My husband has undergone a horrible surgery on his leg (an osteotomy) and will be off work until at least October. This has been such a stressful and painful time for him, and before he goes back to work, I would love to take a WDW trip!! Since we met 6 years ago I have wanted to watch Illuminations at Epcot with him. I was wondering which of the moderates you guys think would be the most romantic?? TIA!

We like POFQ, the New Orleans theme is more adult, nice lounge and boat ride to downtown disney, also small resort with very little walking.

we love POR, nice and quiet, nice quiet pools and the treelined walks are very relaxing. Ask for a building in Alligator Bayou, bldg 14 is a short walk to the bus depot and food court. Make sure you mention your husband's recuperating and I am sure they will do everything to assist you. Nothing like Disney to make you feel better!!

I have stayed at POFQ & POR (when it was Dixie Landings). I vote for POFQ. We found POR to be too large and spread out. If you could get a room close to the main bldg it may not feel that way. And maybe your hubby's leg would warrent them guaranteeing you that. Besides the size, I felt POFQ was more romantic. :lovestruc:

But I have not stayed at the other moderates, so I can't speak for those. But IMHO, one advantage these two have over the others is the boat ride to DTD. No other moderate has such easy access to such a wide variety of dining options! The boat ride is quite and relaxing and it really feels like all those shops and restuarants are part of your resort!

DH and I honeymooned at POFQ in 2004. It was so quiet and relaxing. We love the boat to downtown disney! You can't beat being the first one picked up by the bus and the first dropped off after a long day in the parks!:thumbsup2

I have stayed at all the mods and my favorite is P.O.F.Q. I love the size and it just doesn't seem to be so spread out. Any building your in is only a 5 min walk to the bustop. And the food court.

We like CSR for romance. Take a look at the photos Buzz attaches to his posts. At night the place is simply stunning with lots of fountains, pretty garden areas, etc. Dh and I like a walk around the lake so much, we drive over there for dinner and a walk, even if we're not staying there! While we're not fans of Pepper Market, many are. And, we like Maya Grill, although we stick to a variety of appetizers and desserts and skip the entrees. We think both the Casitas section and the Ranchos sections are lovely. We were there with kids and stayed in Casitas. We thought the Ranchos would be perfect for romance, too. The ranchos have a quiet pool that really as quiet when we were there, plus a desert Palm Springs kind of style that we like. We would avoid the Cabana section, although many like it for convenience. CSR is a large property so there can be alot of walking. We always rent a car, so the fact that it doesn't have "public" transportation doesn't bother us. And, when we stayed there, we thought it was great for driving -- centrally located to everything.

We've stayed at POR as well and thought that was very pretty. But, I'd give CSR the edge over POR. We have not stayed at POR-FQ.

I personally think Port Orleans French Quarter is the most romantic. I love the boat ride to Downtown Disney and have had the opportunity to be the only ones on it. The resort has a peaceful demure about it. And when walking around the resort it is like you are walking on a street in New Orleans with the gas lit lamps to light the path. The hot tub area also is near the pool but yet secluded by trees unlike some other resorts where it is just there by the pool. This also deters the children from hopping in and out from the pool.

hands down, PO FQ is def the most romantic... No questions asked... All I have to say is Horse and Carriage ride...

Another vote for the CSR. DH and I are going for our 25th anniversary and he asked if I wanted to go back to the Poly or try one of the other moderates, and I told him no--I like our "home away from home". We love strolling around the lake at night when the sun has gone down and the lights are reflecting off the lake, the lights around the fountains in the Casitas section where we always stay; lying in the hammock together and just relaxing. It is our favorite resort by far...and we find it very romantic and can't wait to celebrate our 25th there in September.
