Can anyone tell me which form of Vitamin B is supposed to be repellent to mossies? I think it's either B1 or B6 - I remember reading about it somewhere, but can't remember where, or which one it was! It is supposed to make you smell unpleasant to mossies, so they don't bite you. Also, is it 1 week before you travel that it's suggested you start taking the tablets; and how many mg/day is best?
Many thanks for any info.

Sorry I don't have the 'technical' info you ask, but I do know that I've heard eating Marmite can help keep the mozzies at bay ;)

(I think that might be B12, but I'm not sure)

You can take Garlic tablets, the smell gets in to your skin, humans can't smell it, but animals can, I take a garlic tablet a day anyway because its good for your heart.

I've eaten marmite all my life and I still get eaten alive!! Maybe it's just the Florida mossies that aren't used to marmite, I'll have to take some with me next time.:D

I can't live without my daily fix of Marmite. Yummy!!
I always take my jar wherever I go on holiday and 'touch wood'
I haven't been eaten alive- mind you, I've got no friends either!!
Marmite is definatly **MY MATE**( the only one I do have )

We have used Avon's Skin So Soft our last trip it smells nice got the tip in the Brit's Guide we werent bothered buy any kind of bugs even mosquito's and the kids didn't mind putting it on. It must work because the first time we went we used proper mosquito repellent and got bitten.:D

If you don't like Marmite, then you can get yeast extract tablets that have a lot of Vitamin B in them.

Doesn't beer have a lot of vitamin B in too :)

Annie - which skin so soft fragrance did you buy as I see there are a few and don't know which one to try. I'm bothered a lot by mossies at home

TIA

Another Marmite eater - it's a free food on my diet and I seem to be eating it out of the jar ;)

Sam, it's the original fragrance - "Woodland Fresh" - that they don't like! We use this too and it does work!
As well as the Avon I'd also recommend taking Jungle Formula Roll On which is really quick to apply.
Sue, I really wouldn't rely on a vitamin - I've been to India several times and take a course of vitamins so that I am taking 100% RDA of all the B group and it has never stopped Mossies biting me!

Thanks for all the info. Love Marmite though DH and 1 of 2 DS's hate it!
Have got some Avon Skin So Soft Woodland Fresh, and have heard Citronella Oil also works. If I can just find out which Vitamin B it is, those mossies are going to starve! We should smell interesting too!
