Motel/Hotel near LGB

My two boys and I will be flying into LGB from the East Coast in August and we are looking for a clean, safe and reasonably priced place to stay. We would arrive around 10 pm and then we have an early morning flight when we depart a week later. We will be traveling around Southern California in between including a stay at Disneyland. We typically stay at Holiday Inn Express of Fairfield Inn and Suites when on road trips on the East Coast. When researching places close to the airport, I came across the Super 8 Motel which got decent reviews and is very reasonably priced. The Holiday Inn is $100 more per night and the Courtyard by Marriott is $125 more per night. Has anyone ever stayed at the Super 8 in Long Beach? Any other recommendations?

We stayed at the Super 8 Long Beach by LGB before a morning flight this past December. It was fine. Safe, clean. Nothing to write home about and I wouldn't choose it if it was for more than one night, but it fit our needs fine as a clean, safe place to crash near LGB. We looked at the Holiday Inn as well, but for $100 a night considering how little time we used it, it wouldn't be worth it for us - we literally got there at 7pm and left at around 5:30 a.m. the next day.

Thanks NewbieMouse. I figure that we will spend about 12 hrs on arrival and departure day at the hotel and sleeping for 8 of those. Likely not worth the extra money for the other hotels.

That's what we thought - and I didn't regret it. Not the Ritz, but who cares?!?
