I see from the Disney site that you can rent all types of boats on CastAway Cay. The only thing I've heard of are paddle boats and kayaks. What are Hobie cats, Aqua Fins, and Aqua Trikes? Does anyone have pictures of any these? Also, which one do you recommend renting? What was the most fun?

In my opinion, the funnest thing to rent is just a raft. FLoating around is just heavenly!!

Hi,

I don't know what Aqua Fins are (we are going on our first cruise in 2006), but HobieCats are a brand of catamarans. The web site for the brand is: http://www.hobiecat.com/index.html HobieCats are lots of fun and not too hard to sail.

The water trikes in our area look just like really big trikes. The front wheel has blades that paddle the "trike" through the water.

It is not for renting but an "excursion", the Banana Boat ride was soooooo much fun, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, $14/person. My Aunt and cousin did 2 rides in a row they liked it so much!!

My DH and DD's (16 and 14) found that they really enjoyed the Kayaks. This was their first time and they loved it. It's already on the things to do list for our next cruise. :earboy2:

We also loved the banana boat! I would love to do it again but this cruise I will have my 76 year old mom with me and I don't htink she would be into that LOL..especially since she can't swim!

I am second mketting on this one.....DH, DS11 and I did this and laughed our heads off, or maybe it was them laughing at me. I got "stuck" in the front and got sprayed the whole time. Kinda rough on the contacts! It was a blast!

What is the banana boat ride. Can someone give a detailed description? Is it for all ages?

Thanks
Jenn

It's a giant thing that looks like two bananas stuck together the long way, people sit on the banannas(there's strapping and handles and stuff) and a boat tows you out over the waves. It's a pretty rough ride, definitely not for 76 year old moms.

yes, renting a raft to float on is well worth it....EXCEPT that i was so relaxed i nodded off for five minutes and when i woke up the waves had pulled me so far out i was stuck and my cousin had to swim out and get me. i couldn't swim back myself with the raft because the current was so strong :guilty: i also went parasailing there for the first time in my life, and it was glorious. so beautiful, i would take a disney cruise again if we could just go to CC everyday.

My DH and I went on the banana boat when we were there on our honeymoon - I HATED it!!! I was so scared. There were a bunch of 12-13 year old boys on when we were on and they thought that it would be SO funny to tip the boat and dump us all in the water. I spent most of the time yelling at the 12 year olds!!!!!!

oh, that's funny PatricenPete!!!! I've done my share of yelling at punk kids while at the parks! One set of teenage girls got on the Dinosaur ride and sat right behind me and my DH and two girls (they were little at the time) and all they did was scream - even when there was nothing going on. I politely asked them to stop screaming because they were scaring my girls (they were 7 & 8) but that made them scream louder!!!! The disrespect they had shown was sickening, not to mention the headache they gave us. When we exited the ride, as we were going up the stairs, the girls started pushing my daughters out of the way. I had to yell at them again, and while they were pushing my girls, I stuck my leg out and tripped one.

Has anyone tried the Aqua Trike ? Good for little kids? Chubby mom's and dads? only good for 16 year old athletic boys? Anyone??

i believe the aqua trikes are for 5 & up. when we went, it looked fun, and we wanted to go on it. but our boys were too little! (2 & 4 at the time) maybe they've changed the policy/age limit since? :sunny:

Do you need reservations for the Aqua Trike or the Banana boats? What about taking your own rafts?

Everyone says to take your own scuba gear, but what about floats? Do you all take your own floats to CC?

The parasailing is alot of fun...but my favorite thing is to rent a blue float (at Serenity Bay) and just relax.

By noon, there will be plenty of floats "floating" by beggin g for someone to hop aboard. I too floated out too far, and my son was terrified watching me from the shore. This time around I will not be using floats, I am not a good swimmer and it was a scary experience to me.
