Mosquitos?

I was surprised to see so many posts a few weeks back about people getting bug bites as I’ve never got a single bite in 8 trips. Is this still a problem? We arrive Wednesday and just wondering if people are getting bitten. Any recent experiences?

Just there last week and didn't see a single mosquito...though I wasn't paying attention to look for them...but I can say nobody in our family got bitten or said anything about them.

I saw a couple which surprised me! I had a couple of bites, too. I've never had that issue at Disney before.

Never had a mosquito problem ever ever. The only bug infestation we experienced were the love bugs (Sept/Oct) who do not bite, but can be a nuisance.

It is likely that those threads were from trips during or between tropical storms/hurricanes that happened earlier this fall. Heavy rains tend to negate pest control measures. I would believe that they are no longer an issue.

Funny you mention this... I've been to WDW three times in the past year (Dec, Feb, and June) and don't think I had one single bug bite... and can't remember any in my past trips in May and Sept. But I was there two weeks ago (second week of Nov) and got a bunch of bug bites. I don't know what type of bug they were.

My family was there this past week and my son and I got several bites. They were the size of mosquito bites but I can’t swear that was what they were. They were very itchy!

We were there 11/8-11/13 and I swear that we didn't even see a bug... no bites here!

11/10 - 11/19 and we saw mosquitoes ALL OVER THE PLACE at Contemporary and Polynesian at dusk. We all got a few bites, which was surprisingly low based on the number of skeeters we saw near Contemporary boat docks.

Was there 11/22 - 11/26 and saw a mosquito after it bit me. I also remember seeing a sign about mosquito control at either our off-site hotel or at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center, Downtown Disney, or Epcot as those were the places we visited.

I have been to Disney 20+ times and have never been bit. But we were there from 11/10-11/14 and I received several mosquito bites. We stayed at the AKL for the first time and had lots of animals outside our balcony at night, so that might have been the reason. We also saw several mosquito control signs all around the 4 parks.

Something was definitely different this year. We stayed at Kidani last year in November, and I didn't see a single skeeter.

Thanks. I guess it’s an ongoing problem since many of these reports are recent. Mosquitos loooooooooove me. I’ll pack the bug spray and hope for the best!

We stayed at AKL in March and both DH and I got bug bites. I had never gotten any before and I'm not completely convinced they were mosquito bites. We both happened to get bumps on the backs of our necks and around our faces/ears. When I looked it up online it seemed similar to bed bugs, but I'm really not sure. I do know that AKL didn't provide bug spray and we did a split stay with POR who did provide bug spray in our room.

You will be fine at the parks, but if you're staying onsite at one of the resorts that has a lot of trees then mosquitoes are possible

My daughter and I were there 11/10-11/19 and while, as usual I didn't get bit, my daughter has her foot completely bitten up. We've never had that before and also noticed bigger then normal swarms of the "blind mosquitoes" compered to other years! Talking with a one of the ferry crew members, he was saying because they've had warmer then normal nights recently they've been seeing more of them. At least those ones don't bite and die after a few hours.
