mothers day we were waiting for a photopass photog to take our pic at the statue at MK, and he took a photo of a man and woman and a whole lot of kids. all the kids looked like they were 16 and under. he asked the mom if she was the mother of all the kids, and she said yes. everyone around did a quick count... 14 kids! the photog said "well you certainly deserve a hand on this mothers day!" and everyone applauded her. probably embarrassed her a lot, certainly embarrassed her kids, but i think it was sweet.

We went this past Mother's Day, and it was great. It wasn't very crowded at all IMO and my DS loved picking out a carnation for me to wear. :) (They had tables of them right after you enter the park). There was also a brunch which we did not go to, but hopefully someone who has been there can post some info. on that. :)

But I'd prefer DL. :)

We spent last Mother's Day at DL. There were carnations for all mums right inside the gate (my kids got one for my mum, and also for me :-) )

Early in the day the crowds weren't too bad. We had PS reservations at the Plaza Inn for Breakfast with Minnie, which was just a perfect start to the day.
Around 1pm it got quite a bit busier, so we went back to our room for a while. Later we returned to DCA for the Electrical Parade. All in all, both my mum and myself think that it was the BEST Mother's Day ever!

Are you driving to San Diego? your car ? or a rental car? If so It would be easy to switch your dates around. So, you can be at DL Saturday and Sunday with your Mom. Is that what she wants??

If it is a Tour Bus get on the phone and get it rescheduled.

If it is a DL Package same thing call and reschedule. The voucher can be used any day.

The Zoo will be better when it isn't so crowded.

Sea World has a Shamu lunch, dinner all the time. It shouldn't make too much of a difference. Call Sea World to check however. Is this a tour or voucher? If not I can tell you how to get a discount at the ticket window.

We are going to switch it around if we can change my mom's flight to Monday so she still gets a whole day in DL. I am so excited, I don't think I have ever been this excited about Mother's Day! And to be there with my DM will be perfect! :dancer: :jumping1: :dancer:

Does anyone know if there is a brunch, and if so, where? Should I just call Disney Dining?

Thank you, spokanemom!

We re-arranged my DM's flight, she will be staying Sunday night as well and flying home Monday morning! So, we are definitely spending Mother's Day in DL. :cool1:

I am curious...we haven't really looked in to a lot of character meals at DL, so I am not even sure, but is the Goofy Breakfast meal at the DLH? If so, when the Mother's Day brunch happens, is that a character meal or is it in a different area or is there no character meal that day?

I was showing my DH and DS's the dining post, and there is a bunch of pictures of the Goofy breakfast, and now they want to eat there! :lmao: I haven't been able to get my kids interested in a Character meal for 3 years, but boy, they saw those cupcakes and it was all over! Plus, it looks like Pluto is there, and honestly, my DS13 just loves him. They are buds!
