Most Expensive / Moist Exhausting Continued - Final thoughts and wrap-up

Yessssss!! An update! (Even though I hadn't given you permission to move forward yet) And another Yessssssssssssss!!! for helping me, once again, to procrastinate on school work!

I have stayed at Ft. Wilderness many times and I have never been to HDR. It looked like it was a lot of fun.

The picture in the bathroom sure is a little odd. Weird.

p.s. I heard that some creeper was taking pictures in the mens bathroom after the show one night. I guess I know who it was now. :rotfl:

I guess I better go do that school work now so I can spend more time with the IL's tomorrow. :rolleyes1 Unless you want to do another update and I can tell them i'm working on school stuff. :rotfl2:

I got 5 Judys. Now to go back and read --- and recount :rolleyes1

ETA
I think 6 now... I see the very top of what i think is Judys head.

Ok, that art work in the men's restroom is weird. Very weird. It kind of looks like they're all scratching their behinds! Perhaps they contracted chicken pox on the open trail?

I have seen that picture before - only the picture i have NOT been in the men's room unlike SOME people.:rolleyes1

I was thinking Poison Ivy??:rotfl2:

I think that picture should be called something like "Brokeback Wilderness" or something.:scared:

I got 6 Judy's.

Day 8 - Part 7

We signed in and were instructed to get our picture taken at their official Hoop de Doo picture-taking-spot amongst some wooden crates and other old-timey items. After the picture was taken, I tried to give the photographer our Photopass card, but he said that they don’t use Photopass for this. It would all be explained inside. Hmmm, okay.

Hmmm.... is right. Sounds a bit fishy already.

On the porch at the far end of the building, we found some empty chairs and a checker board.

Most comfy chairs on property! Can't beat that porch!

Hey, I’ve gotta enjoy it now. One of these days he just might beat me at some of these games.

Better hurry can catch those moments while you can. He'll be guffawing at YOU all too soon, Pops.

We wandered back to the porch where the ladies were waiting, and a little after 7 we were allowed to enter Pioneer Hall. I’d splurged for the Category 1 seating and we were in the front row, all the way to the left side of the stage. They were pretty good seats, and the kids loved being that close. Our server took our drink orders, and Judy and I both got sangrias.

This is starting to sound eerily like our time there.

A guy came around with our picture. He said, “You recognize those people?” And I was impressed by what a really, really nice picture it was. It was one of the best we’d taken all week. But it cost an extra $30! The price didn’t matter all that much, I was just seeing red that it was additional. I mean, I’d already shelled-out big bucks for the Photopass CD, and category 1 seating at the show. There was no way that I was going to pay more money. I declined the picture and sent the guy on his way.

UGH! I KNEW that was coming! But I saw it much earlier than you, so never bothered to get in line.

The first song they perform is the All-States song. When they got to Pennsylvania they rhymed it with “Wouldn’t blame ya.” As in, we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to come here from Pennsylvania. Hey!

YOu could always come to Oregon- NOTHING rhymes with it.

At one point in the song, and I don’t remember what he rhymed it with, but Six Bits pointed at me and said, “I hope he’s stayin’ sober!”

With that sangria, I have NO doubt whatsoever you were NOT having a problem that night.

Maybe Six Bits should change his name to “Big Spits”!

:worship::worship::worship: WOW! That was guuuuud!

I think Molly wins this round (I counted six Judy's as well). Great update. We've never been to the Hoop, not even when the kids were little.

Agree, six Judy's! Great update Glenn. Hoop looks like a lot of fun, and it looks/sounds like you guys had a great time! (And nice of you to cover for Liesa posting that men's room picture for her.......) :rolleyes1 Looks sorta like those guys have been around Rosie's Place and picked up some of those bedbugs!!! And for the joke about changing underwear.........ba-dum-dum......ching!!!

I'm still betting you got volunteered to go on stage, but the rest of the family hasn't been trained well enough yet in the art of taking over camera duty!!! Need to work on that before the next trip....... :rotfl2:

5 Judy's! I decided to play the game tonight haha.

Hey Disneymoon09! I think you're right, but I've gotta find out where all of these "6 Judy" people are coming up with an extra before I declare you the winner.

6 Judy's!

ETA
I think 6 now... I see the very top of what i think is Judys head.

I got 6 Judy's.

I think Molly wins this round (I counted six Judy's as well).

Agree, six Judy's!

Okay, let me know where these 6 Judy's are....I think there are only 5!

4 judys !!!

This is a unique answer, so that's a good strategy Rosie....but there are definitely at least 5.

ETA: Wonderful update! I loved it as I've always been curious about that dinner show. Wow, it looks like such a great time. Though I think I could do without being spit on, poor James!

Thanks Molly. We had a great time at the show. That was a completely inadvertent spittage....and who said that this "moist" trip had to all be the result of humidity, perspiration, or precipitation? Dang, I wish I'd have thought of that when I wrote the chapter!

Aw, what a sweet sweet thing for Lauren to say about being around her family! That must have just warmed your heart, it would've warmed mine. You have a nice group of kids Glenn, a real bunch of cuties!

Yes it did! Aw thanks, I think you're right!

Marlene's nose was too funny! At first I thought I had a smudge on my computer screen! Then I realized it was some sort of sauce. Those must have been some good finger licking, nose rubbing ribs!

Maybe computer screens all over the world are being cleaned as a result of that last chapter.

Ok, that art work in the men's restroom is weird. Very weird. It kind of looks like they're all scratching their behinds! Perhaps they contracted chicken pox on the open trail?

I don't know what to make of it. :confused3

Yessssss!! An update! (Even though I hadn't given you permission to move forward yet) And another Yessssssssssssss!!! for helping me, once again, to procrastinate on school work!

And here I thought I was going to be in trouble when you came back and discovered that an update was made during your absence. Well, I'm glad you were peeking-in and found it soon after it was posted!

I have stayed at Ft. Wilderness many times and I have never been to HDR. It looked like it was a lot of fun.

It was! It's worth the trip to Ft. Wilderness even if you're staying somewhere else.

The picture in the bathroom sure is a little odd. Weird.

Thanks for backing me up on that one!

p.s. I heard that some creeper was taking pictures in the mens bathroom after the show one night. I guess I know who it was now. :rotfl:

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep an eye out for creepers loitering around the mens bathroom.

I guess I better go do that school work now so I can spend more time with the IL's tomorrow. :rolleyes1 Unless you want to do another update and I can tell them i'm working on school stuff. :rotfl2:

No, I don't have another update ready, so.....get back to work! (Real work.)

I have seen that picture before - only the picture i have NOT been in the men's room unlike SOME people.:rolleyes1

I imagine that the airport bathroom (that the someone you're referring to visited) didn't have much art in it.

I was thinking Poison Ivy??:rotfl2:

Okay, we have votes for chicken pox and poison ivy.

I think that picture should be called something like "Brokeback Wilderness" or something.:scared:

That's where my thinking was going  but I couldn't find a way to delicately phrase it, like you did. Good job.

Hmmm.... is right. Sounds a bit fishy already.

And I just stood there like

Most comfy chairs on property! Can't beat that porch!

:thumbsup2

Better hurry can catch those moments while you can. He'll be guffawing at YOU all too soon, Pops.

Oh I know! I'm enjoying it, and plastering it all over the internet. Or at least here on my trip report.

This is starting to sound eerily like our time there.

Dun dun dunnnn!

UGH! I KNEW that was coming! But I saw it much earlier than you, so never bothered to get in line.

I can be slow on the uptake sometimes. Hey, did you know that you can use your refillable mugs (assuming you don't lose them) on return trips...you just have to pass a biometric fingerprint scan at the drink station.

smiliehunchback.gif

YOu could always come to Oregon- NOTHING rhymes with it.

Well, that's no fun! ;)

With that sangria, I have NO doubt whatsoever you were NOT having a problem that night.

:crazy2:

:worship::worship::worship: WOW! That was guuuuud!

:cool2: Glad you liked it!

Great update. We've never been to the Hoop, not even when the kids were little.

Well, you always have to have something on your "next time" list!

Great update Glenn. Hoop looks like a lot of fun, and it looks/sounds like you guys had a great time!

Thank you. We did have a great time!

(And nice of you to cover for Liesa posting that men's room picture for her.......) :rolleyes1 Looks sorta like those guys have been around Rosie's Place and picked up some of those bedbugs!!!

Somebody has to watch out for Liesa.

Okay, now we have votes for chicken pox, poison ivy, however you want to categorize "Brokeback Wilderness", and bedbugs.

And for the joke about changing underwear.........ba-dum-dum......ching!!!

It's an oldie but a goodie. When I originally heard it, it was soldiers instead of cowboys, but I think it worked pretty well here.

I'm still betting you got volunteered to go on stage, but the rest of the family hasn't been trained well enough yet in the art of taking over camera duty!!! Need to work on that before the next trip....... :rotfl2:

Maybe being out of the hall right before that act started worked to my benefit and kept me from being picked.

My six Judy sightings, all in first update.......

Pictures 2, 3 (arm), 5, 7 (top of head, bottom left), 8 and finally 20 (very top of head, bottom center - focus on Dolly's butt area.....) :rolleyes1

Great Update GLENN!!!

sounds like the whole fam had a great time at the Hoop!!

It was a family favorite of ours too - Im planning on it for next trip!!

I have to agree with the others that it looks like your "potty pic" is of those cowboys with itches all over them they're trying to scratch!!

it does stink that those pics arent included in the Photopass...like you said, we all pay enough for the dinner so they should be included!!

I got 5 Judys. Now to go back and read --- and recount :rolleyes1

I was thinking Poison Ivy??:rotfl2:

Pat, I think you're my Judy-do nemesis! Whenever Glenn throws up an update, I'm thinking of how careful I need to be because you always see more Judy parts than I do! Your scrutinizing skills are stellar.:thumbsup2

Oh man, poison ivy makes more sense than chicken pox!

Okay, let me know where these 6 Judy's are....I think there are only 5!

Thanks Molly. We had a great time at the show. That was a completely inadvertent spittage....and who said that this "moist" trip had to all be the result of humidity, perspiration, or precipitation? Dang, I wish I'd have thought of that when I wrote the chapter!

Okay, now we have votes for chicken pox, poison ivy, however you want to categorize "Brokeback Wilderness", and bedbugs.

Hmm, I'm starting to think we know what Judy looks like better than you...:rolleyes1:laughing: I think the Judy sighting in question is the one Marv mentioned where the top of her head is barely visible in the bottom center of the picture.:thumbsup2

Oh man, that IS a good way to incorporate "moist"! You should edit it and we'll all pretend it was there before!;) Totally inadvertent, just as you said. The complete opposite of that Seinfeld episode with Keith Hernandez.

:rotfl:Love all of the votes for those itching cowboys! You could add cactus mishap to it too.

My six Judy sightings, all in first update.......

Pictures 2, 3 (arm), 5, 7 (top of head, bottom left), 8 and finally 20 (very top of head, bottom center - focus on Dolly's butt area.....) :rolleyes1

Oh dear, here I am agreeing with Marv. Again. Such a dangerous thing to do, I know.:rolleyes1:rolleyes:

Oh, now I see what you think is a Judy. I forgot about that, I did have to double-check that one. But, I can tell you...

it's not Judy's head, it's James'. Six Bits and Dolly were dancing between our table and the next one, exactly the direction I was facing when taking pictures of James. Judy was more in the corner, right up against the stage.

Now I feel comfortable in awarding this rounds points to: Disneymoon09!!

:cheer2:

5 Judy's was the correct answer. (And Disneymoon09 was incredibly speedy in getting her answer in too!)

Great Update GLENN!!!

sounds like the whole fam had a great time at the Hoop!!

Thanks! We did!

It was a family favorite of ours too - Im planning on it for next trip!!

Sounds good! I don't think I'll plan it again for our next trip...I like to mix it up a bit, but we wouldn't mind doing it again sometime.

I have to agree with the others that it looks like your "potty pic" is of those cowboys with itches all over them they're trying to scratch!!

Prairie fleas?

it does stink that those pics arent included in the Photopass...like you said, we all pay enough for the dinner so they should be included!!

Right. I like it when they basically sneak the money away from me, through Disney math :teacher: rather than something so blatant. It just seems like something lesser amusement parks would do.

Pat, I think you're my Judy-do nemesis! Whenever Glenn throws up an update, I'm thinking of how careful I need to be because you always see more Judy parts than I do! Your scrutinizing skills are stellar.:thumbsup2

You know, a lot more care goes into these updates than "throw up" makes it sound. :rotfl2:

Oh man, poison ivy makes more sense than chicken pox!

It's hard for everyone to contract chicken pox at exactly the same time, but if you say it can happen, I'll believe you.

Hmm, I'm starting to think we know what Judy looks like better than you...:rolleyes1:laughing: I think the Judy sighting in question is the one Marv mentioned where the top of her head is barely visible in the bottom center of the picture.:thumbsup2

Nope, nope, nope....that's James.

Oh man, that IS a good way to incorporate "moist"! You should edit it and we'll all pretend it was there before!;) Totally inadvertent, just as you said. The complete opposite of that Seinfeld episode with Keith Hernandez.

I think I will edit it. Thanks for the inspiration!

:rotfl:Love all of the votes for those itching cowboys! You could add cactus mishap to it too.

Cactus mishap -- love it!

Oh dear, here I am agreeing with Marv. Again. Such a dangerous thing to do, I know.:rolleyes1:rolleyes:

And look where it got you.

:worship: Absolutely AWESOME update glennbo123! It was so great I think I'll forgive the lack of food porn :rotfl:

Maybe the Trail Boss said, “Okay boys, today we’re going to have a change of underwear.”

All the cowboys cheered “Hooray!”

Then the Trail Boss said, “Clem, you change with Zeke. Roy, you change with Jim-Bob. Curtis, you change with…”
:rotfl2: I actually LOLd, good thing nobody came to my desk to see what I was watching... as All7OfUs said... it looks very "Brokeback Mountain" to me :lmao:

My opinion is that the picture is a sign explaining the TSA screening process at some airport in Texas.

You know, a lot more care goes into these updates than "throw up" makes it sound. :rotfl2:

And look where it got you.

Ha ha! I suppose "throw up" doesn't exactly convey a pretty picture does it? I'm sure lots of time goes into your updates too Glenn! They're very witty. Particulary the moist references.:laughing:

Hmm, you may have a point about the chicken pox. Though perhaps they contracted it from some seedy hotel bed they slept on while on the open trail? Maybe that's how they got bed bugs too?;)

What?!?! James' head again?? Ugh, Glenn I'm going to have to ask you to please shave his head for your next Disney trip. It's not the first time it's foiled my Judy count!;)

I know, right? Siding with Marv is always a gamble. And it bit me in the butt yet again.:headache: Though I shouldn't really complain since technically I posted before him. Still...

Glenn! *points finger* I am so disappointed in the lack of food porn. Tsk tsk! :rotfl2:

Great pictures from Hoop! It looks like you had great seats. That cowboy picture is interesting to say the least. And in the men's bathroom no less. You'd think girls would rather see a bunch of cowboys getted dressed... :confused3

Great update!
The cornbread & salad looks good!

Marlene looks beautiful even with sauce on her nose! Does she know that you posted that pic?

I've always wanted to do HDDR, but wondered if it's worth it. I'm glad you went & posted all the pics. Yours is the 1st trip report that I've seen with someone going.
It looks like a lot of fun!

I love what you said about it's just spending time with family that made it fun.
You have great kids! Hopefully, my kids will be the same way once they are teenagers & still love being around family too!

:rotfl2: and :lmao: That's the best one yet! I look very much like those guys after I get through Security and have to put myself "back together". If only that picture had an x-ray machine and a metal detector off to the side.

Ha ha! I suppose "throw up" doesn't exactly convey a pretty picture does it? I'm sure lots of time goes into your updates too Glenn! They're very witty. Particulary the moist references.:laughing:

Hmmm, how to answer this. When I'm at work, practically no time at all goes into them!

Hmm, you may have a point about the chicken pox. Though perhaps they contracted it from some seedy hotel bed they slept on while on the open trail? Maybe that's how they got bed bugs too?;)

Mom always said to watch out for those seedy hotels while on the open trail.

What?!?! James' head again?? Ugh, Glenn I'm going to have to ask you to please shave his head for your next Disney trip. It's not the first time it's foiled my Judy count!;)

I don't know if you remember, but early on in the trip report I said I was disappointed that he didn't get a haircut before the trip. Now you are too!

I know, right? Siding with Marv is always a gamble. And it bit me in the butt yet again.:headache: Though I shouldn't really complain since technically I posted before him. Still...

You did post first...so yeah, he should have known better!

Glenn! *points finger* I am so disappointed in the lack of food porn. Tsk tsk! :rotfl2:

Believe me, no one was more surprised and disappointed than me! But I guess it says we were having fun.

Great pictures from Hoop! It looks like you had great seats. That cowboy picture is interesting to say the least. And in the men's bathroom no less. You'd think girls would rather see a bunch of cowboys getted dressed... :confused3

It was a good time and the seats were great.

I know I don't need to see cowboys getting dressed. I won't speak for you ladies.

Great update!
The cornbread & salad looks good!

Thanks. Yes they were good...wish I could have shown you some of the other food items as well!

Marlene looks beautiful even with sauce on her nose! Does she know that you posted that pic?

Know that I posted it? She doesn't even know it exists! :rotfl2:

I love what you said about it's just spending time with family that made it fun.

I have a feeling they will. (Especially if you keep taking them to Disney on a regular basis! )

I guess we found out that we’re not sangria people. Where’s a Bud Lite Lime when you need it, right?
this has to be the smartest thing you have ever typed.

enjoyed the update, i think it would be fun to do that again, i have been there but when i was way younger than james so i dont remmeber it.

what night was that you went there?

wondering if we were around the campground that evening.

even though you did not have any food pics, i liked all the show pics...

i do have to ask though, would you do cat. 1 seats again, how did you like being that close to the stage? would you think that you would have liked seats back a little farther to see the whole stage better?

just wondering so i know for whenever we go.

So many pictures! You must have had a great time. I haven't seen that show since I was a kid and we used to stay in the old trailers at Fort Wilderness. I remember it being pretty fun, though. Hey, did you get to see the lawnmower tree nearby?

For the record, I most definitely would NOT have told Marlene about the bbq sauce on her nose.

And I think the picture in the bathroom looks like they suddenly were attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes. Or maybe it's an outtake from Blazing Saddles? :confused3
