We usually bid Priceline, but occasionally opt to pay more to stay closer. We've stayed at the Best Western Park Place and know what it is like. How does the Desert Inn&Suites compare? Is there a better choice for the price on that little strip by the crosswalk? Thanks so much!

I booked a room at desert inn last night. 4 Q beds 2/rooms 1 1/2 baths $99 Seems good to me. ITs next door to BWPP.

The Desert Inn is usually a really good deal, atleast for us. We also use the 4 queen rooms and it is clean and we have never had a problem and I have stayed there 5 times already and will again in February!!!

You might also check into the Tropicana. We stayed there last February and loved it. I got an extremly good deal on Expedia, around $60 a night and it had a free (minimal) Continental breakfast. It is right next door to the Best Western Park Place Inn so also right at the crosswalk. I liked it that the rooms had been recently redone. It was not fancy but very clean with a super nice staff that seemed to really make that extra effort.

We stayed at the Tropicana as well, and liked it. The staff were very friendly and it was nice not to have to walk too far at the end of the day.

Not sure but I THINK the Camelot is there too. That's where we are staying in February.

Is the desert inn right across the street by Carousel and Park Place Inn?

Yes, it is right across the street, just on the opposite side of the crosswalk from those two. So instead of crossing and going left to those, you would cross and go right!

Yes the Camelot is very close to the crosswalk. First there is the Best Western Park Place Inn, The Tropicana, the Carousel then the Camelot. So very close indeed. And its right next to McDonald's. And its upper level pool deck has a great view of the fireworks!

Thanks everyone. Thanks for the suggestions and links. I was just wondering if all the motels are about the same. Thanks for your time.

I think they are pretty much the same. The difference is probably the HoJo. Its a bit further up Harbor (maybe 5-7 further than the ones right at the crosswalk). Unlike the others, the Hojo has some nice grounds, two nice pool areas and somewhat more of a resort feel to it. Also, some of the rooms at the Hojo have balconies and they have interior corridors. Although some of those interior corridors are really more enclosed, in that they don't open directly outside but aren't enclosed on the ends. Still it cuts down on the noise issue. As for the others, I have stayed at the Camelot (back when it was the Park Inn) and the Tropicana (now owned and operated by the same people who own and operate the Camelot). Same free, basic contienental breakfast, same type of older, motel stye pool with no slide etc., but the rooms at the Tropicana were brighter than the Camelot's were and the Tropicana had some nice landscaping touches. Basically the thing to remember is that these are all older motels, they have been rennovated and refurbed through the years but they are still motels. But for the most part people always seem very happy to be paying so much less for a close, convenient location to Disneyland. I would check out the sticky on the top of this page, Mary Jo has some information on many of the good neighbor motels. Also, check out the various reviews on tripadvisor. Another thing about that area on Harbor is that there are quite a few cheapr dining options. Including Mimi's (gets the best reviews, we loved it), IHOP, Denny's, McDonald's, Millie's and Tony Romas. So in addition to not spending a fortune on lodging, you have the opportunity to eat some meals out of the park and save money that way. And you can park your car there and not pay to park at Disneyland.
