@pktbMouse thanks. Great advice. I was taking a daily antihistamine for hayfever, it contains cetirizine but I'll look at benedryl instead for over there. Thanks for the kind offer too. I'm hoping I'll be able to pick up what we need from a pharmacy or Walmart

Just an FYI, Benadryl will put you to sleep. It's the same ingredient that they use in those over-the-counter sleep aids (night time pain relievers such a NyQuil or Tylenol PM, or the medications that are basically the night time pain relievers without the pain relief part, like ZzzQuil, for example). It's very good for allergic reactions, but severe drowsiness is a common side effect.

If you have bites on your feet that itch, an aspirin crushed in water and rubbed on the itchy place works wonders. Also Avon makes a product called Skin So Soft that is a natural insect repellent. It's not advertised as such, but it works.
