Mosquitos in October?

I hate to bring this up....but since it's Disneyland and not in Disney World (there's another thread in that section about this), are there mosquito issues at Disneyland in October? I'll be nearing my third trimester when we visit. I grew up in California (central), and never had issues with them, but am wondering if Southern CA may be different?

Thank you!!

We've visited probably 10 times easily in past Octobers. We've never encountered issues with mosquitoes, to be honest. Flies occasionally around food and those tiny little gnats here & there, but really - I don't think I've ever used bug spray before leaving the hotel, and I can't even recall a time when any of the 4 of my family were bitten at DL. In about 20 trips to California, in fact, I've NEVER been bitten by a mosquito - and I'm a mosquito magnet!

Disney does a great job - I would almost guarantee that they have flying insect sprays they use in the parks regularly. If I get bit by a mosquito, that area swells up the size of a grapefruit, so I'm VERY aware of what's buzzing around me. Outside of DLR? That's another story. Mosquitoes not so much - but the sand flies, my goodness, the sand flies are AWFUL if you go near the beach - they do bite! If you are near a beach, bring bug spray/Avon Skin-so-Soft since pregnant :-)

I've been numerous times in Oct and have never seen a mosquito or any other bugs.

We'v never had any problem with any kind of bugs at DLR. I would expect that they spray the entire resort regularly.

I'm a mosquito magnate and have never been bitten by a mosquito at Disneyland.

However, if you are concerned about what I suspect you are concerned about here is a link to the CDC map showing the areas where the type of mosquito that spreads the disease is ESTIMATED to be and that does include the Disneyland area. These are NOT mosquitoes confirmed to be actually carrying the disease, they are just the type that have the ability to. http://www.cdc.gov/zika/vector/range.html

Personally, I'd still be bathing in bug spray. The risk, while tiny, would warrant extra precaution from me given the consequences could be so great.

Thank you all so much! I will still be wearing bug spray just in case. We'll be staying at The Grand, so I imagine there aren't many mosquitos by the pool area as well. Thanks again!

We have been to Disneyland 100s of times all throughout the year and live in Southern California and we have never been bitten by mosquitos. And I predominantly spend my working days outside. It's really not an issue here.

There are mosquitoes in Orange County, California. Mosquitoes need relatively stagnant water for larvae to develop, and in urban areas they may develop when rain fills wheelbarrows, holes in the ground, etc. The more rural areas might have more of them. However, it's not going to be a huge thing in October in a climate like Orange County. It's not impossible for mosquitoes to be around, but I wouldn't worry about it. In that kind of climate they'll tend to be more active in the warmer months.

Thank you! I've been worried about it with everything going on with Zika. You have all eased my mind a lot!

FL is tropical, So Cal isn't.

I don't remember the last time I saw a mosquito.

Disney does a great job with mosquitos. I have had issues with mosquitos in So Cal (Newport Beach!!!) And we have them up north in northern CA. But even with all the water, NEVER had a problem at Disneyland Resort.

I've been to DL many times in Oct and as far as I'm concerned, mosquitos may as well not even exist there. I've never seen one, never been bitten by one.

Wherever you live probably has more mosquitos than Anaheim does. So if you are not afraid to walk outside your house tonight without bug spray, you will not likely need it at DL.

Don

Yeah...mosquitoes are nothing I have ever experienced at any Disney park

One reason I love our trips to DLR is not having to worry about biting bugs. I can manage to get bitten just about anywhere else, but have never had even one bite at DLR.
