I lost around 500 dollars when I was in the Navy, me and a freind was painting the town in Hollywood Ca, and I come up with all my money missing, we had to beg and borrow enough money to get back to San Fransisco for duty the next day

My boss and I lost $60k at work today.
Er. Misplaced.

It was just the two of us and we were running around like chickens with our heads cut off.. and couldn't remember where we'd put the money. :rotfl:

$460. It was right before a Disney trip, too. I had it in cash for easy spending and I still don't know what happened to it.

I lost it going from the bank, to Cracker Barrel, to Target. Somewhere in there, it was gone.

It still bothers me. Why did you bring it up?? :guilty:

oh this one hurts...I lost 8k in Philly stopping for a stupid cheesesteak sandwich. I was carrying the money for a work project on the airplane back to LA (I am used to carrying large amts of cash for work) and when we stopped I got spooked by someone and distracted and managed to leave my purse in a hurry to get in the car. Dont ask me how I did that...I still dont know to this day...

Of course by the time we went back the purse was gone. It was found about an hour later and of course all the money was gone...

It was a very hard lesson learned. Police involved. Missed my flight...

all for a stupid sandwich...never again...

another time I had an employee steal 20k out of the office safe. He is now in prison. I am supposed to get it paid back, but I am not holding my breath...

This one just pissed me off. I went to every court date to make sure he paid for it. He was into drugs and I had no idea....

We had someone once steal from the local community sports group. The secretary took over 10K and when they found out they called her in and told her she had one week to bring the money back or they would press charges. She brought the money back and they never pressed charges.

Did she at least show ya a good time:laughing:

Years ago, I left my bag on a bus once while on vacation and it had $1,500 in it!! Would you believe the bus driver went back to his station (it was his last run for the night), found it and turned it all in?? I was so happy, and I rewarded him, and wrote a nice letter to his company about him and how honest he was! I don't know why the heck I was carrying so much cash around, but I no longer do that.

Never lost or had any money stolen - wow. And I leave my purse in my car with it unlocked all the time! I did, however, find $40 getting into a NYC cab!

None - that I can recall.. Thank goodness! :goodvibes

I had $220 stolen. I had left my purse under the seat of my car in my driveway. Someone broke into it in the middle of the night and by the time I reported my check card stolen the next day (7 or 8 a.m.) the person had already charged $220 worth of stuff. The bank reimbursed me but it still makes me feel bad that the bank ate it when it was my fault.

Luckily on $40. Although the creep part is that someone stole it from my hotel room while my friends and I were sleeping...glad that's all they took though!

About 3000 dollars when I was in Las Vegas in January. Won it at the Casino though, and after I cashed in the chips I went to the restaurant with a friend. Got up, went to the bathroom, my friends went to eat at the buffet, and by the time we all got back, my purse was missing. Funny, I was and still am more upset about losing the purse, especially having to cancel all my credit cards, get a new passport (I travel abroad frequently), and a new driver's license. Just one big pain more than anything.

One time we were selling a huge amount of items at a community yard sale, so much stuff that we had to rent a u-haul to get it to the 2 spaces we rented to sell it.

Well we did great--sold about 3/4 of the items.

We came home and were relaxing for a little bit when the doorbell rings. It was the neighbor across the street coming to return our money. ???? It turns out our oldest DD who was about 4 at the time had been passing out the cash we made thru the screen door in the family room to the neighborhood kids!!!

One family who had 3 kids who received some of the money said that their kids never got a dime and refused to give the money back so we ended up losing just over $400 to them.

One time in college I lost my purse and it was right after I had gotten paid. The purse was turned in and I was like thank God someone honest found it and turned it in! But, when I opened it, everything was there except my money. $600 two weeks of work..... gone:sad1:. That was my rent and car payment. I was devistated that someone could be so evil. I think that was the first time in my life that I had an earthshattering moment where I realized just how horrible some people can be. My parents helped me pay off everything that needed to be paid that month but my trust in others was ruined for a long time after that....:sad2:
