Planning on taking my nieces (9 and 13) and nephew (11) the week school lets out (June 18). They've never been! I am looking for recommendations for "fun" meals. We already have planned Raglan Road, Biergarten, Akershus (Princess breakfast), and H&V Fantasmic dinner. We'll be staying at BLT. I debated Chef Mickey since it's right there but I think Mickey is at H&V? Also debating running over to HDDR for dinner our last night before heading to MK for fireworks. Unable to get in at BOG. What else did your kids find "fun"? Thanks!

We have done the character breakfast at Cafe May at the Beach Club a couple of times. Interaction was great...enjoyed Chip & Dale especially. They were charming. Saw Minnie and probably 3-4 other characters. If you want Mickey, you probably want to go somewhere else.

In addition to any character meal:

Sci Fi (cartoons and some fun, campy sci-fi clips on a big screen), Teppen Edo (live Hibachi chef is entertaining), Via Napoli (Metro Mezzo meter wide pizza is impressive)

Breakfast at Tusker House at AK (Safari Mickey& crew) and Crystal Palace (Pooh etc. - a must for my 15 y.o.DD since she was 8!) I've been warned by several that H&V isn't worth it because the food is poor, but Tusker House is wonderful food, character interaction and theming. Liberty Tree and 50's Prime Time at HS are worth a look, and since you're at BLT, try Whispering Canyon at WL and have one of them ask for ketchup:)

I was going to post exactly these locations. Good call!

I second Sci Fi as the kids can be "by themselves" (I suggest the nephew be the hitchhiker in the back seat and the two girls in front of him). You all can still talk and hear each other but they can eat separately. The adults can be in the front and "drive". Highly suggest burgers, onion rings, and milkshakes so simple kid food. And the clips are very campy so if the kids have never been to a drive in movie, they can experience the "feel" of it. It's also fairly fast service so you probably will be in an out of the seating (not the waiting to be seated) in an hour. Oh - and if you need a break, they do serve a full bar :)

I am worried about seating at Fantasmic so I wanted to do the dinner package and H&V was the only thing available. I'd love to do SciFi but wonder how long we'll need to sit in the stands to get a good spot for Fantasmic. I wonder if FP will still be available if we got there in the late afternoon. I've only gone in Sept when it's been very uncrowded. Not sure how bad it gets in June when kids are out of school.

Kiddos loved Mickey's Backyard Bar B Q at Fort Wilderness. Their second favorite is T-Rex at Disney Springs. Yours are a great age for Hoop Dee Doo Review at Fort Wilderness!

My kids favourites are:
Crystal Palace in MK for breakfast (More for the atmosphere than the characters)
BOG for lunch in MK
50's Prime Time Cafe in HS
Sci Fi Dine Inn in HS
Via Napoli in EP (which kid doesn't like pizza?)
Tusker House in AK for breakfast/brunch (our favourite character dining with Mickey and friends)
T- Rex in Disney Springs
Ohana' for dinner at the Polynesian
Beaches and Cream at Beach Club

My kids are boys but if I had girls I would add: Alkersus in EP or Cinderalla's Royal Table in MK to meet the princesses and eat in the castles.
I would skip Chef Mickey, food is horrible and is way too crowded! I personally prefer Tusker House with the characters dressed in safari costumes and food is really delicious.

Josh wrote a review of H&V a few months ago and recommends it. The food quality has been improved, according to him. I say keep it and find out for yourself. My family ate at Tusker in 2012 and weren't impressed. We have no desire to include it in future plans on it's own merits. Keep what works with your schedule.

I think you have nailed the main ones. They may really like 1900 with the Mad Hatter for Breakfast or the stepsisters for dinner. Sci-Fi would be a good pick as well. Beyond that, Biergarten was my first thought (Akershus is perfect if they want princesses). I'd stay away from Chef Mickey. The stories of the food were true for us, and service was pretty bad. You have some other great restaurants right there at the Contemporary so I'd avoid it.

I hear you. We did the Mama Melrose package, but that's us. The kids will love the Fantasmic show no matter where you eat!

Would they like T-Rex better than Raglan Road? Its pretty cool and there's a lot going on. Its not just for little kids.

They are very Irish (two have the red hair to prove it lol) so I thought they might enjoy the dancers. The oldest was obsessed with dinosaurs before she turned into a teen. I want to surprise them but I'll ask my sister. Then if they hate it I can blame it on her.

Ohana for dinner-- they do games, hula lessons, etc.
Crystal palace for breakfast-- typical breakfast buffet food but its less crowded and we love Pooh and friends and their awesome interaction!
Cape May Cafe for breakfast-- our kids loved the beach themed characters and doing a surfing parade around the restaurant!
Chef Mickey-- even though it has mixed reviews we always love going for dinner! If you can get in right at 5PM, the service and food is usually best though.

I would keep checking for Be Our Guest to at least get in for a quick service meal. The atmosphere is amazing and there are always cancellations! For our trip in August, I scheduled BOG at the last minute for breakfast due to someone else's cancellation and it was one of our favorites!

For character dining, I like:
Tusker House
Chef Mickey
Crystal Palace

For non-character dining, I think these could be fun for them:
Coral Reef (if into fish and sea life)
50s Prime Time Cafe
