Whooping cough gave me that. It you thought breathing was bad, try a cough attack. Oh Dear God... I have never seen fear in my daughter's eye like that watching me not be able to get air as it hurt simply to much.

I'll preface this by saying I've experienced most of the ones already mentioned -- so I have some basis of comparison. But I think the most painful was an infected finger. I was in the hospital with it for five nights and that was the only time I've been given those "instant relief" injections that make all the world right in five seconds.
The darn thing just throbs and there's no way to relieve it. With most things, you can change your body position to get relief. Not so with infected digits.
Moral of the story: Be careful when opening cans of sardines.

Shingles, Horrendously Awful case, followed by chemo. Yes, Shingles was Worse ( like being burned alive… ) I had a very bad case, unfortunately more than once.
GET the shingles vaccine!
