Its still just a thought right now but DH and I may take a mini trip to WDW just him and I next January for our 5th anniversary. Could probably stay 2-3 nights, 3 would be ideal but we'll have to see.
If we do this I want to try the Deluxe Dining Plan. We would only go to Epcot and Magic Kingdom. So any input would be great.

Kind of wanting Citricos because back when we were just boyfriend/girlfriend we went there on our anniversary six years ago. The meal was great but also looking back to see we're still together, now married with kids :).

Citricos is a great pick. Bistro de Paris in Epcot is very romantic, but no on the Dining Plan. Chefs de France is still pretty good, though. If you can sneak out of the International Gateway at Epcot and head over to the Boardwalk, Flying Fish can be nice later in the evening, but a little noisy for me to consider it romantic at the height of the dinner rush.

IMO California Grill is the best choice. You can go early before your ADR's and have a drink at the bar and look at the great view. We always schedule our ressies late in the day and then have a bottle of wine and watch Wishes from outside the restaurant. It is very romantic and as it is a Signature place it isn't over run with children in the evening.

Although they are good restaurants, I wouldn't exactly call Flying Fish (which is our favorite restaurant on property) or Cali Grill "romantic". Both have atmospheres that are louder than other signatures. Cali is great for a decent meal and a drink while watching Wishes with a great view. My girlfriend and I are trying the Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner at FF this time around (I don't know if it is "romantic" or not, but it might be a great experience to have since you are without kids this time around).

V&A's, Shula's, bluezoo and Bistro are all very quiet and pretty romantic restaurants, but none are on any dining plans.

Out of the rest of the signatures that ARE on the dining plan, the most romantic settings are Citricos, Jiko and Artist Point.

Of course, this is just one man's opinion. Most importantly, have fun. :thumbsup2

I'll second the PP's comment that IMHO, CG isn't really romantic. Yes, the view is nice, but for romantic I prefer a quieter atmosphere.

We like Citrico's, Jiko or Artist Point for romantic places. All three are more subdued, but elegant in the design of their room. Well, maybe elegant doesn't apply to AP, but the room does have a certain charm. All are places where the two of you can enjoy a wonderful mean in pleasant surroundings.

Narcoossees...can't beat watching Wishes on the veranda with a glass of wine and your best friend by your side.

Sadly, there are few restaurants on the dining plan that would get my vote as being even remotely romantic. I would say that Citricos would be the best choice. We've had a few quiet meals at Jiko and Artist Point.

Off the dining plan, V&A is always romantic. We've also enjoyed quiet, intimate meals at Il Mulino. And you could always do private dining; my son did this at Grand Floridian, choosing the Citricos menu. They sat on a private balcony at the GF.

I'm not dead set on the plan. Have always wanted to try V&A. Do wonder how much we would end up spending on one dinner though?

Romance is what you make it. We love the WDW signatures & dine at them almost every night of vacation. While the food is good & we love the atmosphere - none of them with the exception of Bistro or V&A are classically "romantic".

That said, when you are with the one you love & you are focused on each other, anyplace can be romantic & make wonderful memories. One of our most romantic nights started out with us getting caught in the rain on a launch from MK to the Poly which we followed up with drinks & snacks at Tambu Lounge - Did we thgink that was going to turn out to be so romantic & such a great memory? No way :lmao: But, hey - it was!

So go ahead & plan those delicious meals - but let the Romance find you. It will. I bet it's going be the times you least expect that bring on the cuddles & memories. :goodvibes

My husband and I rate dinner at the San Angel Inn at Epcot as our most romantic dining experience. We were seated at our candlelit table for 2 by the river and watched the boats drifting by under the indigo twilight sky. Several passengers waved at us as they floated past. In the distance, the Mayan ruins and the smoking volcano provided a captivating atmosphere. We thought the food was delicious, upscale Mexican cuisine, and we do like a bit of spice. The handcrafted margaritas -- yum! After dinner, the waitress worked a little magic for me and presented my husband with a surprise shot of Patron Platinum -- which we shared because it's so expensive!

We've eaten at Jiko, Artist's Point, and other highly rated WDW restaurants, but we still think the San Angel Inn is highly romantic.

For another romantic experience -- stretch out in a chaise lounge on the beach at the Polynesian resort with a drink in your hand. Watch the Wishes fireworks show from across the lake, just the two of you! My DH and I did that on New Year's Eve, avoiding the unbearable crowds and sharing some quiet time. A bonus is that we also got to see the Electrical Water Pageant floating by.

In my experience, Cal Grill is the loudest and most overrun with children of all the signature restaurants, especially if you are there around the time that Wishes is being performed.

For romantic and somewhat quiet, I would go with Jiko, Citricos, Il Mulino, bluezoo or Artist Point

Dinner is $125 per person, no wine pairings, no add-ons. This is for 5 courses (excluding the amuse bouche). The price is very reasonable for what you get. I find the main dining room to be very romantic.

ITA. DH won't even set foot in CG anymore cuz it's obnoxiously loud.

DH isn't a wine fan, and I only enjoy merlot so we'd opt out of wine more than likely. Believe I will do some research now. To bother you with another question, how difficult is it to get a reservation?

LOL, I'm not much of a planner. I usually call about 30 days out for a reservation. I've never had a problem getting into the main dining room. The last time I dined there in January, there was us and one other couple.

If you make a reservation, they will call you the day before your meal to personally discuss it with you. Tell them it's your anniversary and your personalized menus will have that noted; it makes a great souvenir.

It is good to hear that I don't have to wake at 6a.m. six months out :).

That would be a wonderful souvenir. Especially since the last time we were at WDW for an anniversary we walked by V&A and said "one day we'll go there."

I think I am sold!
