MOST IMPORTANT TIP

After reading these boards for several months and actually taking my first trip to WDW, I have a suggestion. It is MHO only. See what you think.:)

Whether you are about to venture to WDW for the very first time, or are looking forward to your umpteenth foray to the "world built by the mouse," don't forget why you are going!

The planning is important--PS's, daily itineraries, packing, etc. The attractions, meals, parades, accomodations are all part of the vacation. All the how to's, the hidden Mickeys, and little known facts do contribute.

Over all that, though, I am convinced that the most important thing to remember is that you won't find any more at WDW than you carry into the world with you. The REAL magic is inside you, not in the parks. You are going to WDW because it's a fun place to experience and enjoy family, friends, loved ones, or even your own company IF you don't lose sight of your focus.

That's the one MOST IMPORTANT TIP I'd give, if anyone asked me. What would be yours?

My two most important tips..is wear comfortable shoes and bring two pairs so you can switch off each day or half day if you return to your room..your feet with love you for it. Second tip is try and figure out how much you will need to make your trip enjoyable and bring enough to cover your food and any other expenses you have..nothing worse than a vacation where you do not have enough money for what you want and need...so bring more than you think that you will need is my second tip.

How right you are! Thanks for the "tip".

I love the planning and stuff... but it all boils down to the playful spirit I bring to checkin. No worries there!!!

Amen, Thumper's Dad!!! That's the same thing I tell all my friends to remember before they go!! Otherwise all the planning notebooks & spreadsheets in the world will be in vain.

I couldn't agree more Thumper's Dad!! I love planning for WDW (I think it's 1/2 the fun), but if all doesn't go according to plan thats ok. It can get quite stressful trying to see everything. Last time we stayed on site and tried to get to all the EE days. My daughter doesn't move too quick in the mornings, so this time we are staying off-site and I'm not going to worry what time we get to the parks - they will be there when we get there. The most important thing is to have fun!!!

Last year, my husband thought I'd gone over the deep edge with all the planning I was doing getting ready for our trip at Halloween. But once we got there, he realized that all the details were taken care of and I could finally RELAX with my family.

So we agree......all the planning in the world is great. But if you have the spirit inside, the joy of seeing everything with your kids and giving them your undivided attention, that's the best. Be flexible with everyone, including yourself.

;) The most important tip I have that has not been mentioned is: IF you are going in the hottest time of the year (anywhere from May through September) wear lightweight, light colored , COTTON clothing. Light colored socks and walking shoes are better than dark also. Stayt cool and drink plenty of water!!!

Mine would be to BE FLEXIBLE!!! Especially if you have young ones--things may not always go according to plan. Also, RELAX!! That's why we're there, right? Or, maybe I should say, that's why I go! ;)
