Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

I just noticed that your signature says your name is "Jen". I didn't realize we had another Jen on here. Was that always in your signature, and I was just oblivious? (Sorry Captain, no offense intended.)

As usual, I completely missed it. ;)

This is the second time i've shared it. I showed him your world showcase picture you had printed. Don't go getting all big-headed on me now. Oh wait....nevermind...

Yeah, too late, right?!

Yup, names Jen and it's always been there. ;)

Well, ah, um, "Hi Jen!" :wave2:

It was cool in the mornings but by early afternoon it was warm enough. We just didn't get a chance to make it over there. When we go in October I am going to spend more time taking everything in. I have plenty of down time planned. I also hope to go back in January and late feb/march next year. I'm not sure yet though. I finish school in January so I will have much more free time until I start my Masters degree. If only my job paid me more money.

Okay, October then. That little guy is going to love that water play area!

There's never enough money. For instance, I just found out I have to buy a set of new tires today. :headache:

:lmao: For me it was fine. Free Sam Adams. My beer palate is not that sophisticated. :snooty: Or maybe that is why I don't drink a lot of beer, I have not found the "right" one yet.

I'm sure my beer palate is not sophisticated at all either. It takes me months to get through a 12-pack.

You could photoshop it in.

That's a great idea. I've got a backlog of photoshop ideas. Putting Marlene's beret on her on the pool slide, Candi joining our squinty photopass pictures, and I think there was another...does anyone remember what it was?

Watching always watching. What goes under must come up.

Well, we hope so anyway!

You might think so. I have been busy at work lately so not really able to check in but I had a moment and there it was. It is almost like I get a psychic vibe or something.

If you could have any super-power that's the one you want -- a spidy-sense when Glennbo is about to post a new chapter. :rotfl2:

You know what sucks about being the guy behind the camera? You never get pictures of yourself! But I guess that fancy DSLR isn't quite waterproof to take a first person shot of yourself going down the slide :rotfl:

The camera could do it, but that'd be the last picture it ever got.

Love the details about doing laundry. Moving the wet clothes over to the dryer was of the utmost importance!

I was building to the fact that we had 2 loads of laundry that we were trying to get dry leading up to check-out time. But when I read it I thought, "oh this is crazy!" Instead of deleting it, I added that thought about what great detail you get in this TR.

Nice, relaxing last day. Can't say I'd ever be able to do that. My body would be screaming for rest while my mind and heart want to spend up to the last second possible at the parks. I love the Kidani pool though. The music they pipe is the cherry on top :thumbsup2

I know, the parks are so tempting. But we had been going, going, going, for 8 days straight. It was time to lounge for a little bit. Even then, it's hard to relax knowing that Magical Depress is getting closer by the minute.

Okay Glen in the pool pix there are in the right hand corner of 2 of them the top of Judy's head !!The second one shows her glasses and I spotted that right away , but the pix before it has alittle less of her head but it is in then exact same position so has to be her !!! So I win!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

The funny thing is, I went back to look...knowing full well that you're making this up!

Hiya, Glenn! As always, I've a LOT of catching up to do, which means a LOT of reading and today may be the perfect day after the Baby Doll Tea Party with my 2 1/2 yr old grand-daughter, Sophia. Major rainstorm = catch up on Glenn's long running TR!!! It's like a good series you hate to see ever end. :cool1:

Hi Christine! It's been a while since you've posted on here, so I'll give you an official :welcome: smiley!

Aw, thanks!

Sorry I've been MIA for months - had a lot of time to read after my surgery, then took a DIS break, now back to catching up, just not clever enough to contribute to the much enjoyable banter! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

That's fine. It's one nice thing about the DIS...you can come and go as needed, or as life's circumstances dictate.

You don't have to worry about being clever or witty to contribute (I'm sure Marv would say that I never let that stop me!). I still like to hear what you have to say.

As usual, I completely missed it. ;)

I wasn't sure that you'd catch the reference to you. :rotfl:

Great last day pool pics!
I'm impressed that Judy installed the showerhead her herself AND she has you trained to do laundry. I like Judy! :thumbsup2

The pool pictures certainly looked like everyone was enjoying their relapsing. I am sad your report is almost over and I still have seven months to suffer until my next trip!

Nice Relaxing time at the pool is a great way to end your stay.:thumbsup2 We always have DME at 4am:scared1: Not a fun day at all.:sad2:

Day 9 - Part 1

Okay, back to the trip. We put the wet clothes from the washer into the dryer, and another load into the washing machine. I know, it’s details like this that separate this trip report from all others.

I have to admit, this completely cracked me up! So thanks for that. I needed a good belly laugh!

Now that I had some photo documentation completed, I was able to get in the pool and then lounge in a chair for a while. It was heavenly. I wrote in my trip notes that I loved the peaceful music and bird noises that are piped-in. It was so peaceful.

And that is what I call the icing on the cake while staying at AKL or Kidani. That wonderful background noise. I also find it incredibly soothing. More so than any other resort. It just works perfectly for me!

I really don't want your TR to end, but I am really curious what your family has planned for their next adventure!

Well, now that you and I both have spent hours replying and trying to catch up, it's time to go a'visitin'.

The first thing that struck me was the title- we use that exact same phrase around our house too- "relapse!" Translated it might mean chill out, hang loose, or even knock it off!.

Then I was entertained by the splishy-splashy fun you all had- and that was right after being amused by assorted laundry musings. The last time I laughed out loud over laundry business, it involved a Great Biscuit and some titilating articles of clothing. :lmao:

Awesome update, Glenn! You'll have to give me a pass on the lengthy multi-quoting techniques I try to get in. But this is the first bona fide beautiful day we've really had and my son with strong arms needs direction on how to dig up what needs digging. :goodvibes

When we were at beach club last summer we had one of those an-hour-later-and-the-clothes-are-still-wet!?! dryers.:headache: We called maintenance. He stuck a thermometer in it and said it was heating up. So I tried a smaller load and it still took forever. called maintenance again....this time the original guy brought a second guy with him. Come to find out the vents in the back were all plugged up....they vacuumed the vents for half an hour.:rolleyes1. After that it worked fine the rest of the week, but it sure was a pain that day!

Great last day pool pics!

Thank you!

I'm impressed that Judy installed the showerhead her herself AND she has you trained to do laundry. I like Judy! :thumbsup2

Well, that's not too frequent of an occurrence. (It's not every day that you need a showerhead installed.) ;)

I kinda like her too!

The pool pictures certainly looked like everyone was enjoying their relapsing. I am sad your report is almost over and I still have seven months to suffer until my next trip!

Thanks. Yep, it was a nice late-morning.

I know...I'm trying to drag it out as long as possible.

Nice Relaxing time at the pool is a great way to end your stay.:thumbsup2 We always have DME at 4am:scared1: Not a fun day at all.:sad2:

Yikes! 4am?! That's waaay too early. You must have to be just about completely packed the night before.

I have to admit, this completely cracked me up! So thanks for that. I needed a good belly laugh!

You are most welcome!

And that is what I call the icing on the cake while staying at AKL or Kidani. That wonderful background noise. I also find it incredibly soothing. More so than any other resort. It just works perfectly for me!

I really love lounging around that pool.

I really don't want your TR to end, but I am really curious what your family has planned for their next adventure!

I'm wondering the same thing! I may post some ideas in the wrap up.

Well, now that you and I both have spent hours replying and trying to catch up, it's time to go a'visitin'.

Oh goody!

The first thing that struck me was the title- we use that exact same phrase around our house too- "relapse!" Translated it might mean chill out, hang loose, or even knock it off!.

I knew I couldn't be the only one who said "relapse" in place of "relax". I'm not surprised that you use it at your house.

Then I was entertained by the splishy-splashy fun you all had- and that was right after being amused by assorted laundry musings. The last time I laughed out loud over laundry business, it involved a Great Biscuit and some titilating articles of clothing. :lmao:

Ah yes, I remember that chapter quite well. Quite an eye opener.

Awesome update, Glenn! You'll have to give me a pass on the lengthy multi-quoting techniques I try to get in. But this is the first bona fide beautiful day we've really had and my son with strong arms needs direction on how to dig up what needs digging. :goodvibes

Thank you! No problem, I've had to go easy on the multi-quoting lately too due to time constraints also. There's not enough time for everything.

Just Checking in!!! Another tiring day, and I am ready for bed already !!!:headache:

I saw this soon after you posted it, but was going to bed also!

Yeah, that sounds like the same thing. I checked the lint trap of course, but it was clear. Since it was our last day there was no time to call maintenance to look at it. Unfortunately, it's probably still like that.

Great update. We really enjoyed that pool and pool area. I can't believe your TR is almost over....even if it IS almost exactly a year after our trips!! :rotfl2: We are re-booked for this June (after all those cancelations!!) about a week earlier than we all went last year. I'm hoping that one week will make it not as hot. :rolleyes1 Anyhoo, we haven't told DS that we have re-booked. We are going to surprise him as we are leaving for our trip. I've always wanted to do that. We are staying at our usual...OKW in a 1 bedroom but recently decided to add on 2 days so that we can go check out Universal and IOA this time. For those 2 nights we booked a studio at the Boardwalk. Can't wait to try that out!!

So, you know....it has been an entire YEAR since your last trip. I think you guys should re-book. I know you must have points burning a hole in your pocket! I would also like to add that we are going during Star Wars weekends again AND the new Star Tours will be freshly open. :thumbsup2
Yeah, you're thinking about it aren't you? popcorn::

Evening again Glen !!A good night's rest did wonders !! Shame I have to be in at 6 a.m tomorrow or I'd be up half the night !!!!!

Even though I look a little hunched over. (But you know what that means -- I get to use my favorite smiley!)

smiliehunchback.gif

And that smiley makes me laugh so much, I just had to quote it!!! I love that you found another opportunity to use it. You know how Jordan has a pose? And Rosy has her hot Italians? I think you might get stuck with this and before we know it, pictures of us half-hunched over will be appearing all over the DIS. :rotfl:

Sorry to hear you missed Wishes! That is a shame. It's amazing how much we miss during the trips isn't it? I have a similar list from our last trip where I thought we'd get to everything!

Love how you spent your last hours at Kidani. I enjoy rushing to a park and back before ME, but there truly is something to be said for enjoying the resort those last few hours. Methinks this will be our plan for our next family trip. ::yes::

When we were at beach club last summer we had one of those an-hour-later-and-the-clothes-are-still-wet!?! dryers.:headache: We called maintenance. He stuck a thermometer in it and said it was heating up.

I know I already replied to this post Tonya, but I was just wondering....exactly how does one take a dryer's temperature? Where'd they stick the thermometer?

Hi Christine! :wave2: Thanks for checking in.

Great update. We really enjoyed that pool and pool area. I can't believe your TR is almost over....even if it IS almost exactly a year after our trips!! :rotfl2:

Hard to believe huh?

We are re-booked for this June (after all those cancelations!!) about a week earlier than we all went last year. I'm hoping that one week will make it not as hot. :rolleyes1

Oh yes, I'm sure it'll be muuuuch cooler. Better pack a jacket. ;)

Anyhoo, we haven't told DS that we have re-booked. We are going to surprise him as we are leaving for our trip. I've always wanted to do that.

That'll be great! Get it on video.

We are staying at our usual...OKW in a 1 bedroom but recently decided to add on 2 days so that we can go check out Universal and IOA this time. For those 2 nights we booked a studio at the Boardwalk. Can't wait to try that out!!

I'd like to check out Harry Potter-land next time. It won't be too hard to convince the family -- they're all fans. Even Judy's read the books, which is saying something because she's not a big reader.

I'd love to try out some of the other DVC resorts, but with 5 in our family we're kind of limited because of occupancy. At Boardwalk we'd have to go to a 2 bedroom unit and I don't want to use that many points. Although I've thought about doing that and maybe inviting other people (parental units or siblings) since there'd be extra beds. I think Marv told me that some of the OKW 1-bedroom suites now have the sleeper chair and can therefore accommodate 5 people though.

So, you know....it has been an entire YEAR since your last trip. I think you guys should re-book. I know you must have points burning a hole in your pocket!

I have 7 whole points in the bank, which I will lose unless I put them towards an RCI trade (or re-book in 2011 as you point out). I'm not sure about the RCI process, but Judy promised Lauren a graduation reward getaway weekend trip next year and they're thinking about NYC...maybe we'd use some points for that. Anyway, other than those 7 points we have the whole year's-worth alotment, which I plan on banking into 2012.

I would also like to add that we are going during Star Wars weekends again AND the new Star Tours will be freshly open. :thumbsup2
Yeah, you're thinking about it aren't you? popcorn::

:darth: :ewok: :yoda: :chewy: Ooooo, you're making it tempting Cherie.

But with 2 years-worth of points, 2012 could be BIG. :rolleyes1

Evening again Glen !!A good night's rest did wonders !! Shame I have to be in at 6 a.m tomorrow or I'd be up half the night !!!!!

Hi Rosie! It's good that your dedication and worth ethic keeps you from staying up too late.

And that smiley makes me laugh so much, I just had to quote it!!! I love that you found another opportunity to use it.

I'd looked at that picture a dozen times before I ever got anywhere near this part of the trip report and it never occurred to me to use that smiley until I previewed the post!

You know how Jordan has a pose? And Rosy has her hot Italians? I think you might get stuck with this and before we know it, pictures of us half-hunched over will be appearing all over the DIS. :rotfl:

Oh boy, I hope not....maybe everyone could get a checkered dress shirt instead?

Sorry to hear you missed Wishes! That is a shame. It's amazing how much we miss during the trips isn't it? I have a similar list from our last trip where I thought we'd get to everything!

Like everyone says, you have to have a list like that so that you can keep coming back. You tried to take it a little slower on you last trip, so hopefully "relaxing" wasn't one of the items on your list.

Love how you spent your last hours at Kidani. I enjoy rushing to a park and back before ME, but there truly is something to be said for enjoying the resort those last few hours. Methinks this will be our plan for our next family trip. ::yes::

And a plan is formed! :thumbsup2

Oh boy, I hope not....maybe everyone could get a checkered dress shirt instead?

Sorry Glenn, but if I have a choice between taking a half-hunched over picture of myself and a checkered dress shirt I'm going with taking a half-hunched over picture of myself. :rotfl2:

Hi Glen , just passing time till I have to go to work !!Christine and I are going back and forth with our plans for December 2012 , as to where to stay !!It's between AKL, BMV and OKW or again there is the New Animation resort !! Hopefully by this December we will have decided !!:rotfl2:

I think the dryer's are just that way. I stayed at FW in Dec 2010 and I had to do some laundry and it seamed I was drying them forever.

Looks like you guys still had fun on your last morning! It's always sad though. I cried at checkout one year when I went up to the CM a couple of years ago. For some reason they didn't have express checkout back so you had to physically checkout. Anyway good thing I had sunglasses on because I started to tear up when the CM said See you soon!

IHard to believe huh?

:rotfl:

Oh yes, I'm sure it'll be muuuuch cooler. Better pack a jacket. ;)

:lmao: Too funny!! Yeah, I think I'm probably out of luck on that one.

That'll be great! Get it on video.

Definitely! :thumbsup2

I'd like to check out Harry Potter-land next time. It won't be too hard to convince the family -- they're all fans. Even Judy's read the books, which is saying something because she's not a big reader.

We can't wait to check it out. We haven't read the books but are definitely lovers of the movies!

Oh yeah, I hadn't thought about the fact that you have 5. I have a friend who is a "party of five" and they have problems finding what they want for a reasonable price too.

Ahhh, that sounds like a great plan! Banking into 2012 would make for a great adventure later.

:darth: :ewok: :yoda: :chewy: Ooooo, you're making it tempting Cherie.

:rolleyes1

But with 2 years-worth of points, 2012 could be BIG. :rolleyes1

You could have a big family blowout! Or you could go for a much longer trip!! Either way sounds fantastic! :wizard:
