Any obsessive people out there who can give me some tips on how to get the most out of AK vouchers. Hubby is a big eater so buying the children's ones will not do. He will eat all of his and part of mine. If only he would gain weight from doing so and then I would not have to hate him. LOL

Ok, here are words of wisdom coming from the wife of the man who considers buffet's something to be "conquered".

To get the most bang for your buck, use your vouchers at either Flame Tree BBQ or Tusker House. We tried Tusker once, and I didn't care for it, so we always go to Flame Tree. We both get ribs which come with baked beans, corn, corn bread, and a drink. It is A LOT of food. DD and I always share (we still can't finish) and DH usually finishes his and is pleasantly full.

After the lunch you still have two coupons left, one for drink, one for snack (popcorn or ice cream). Skip the popcorn and premade ice cream and head for the soft serve places. You can get a soft serve cone with the coupon! What a deal! In addition, we always get bottled waters and usually end up bringing one back to the room for later.

All in all we usually save about $4 pp with the vouchers. It's a really great deal!

Erin :D

We love the

1/2 Rotisserie Chicken served with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables $7.99 at Tusker House...We shared and were quite full...

I've heard the Pizza place is good as well. DD doesn't like PB&J or mac & cheese. I wonder if I could get a kid's voucher? I am a very small eater or I could just share with DH.

I get the kids voucher and get the pizza and DH gets the adult one for BBQ or Tusker House...No problem ever... :p

about how many ribs are on the rib meal, enough to share or only 2 0r 3..we shared the kids pizza meal and paid for a dessert pizza to split as well yummm and were plenty full

mrsltg. I bet my hubby could outeat yours. LOL He once spent six hours at the Boston Lobster Feast and now my sister refuses to go to a buffet with him. He is bad enough at a regular restaurant. I often take a book with me. I am overweight, he is not. Life is NOT fair!! LOL

Thank you all for so many ideas on what to do. One more question, do you get a drink with your meal AND a another drink later to go with the ice cream?

Yes - One drink is with your meal and another one is for later. We also usually get bottled water as the "snack" drink and take it back to our room with us. Just don't leave it until too late to get that snack, though, because we've desperately hunted for a popcorn vendor for DD to no avail shortly before park closing.

We have gotten the vouchers and they are great. We use them at Tusker House and usually get the roasted chicken w/ mashed potatos and green beans. They we get ice cream, use one voucher for either bottled water or a soda, depending on how hot it is. When you add it all up, it comes out to a pretty good deal... just order the most expensive things possible...lol!

Are these the meal vouchers that I have heard about that you buy before you go or is this something different? Why are they specific to just AK?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thank you all!! These vouchers are a much better deal that I had previously thought, with getting a drink with the entree and another later. This is on the list for our next visit for sure. Wish they had something similar for the other parks. I have read about coupons and such but have never been there when such was being handed out.

Off to make more Disney plans. Is my hobby. LOL

You can buy them at the customer service desk @ AK or you can buy them when you want to dine. Just say you wish to buy the meal plus cert Adult /childs. They are great value. I wish they would extend the vouchers to all the parks!

the other meal vouchers you have to purchase via hotwire or someplace before you go...this you buy at one of the tusker house/pizzafari/flametree type counter places in ak. they cost about the same but the pre purchased ones give you an entree, drink dessert tax and tip, the ak ones an entree & drink then 2 coupons 1 for another drink and 1 for an ice cream or pop corn later. you have to use the ak ones on the day of purchase and everything at only ak( can't use it for a drink later at say mgm) imo both are good deals, just a little different. we used the aks for ak and q/c( the other ones) for other places(mostly resort food courts)

Thanks for the info. I have not heard of these, but will definitely be on the look out for them on our next trip.

You guys are the best.::yes::

Remedial Meal Planning 101

I have never used vouchers so please clarify since I'm a little slow on the subject.

Can I buy them at AKL at check-in or at Tusker House/Pizzafari, etc...?

I don't think you can buy them at AKL.I believe they are available at Flame Tree Barbecue,Tusker House,Pizzafari and AK Guest Services.I am not sure about Restaurantasorus, but I believe they are available there also. You can buy them at the counter as you place your order.I bought one at Flame Tree in April and thought it was a good deal.:D

Thanks for clarifying, I got AK guest services mixed up in my head with AKL guest services.
