Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

Sorry about that. It sounds like you knew about it and were on a mission to find it. I had no idea, and was just mildly shocked when I ran across it.

But like you, I know good TR material when I see it. ;)

I was... well.... Someone was. :rolleyes1 Let me just say, there was massive success, and mucho fun was had.

Yeah, like blobs of poo food.

No pool hopping!

Goody two shoes.

That was a guuud one. Or should I say Juan.

:sad2: Some are Juanderful; some are bad.

Capt. O. posted a link, but it's kind of hard to see the mower.

Eek, still need to show you mine.

We had planned on treating our friends to this show in July. However, that trip has ALSO been canceled and rescheduled. :sad2:[/COLOR]

That's awesome for you then -- you can enjoy the festivities and not have to worry that you need to watch what's on your son's fork every bite.

And that's EXACTLY what it's like....I feel like I stare at him constantly while we are eating. Desperately looking for any signs of a reaction. It makes it hard for DH and I to have a conversation or for us to fully enjoy a meal out. It is VERY NICE when we do get to sit and relax.

Does it normally taste like that, or is it just theirs? (blech :crazy2: )

I'm not sure. I think Sangria is wine mixed with fruit juices and with chunks of said fruit floating around in it. Which actually sounds good to me.....and then I took a sip! BLECH!!! is right! :rotfl2:

Oh thanks. Hopefully she'll still want to leave the nest in a couple of years.

:rotfl:

Thank you. It's not the easiest thing to carry around, but I'm much happier with the pictures than the old point-and-hope.

:lmao: I like that...."point-and-hope"

I had no prior knowledge of that picture whatsoever! But it's so strange, that I can understand that has been discussed before.
omgblinky.gif

As many times as we have gone, I can't believe DH has not said anything about it. He must not have ever really looked at it before. I always forget to tell him about it too. I'll have to remember this time. I'd love to get his take on it. :lmao:

.

The Hoop looks soooooooo fun!

But wait -- did you rate the cornbread? I love cornbread.

I haven't been to the Hoop-de-Doo in, I dunno, 25 years? Maybe even 30? Next time I'm there on a family trip, though (doesn't seem like the perfect solo activity, unfortunately), I'm totally dragging everyone out there!

Like Liesa, my mind went straight to Brokeback Mountain when I saw that weird painting. And then my mind went to some strange and disturbing places that wouldn't be appropriate for a family board. I wonder what art is in the ladies' room?

Are you easily distracted?

Squirrel! :squirrel:

confused-smiley-17512.gif

Um, those were the checks and balances.

Am I easily distracted? I don't think so, no, not really. Wait, what did you just ask me?

Well it's good to know that you were pulling for Marv and I and obviously greatly influenced the Rules Committee against handing out penalties. So thank you.:goodvibes

You know, your review is making me think my family and in-laws would love the Hoop. Thanks again for such a detailed review, despite the lack of food pics.:goodvibes

WooHoo!! I won! Of course it means nothing in the grand scheme, but I'm feeling pretty good that my constant lurking has paid off!

It was a well-deserved victory! And you were lurking at the right place at the right time!

I remember the Diamond Horseshoe revue from when I was a kid. It was a cute show but I have a feeling hoop de doo is may be a cross between Yeeha Bob and the Diamond Horseshoe. I remember the dancing and the singing from DHR but not too much comedy. Hoop looks like more interaction and comedy from HDD. Ofcourse not ever seeing HDD except in pictures i may not be accurate. :rolleyes1

And I've never seen Diamond Horseshoe thing, so I'm in the sam boat, but I suspect you're right. Lots of comedy in Hoop. :)

Dang I was wrong again !!!

Keepin' the streak alive!

I was... well.... Someone was. :rolleyes1 Let me just say, there was massive success, and mucho fun was had.

I can't wait to read about it!

Eek, still need to show you mine.

Still waiting.... Zzzzzz.

That sounds awful. I hope it gets better over time.

As many times as we have gone, I can't believe DH has not said anything about it. He must not have ever really looked at it before. I always forget to tell him about it too. I'll have to remember this time. I'd love to get his take on it.

Ooo. If you do, I'd love to hear about it too.

The Hoop looks soooooooo fun!

We had a great time!

But wait -- did you rate the cornbread? I love cornbread.

No, I don't think I gave the cornbread a rating, but it was really good! :thumbsup2

I haven't been to the Hoop-de-Doo in, I dunno, 25 years? Maybe even 30? Next time I'm there on a family trip, though (doesn't seem like the perfect solo activity, unfortunately), I'm totally dragging everyone out there!

Whattaya mean...you're barely 30 yourself.

I agree, it's not a solo thing, but put it on the list for the next family trip.

Like Liesa, my mind went straight to Brokeback Mountain when I saw that weird painting. And then my mind went to some strange and disturbing places that wouldn't be appropriate for a family board. I wonder what art is in the ladies' room?

That picture really sends you mind on a trip, doesn't it!

Good question...can anyone report on the art in the ladies' room?

Am I easily distracted? I don't think so, no, not really. Wait, what did you just ask me?

I dunno, I don't remember. I guess it wasn't important.

Well it's good to know that you were pulling for Marv and I and obviously greatly influenced the Rules Committee against handing out penalties. So thank you.:goodvibes

That's just the kinda guy I am. ;)

You know, your review is making me think my family and in-laws would love the Hoop. Thanks again for such a detailed review, despite the lack of food pics.:goodvibes

It sounds perfect for a group like that. I hope you do it.

Well, the food was just chicken, beans, and ribs....I'm sure you've seen those before. :scared: And you got a glimpe of the sauce. :rotfl2:

Well Liesa should be able too...... Oh yeah she can't never mind.:rolleyes1 But I bet she has a picture of the Men's room.:lmao:

As for the Women's room I have heard it is a boring covered wagon picture??? Nothing like the Men's room. :lmao:

I think you're right about it being a good fit. My in-laws LOVE the Country Bear Jamboree. They were literally doubled over with laughter when we saw it. DH and I kept looking at each other trying to figure out why they thought it was so funny! Slapstick country humor fits them to a "t".

Food wise, it sounds right up my family's alley. They love Famous Dave's and always get that huge family style meal with chicken, ribs, beans, corn bread...sound familiar?;) And they serve it on a trash can lid, not a used one of course!

Another factor is that the in-laws were kind of hinting around they'd like to stay at Fort Wilderness. DH and I aren't interested in staying there, especially after staying at the GF! (Boy that sounds snobby, doesn't it?) But I think a good compromise would be the Hoop. We could get there early and putter around looking at the resort a bit.:thumbsup2

phew I'm all caught up, I started following your TR when you started and kept up pretty good and then stopped:confused3

When I returned to DISing I hadn't been getting updates, well I finally realized that you had a second thread started, so am finally all caught up.

And now you are almost done. LOVE that the girls got to pick a pearl

Love all the individual time you got to spend with each kid (I had already commented on the special time with James, but am just glad you got some alone time with each kid, that makes the trip so special, I'm sure they will remember for years to come)

LOVE the phone prank attempts and success

hmmm....fun DISmeets both during trip and otherwise

And what a wild time at the Hoop :thumbsup2

Have very much enjoyed catching up today, thanks for the great read:goodvibes

Yeah, I'm hearing that she may have a picture of the art in the Men's room. Very interesting!

:rotfl2: I think that's the first time I've heard "Country Bear Jamboree" and "doubled over with laughter" used together! I mean, it's cute and all, but...

Yeah, that does sound familiar. It sounds like the Whispering Canyon Cafe skillet!

Yeah, snobby.

I think you're right -- you need to book an ADR at Hoop for that crew.

Evening Glen just popped over to see who is picking on who !!!!:rotfl2:

No picking going on here. Maybe on Marv's thread.

Aw, I'm sorry...I was afraid that I lost some people with the switch. I wish we didn't have the limit on the number of pages. Well, thank you so much for joining back in and getting caught up. At least you didn't have to endure that dreaded between-chapter suspense!

And now you are almost done. LOVE that the girls got to pick a pearl

They loved it too! ::yes::

Those were some fun moments. :)

Agreed! There are some great people on the DIS and I've had the pleasure to meet several of them in person. :goodvibes

And what a wild time at the Hoop :thumbsup2

Woo hoo!

Thank you for reading!

What do you all think about the News from Pakistan !!!! I know if I had a family member or friend killed in 911 I would be a very happy person !!Not sure that it will end the terrorism but at least they have lost their leader who was the master mind behind all the attacks !!

I hope that it puts an end to Al Qaeda and terrorism, in general.

i think u are reading to much on my report.
sometimes that R doesnt press down all the way huh glenn

Oh man, why'd it have to be you, to find my typo. Eating crow doesn't taste good.

My only excuse is that when I was typing I was already envisioning the jokes that might come from "streak", since we already tease Rosie about flashing and lap dancing.

well, now I'm totally wishing I had played out my fun over in the men's room (WHY YES! I do have a picture of it- how ever did you know?!) a bit differently. Ah well... always fun stuff for next time.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I kept thinking, what in the HECK is the steak?? :lmao:

My DH and I went to the Hoop in September 2009 and had the two top front and center for the last show of the evening. It was pouring rain when we caught the boat from the MK to the campground and we were all soaked hanging out outside the entrance crowded near the restrooms. I remember the CMs bringing out hand towels for us to use to dry off and cloth napkins and tablecloths once those were out. So no staged picture for us. :thumbsup2 DH was picked to go on stage and play the role of the Indian, he had a blast. The food was okay but that was the trip where we had the DxDDP and ate at lots of amazing signature restaurants so HDDR didn't come out on top for food. I'm sure we'll go back when our son is old enough to enjoy it, if it's still around.

I was a huge fan of the Diamond Horseshoe Revue in Disneyland. That was my dream job when I was in junior high. We have home videos that have recently resurfaced from '91 when some of the cowboys sang to me. The Golden Horseshoe Revue in WDW was the same show. I've never seen Yeehaw Bob, but may have to check him out on our next trip since we're staying at POFQ thanks to my SIL's great cast member discount. :cool1:

It's always hard to know how to play those cards. Do I divulge it now, or later? Hmmm.

One of my rare typo's and Dan (of all people!) finds it! :sad2:

I haven't gotten to the next chapter yet of course, but it poured while we were enjoying the show, so we got lucky on the timing.

So no staged picture for us. :thumbsup2

I think you were better off, unless you wanted to buy it of course.

DH was picked to go on stage and play the role of the Indian, he had a blast.

That role looked like fun. The other adult-male role, however. I had been warned about that from a guy at church who got selected for the other role. But judging by my church friend and the guy who was picked at our show, I think I've noticed a trend that they tend to pick guys with a slightly bigger waistline than I have, so I probably wasn't at risk.

The food was okay but that was the trip where we had the DxDDP and ate at lots of amazing signature restaurants so HDDR didn't come out on top for food.

Yeah, it's "stick to your ribs" food, not gourmet stuff. When it comes out in a metal bucket, you don't hear too many people say, "Oh, the presentation!" (Which is what my wife said the first time I took her to a really nice restaurant. I was like, "what?"...I didn't even understand what that sentence meant.)

I'm sure we'll go back when our son is old enough to enjoy it, if it's still around.

I knew that it was one of Disney's longest-running shows, so I googled it and found something that said it's been playing since 1974. So, it seems likely that it'll stick around for another couple of years for you. And if they stopped, what else would they do with Pioneer Hall?

I was a huge fan of the Diamond Horseshoe Revue in Disneyland. That was my dream job when I was in junior high. We have home videos that have recently resurfaced from '91 when some of the cowboys sang to me. The Golden Horseshoe Revue in WDW was the same show.

Oh, you definitely have to check out Yeehaa Bob. Especially if you're staying nearby....you can just stroll home.

See that;s what ya' get for teasing Rosie :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

glad to help in your spelling glenn.:thumbsup2

i kept thinking i missed a conversation about steaks?

and thats why i dont tease my elders rosie.

It's always hard to know how to play those cards. Do I divulge it now, or later? Hmmm.

NO, I meant, when I was there, I should have done the whole thing differently. I definitely think I could have added at least one more layer of fun factor to the whole thing, but had a blonde moment.

i kept thinking i missed a conversation about steaks?

Well, if it's about steaks or bacon, this is the right thread.
