My daughter is getting :bride: in March, 2011 and I have begun to look for a mother of the bride dress....so I am asking all you brides out there to post pictures of your MOM or MIL in their dresses. Thanks!

I hope this helps here are our pictures.

My DH and his mother:

Here are all of us, this is one of my favorite pictures, note my mom and Minnie are almost matching, I knew they would both be in purple but I didn't realize how close they would match. :goodvibes

DH's Mom on the left, her dress seemed a bit tight at the top :(

My mom on the left. I loved her dress.

Thank you ladies! I love all the dresses. I am thinking that with the holidays fast approaching the stores will be getting in more formal dresses..(think Christmas parties & New Year's Eve parties, that I should be able to get something then if I don't find something before that. I have a tendancy to wait to see if it will be cheaper in a month and end up missing out on it all together...so when I find it I am just gonna buy it!

Good plan - I would also visit some of the bridal stores that have Mother dresses and try them on. Don't forget to ask about having alterations accomplished if necessary. Any place you go have someone go with you with a camera and then review the pictures when you get home to see how they actually look in the pics. This will also ensure that you don't make a rash purchase.

Consult your daughter to see if she would like you in a long formal, shorter cocktail type dress or cocktail suit, and what color she would like you to have to fit with her color scheme and the type of flowers she may be getting for you as a corsage. I would also suggest that the Bride share this last information with the Mother of the Groom.

This is the dress my mom bought for our wedding in January. She still needs to get it altered and buy the appropriate under items, but I think it's perfect, especially since I'm having her walk down the aisle with me and my dad. :goodvibes

What a beautiful dress - agree it will look fanstastic with your Dad. What is he wearing by the way?

Oh no, you asked the dreaded question! :lmao: I have NO idea what my dad's going to wear. He lives in NY, and I haven't told him yet that I'm also having my mom (his ex-wife!) walk down the aisle with us. :rolleyes1 When my sister got married in Jamaica, everyone dressed up, and my dad wore khaki shorts and tube socks and sneakers to walk her down the aisle. :rotfl: I did explain to him that that wont be acceptable at my wedding, but I'm not sure if it got through to him. I'm thinking I'm just going to have him wear a black suit, I think he can handle that, and hopefully it wont clash too bad. :confused3

That dress is beautiful. I hope that your dad is respectful of your decision and dresses appropriately for your wedding.

Another question: Am I suppose to coordinate the color of my dress with the rest of the wedding party? My DD is planning on three bridesmaids and a maid of honor. The colors she has picked out although the dresses have not been ordered, are cornflower blue, sage, pale yellow and a light orange melon. Or should I get something totally off her color palette?

I say ask your daughter what she'd like you to do! I've seen weddings where the mothers do coordinate with the wedding party and then some where they don't.

Why don't you arrange to rent your Dad a suit in Orlando for him to wear - that way he does not have to get anything and you won't be 'suprised' over what he wears. Just a suggestion. Carol Allens will come to the hotel for a fitting. The do have a plain black suit under Modern, you could then get him a tie that will match your colors. Check out

Here are a few of the dresses that I like...the pics are not the greatest since they were in the store on hangers and I was using my cell phone to try to take the picture and straighten the dress at the same time.

This one is in celery green, which coordinates with my DD bridal party colors.

and this one is in a platium color which I am not too crazy about, but the style of the dress is nice.

I like the style of the 3rd one. But were you looking for a certain color..like to coordinate with the bridal party or it doesn't matter?
