Most "upscale" grocery store?

What do you think is the most upscale grocery store within 20 minutes of WDW? I know there is a Winn Dixie close to our hotel, but I am looking for something with special bakery items, fresh baked flavored bagels, an incredible deli. etc. Where we live we have Bel Air which is my favorite here and want to know what is there.

Any comments? I am willing to drive a bit since we will only make 1 trip : )

I would say to try Goodings. From what I remember they had a great deli, and I would consider them a bit more upscale.

Goodings prices are certainly upscaled. I avoid shopping there.

Publix also seems to have a very nice deli. There is a newish one near the Premium Outlet Malls just across the interstate from Goodings.

I haven't been to the new Super Walmart just down 535 from there, but our local one usually has pretty decent deli food.

Goodings is horrible and locals pretty much don't shop there.

Publix is nice, but not "upscale". A lot of the Winn-Dixies have closed, same with Kash-N-Karry. Albertsons isn't as nice as Publix IMHO, but the prices are a bit lower.

If you truly want the only TRUE upscale grocery store in the area, there is only ONE choice, it is Fresh Market in Winter Garden. 5000 Dr Phillips Blvd
Orlando, FL 32819

It has an incredible bakery with artisan breads and delicate bakery items. It has a deli which will blow your mind! It has the largest selection of artisan cheeses I've seen outside of the greater NYC area. The produce is fresh from the field, the meats are incredible! There is a huge selection of bean coffee which you can grind to order there. And a nice wine selection as well.

You can also get a lot of gourmet items (the kind of things you'd find in a high end gourmet gift basket) gourmet candies from around the world, and a huge selection of teas.

The new Goodings at the corner of Hwy. 192 and Celebration Avenue, at Water Tower Place (the entrance to Celebration) is very nice.

I assume you were referring to the Goodings at Crossroads which locals avoid as it is geared towards the tourists, but the new Goodings in Celebration is trying to cater to the local community.

They have an excellent bakery, excellent produce section, fresh prepared salads, fresh sushi, a very nice meat dept., etc.

I'm so spoiled by the Twin Cities. We asked this question last year and were so disappointed - ended up at a Kash and Karry. For reference, this is where I shop at home when I'm not being cheap (click on the red dots on the map):

(By the way, prices aren't horrible here, but I'm usually too cheap. And there is also the Bylerys/Lunds and Jerry's chains in this niche. Minnesotans must like upscale grocery shopping.)

That does look like a nice place to shop. I'll probably check the Winter Garden place out unless someone else suggests something closer. I am buying groceries for 10 people before most of the group arrives so figure I can go somewhere special once. After that, just picking up milk can be done anywhere : )

Thanks,
Jenn

Fresh Market, hands down. Plan to spend an hour there. It's that good. ;)

Just got back from Fresh Market. If you are looking for those speciality items then Frest Market is the place to go. If you need to stock up on items I would suggest Publix.

Apparently they don't have a website. I did a search for them yesterday. They must have at one time though because there are links to it.

Just wanted to say what Susan wrote is true - this Goodings is trying to get our business, and has even lowered prices to same or lower than Publix.

And what from what I've heard around here, what people are posting about Fresh Market is true as well.

I wish I saw this yesterday. We were in Winter Park to check out the Whole Foods Market. Pretty nice place, but packed with people.

you mentioned grocery store but Panera is a great place for bagels & bakery items & they also have a cafe for take out maybe this can replace the deli you are requesting

Thanks for the info, I think I'll want a full service grocery store since I want deli meat, cheese and wine, but I do need to find bagels. I figure if we eat more off site then it should be good : )

We went to the Goodings at the entrance to Celebration while we were at Disney in July. We understood it had just opened. It was very nice. The prices were not way over priced and the produce seemed fresh.
