I am looking at the Jolly roger Hotel or Motel 6. We are not looking for anything fancy and we plan on parking at Disneyland. Any opions on these 2 motels? Thanks!!!!! :goodvibes

If you are planning to drive to Disney anyway, try priceline and get a nicer place that may be further since distance won't matter, but you may get a better price.

From those two, the time it will take to get in the car drive a block and pull into the parking lot, is the same to get 1/2 to 2/3 of the way to the gates. I consider both to be far walking distance.

Maybe you could get a better rate at the Super 8 on Katella or Anahiem Plaza inn.

Priceline is an easy way to get a 3 or 4 star hotel near Disneyland for $50-$75. The problem is Priceline only guarantees a room for 2 people which can mean a king bed. If you have kids this could be a problem. However, in the past 2 years I've used Priceline when visiting DLR and never had a problem getting 2 queens over a dozen trips.

Hotwire is an alternative. You know the price and you will get 2 beds if you have 4 people. Not as good of deals as on Priceline but far better than paying rack rate.

Motel 6 on Disney Way is much better than your average Motel 6. It has an inside lobby and gift store. It used to be a Red Roof until a few years ago (same company). Its very clean and convenient but I find often over priced. $59 or so would be fine but if rate is $75-$90 I'd look to Hotwire or elsewhere for a deal.

My wife and I stayed at the Jolly Roger a few years back and were not impressed. We aren't overly picky, but it felt fairly old and pretty run down. It was within pretty easy walking distance. We make the trip to Disneyland every 1-2 years and I wouldn't stay there again unless there weren't too many options around. We are going again in June and returning to the Fairfiled, wife liked it a lot and I was impressed for it's price.

Thanks everyone! We are looking at booking through AAA so we can get free parking. I really dislike the walk to the main gate. :rotfl:
