Mosh Pits (Dangerous?) Update on Page 3

I cant see why a girl would WANT to be in a mosh pit in the first place--- i have been to tons of concerts in the past- Slayer- Megadeth (blast from the past!) Metallica, WHITE zombie (another blast), pantera and many more...

i would LOVE to sit up in the seats and watch down on the people doing their thing. 99% of them were guys.

and as far as a girl crowd surfing-- ummmm... i have seen plenty of girls getting "felt up" while the guys are "passing them around"! not fun!

I agree, I want NOTHING to do with being in or near a pit. And I've also seen a lot of chicks get grabbed while crowd surfing. I've seen them come over the rail with no shirt on even.

I was at a Pantera show at the Collesium in Dallas. This floor of this venue is a hockey/ice rink. They cover the floor with plywood, etc. Well, the folks on the floor were pulling the wood up and passing it forward. These are pretty big sheets of plywood, it looked like it was their job. At one point, there was one particular piece of wood with a fire going on it, and two guy dancing around it. Needless to say, the mosh pit looked like a lot more fun on ice

Why do I have ABSOLUTELY no problem believing this? It sounds like one of those shows where you wanted to watch the band, but the show in the pit was like a train wreck, you couldn't stop watching.

I spent a rather inebriated night with the guys from Pantera (except Phil, I don't know whot [oops, was that a Freudian slip?] he was doing at the time) when I was working for Sepultura and they showed up at the show. When you were with those guys there was no such thing as "thanks, I've had enough."

I was with Shinedown the night Dime was killed.

The craziest mosh pit I was in was the time we all sat in a circle and sang Kumbaya - man it was INSANE! I'm sure this is the type of mosh pit Ashli is in.

I got hit in the head with a boot in a mosh pit (several years ago), not seriously hurt, but not feeling good! I think they can be very dangerous, plus sometimes once you are in it can be hard to get out because of the crowd.

Ashli called tonight and she was just so excited because she had just gotten off the stage with Audio A! This is the second time she's got to sing with them on stage, the first time was two years ago at this same concert. I guess 'rocking out' in the mosh pit in front of the stage does have it's benefits, lol.

She also said some guy with a huge camera took several pictures earlier in the day of her while skillet was onstage and then came over and asked her for her name, etc. He told her she was going to be on the front page of the paper tomorrow. We'll be checking it out but I did wonder if a photographer would be able to make the decision on which picture makes the front page, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm a 5'2 female, and back in the day I was 90 pounds dripping wet (significantly more now!!!). I dove headlong into the pit at the Justice tour, Symphony of Destruction, ug, can't remember what Maiden tour, Black album, Danzig, Anthrax, and of course local bands, without a thought. I never got seriously injured; one bloody nose, but the guy who elbowed me by accident helped me out of the pit, and plenty of knocks and bruises, but I didn't feel them until the next day. Really it comes down to don't mosh stupid; NEVER go in if you've been drinking or heaven forbid are under the influence of anything else, and pay attention to the "feel" of the pit. A good pit will start to "feel bad" if a fight is going to break out most of the time, and then you get out as quick as you can. a friend of mine didn't trust his gut at a Pantera show and got an ice pick in the side.

I wanted to go to that show when they came to the Norva in Norfolk, VA but it sold out QUICK I hear Rob Zombie puts on one heck of a good show. I believe my boyfriend is a pro concert attendee..he's been to quite a few (shinedown, seether, staind, nine inch nails, slipknot, marilyn manson, breaking benjamin and numerous other metal/rock/heavy metal concerts) and he said Rob Zombie was the best followed very closely by slipknot.....Lunatic Luau 10 is a concert with 10 big bands for $20 (mosh pit area/seats)..this year its headliners are Saliva and Puddle of Mudd (not as big a line up as the year before--slipknot, shinedown, etc.) We are planning on going to the Family Values Tour in July (Korn, Stone Sour-Slipknot's lead singer's band--Deftones and Flyleaf) more moshing... and Rob Zombie in the fall....my boyfriend makes sure I stay on the sidelines of the pit so I can get out of I need to..at least he looks out for me while he gets his butt kicked in the mosh pit

DS's GF and I ended up standing in the 1st balcony (no seats at on on floor level at the tabernacle, at least for this show) next to the bar. The "second" show (which actually was the day before, what was suppose to be a down day for the tour) sold about 3/4. I thought I had rather of been at that show until I talked to a friend that was there. Turns out a lot of "kids" (late teens early twenties) did some heavy drugs and were having a orgy in the smoking lounge near the bathrooms (and my 8yr old wonders why she couldn't go LOL)

DS was talking about going to the family values tour, but I think it sold out before he got tickets. I think they are playing here next week. I don't remember for certain, but I know someone I wanted to see was going to be here when I am in Orlando next week. I'd love to see Flyleaf

When I was in highschool, I wanted to be all tough and cool so I always tried to survive the mosh pit at concerts. I am alot smarter now and I usually stay in the back away from all the moshing, My DH used to go in for awhile at some punk rock shows but even he doesn't anymore. He said the problem is that ppl are not moshing but instead abusing eachother and alot of ppl get really hurt. When we were in highschool most of the shows we went to ppl would help eachother up if anyone fell and make sure that the crowd surfers didn't fall on anyone but anymore it's kind of dangerous.

I would bea lil weary about my DD going to a show that I knew would have a mosh pit but then again I have at least another 7-8 years before she will be going to any rock shows

It's funny because my fave band is "bad religion" (more of a reference to the establishment then religion itself, although Greg is no theologist )

I remember seeing them and always kind of knowing when to get my but out of the pit... My Dh and I are kind of die hard fans so we know the lyrics to every single song. If they played a really popular song (21st century digital boy, generator, aginst the grain.....) we got the hell out of there because it usually got ugly, the kiddies think they can hang in the pit when their fave song is playing and then you have these big 80's punk rockers who are bascially smashing them up....

When I was younger I survived the mosh pit at a Pearl Jam concert at Randall's Island in NYC. It was me and 30,000 of my closest freinds and it was crazy.

Eddie Vedder loves to dive into the crowd while he sings and sometimes he even duct tapes his clothes on to keep the crowd from tearing them off. They put on a killer live show... I've seen them 21 times in concert.

I submit photo's to my editor and am as surprised as anybody as to what gets used, so it's doubtful he'd make that decision.

The first time I saw Lacuna Coil back a couple years ago now I thought they were absolutely terrible. In fact we laughed at them. I went with a very open mind to see them again back in April and LOVED them! They did a complete 180! A friend who works at their label sent me a copy of KarmaCode to review and I gave it four stars--not bad for a band I hated two years earlier! (Tooting my horn--some of my photo's were bought by their label and are on either their web site or their myspace site right now, not sure which.) Zombie started a riot here in Orlando back in April, and got into a fistfight with some guy from the audience during the show!

IMHO Flyleaf isn't all that good live, except the bass player who just rocks. I can't believe they aren't having a rough time on the Family Values tour, it just doesn't seem a good match for them at all. I've got shots of them on my web site as well from a couple different shows. The singer (Laci?) is just kind of boring live. I'd MUCH rather see Lzzy Hale from halestorm, now that chica RAWKS!

I've seen Staind over a dozen times, sometimes they are better than others. I didn't like Loser at all, but I really think he's doing a great job with Zombie. You know that Loser is all but kaput, right?

I grew up in Arlington, TX, and remember seeing Darrell and Vinnie Paul all the time when walking home from school. Darrell bought a house not too far from my parents house and had it decorated all crazy like for Christmas one year. The monster hands on the roof were the best. He was one of the nicest guys I've met. I ran into him at Kinko's one time, he was working on a guitar ad and painting it with whiteout, I was cracking up. Very sad what happened to him. I always thought Phil would be the first to go.

I went to a Jars of Clay concert about 6-7 years ago. I was sitting in the handicapped seating, of course, which was 2 rows from the front. I was on the left side and the row I was sitting in, plus the rows in front and in back of me, only had about 4 seats. I was on the inner isle.

Well anyway, when "Flood" came on, no kidding, all hell broke lose. There was a complete rush to the "mosh pit" area and I literally thought I was going to get killed. The next day I was so sore and bruised like you wouldn't believe. I went to this concert thinking it would be pretty tame and I would be safe. Heh, not hardly.

I've seen JOC a couple times, and there's been a bit of a pit, but nothing like at many other shows. Same thing with 12 Stones. Of all the "Christian" bands, you'll find the biggest pits with bands like Demon Hunter and As I Lay Dying.

You want to see the scariest pit you'll ever see, go to a "Sounds of the Underground" tour show.

Well I guess that photographer did know what he was talking about because Ashli was on the front page of the newspaper! My sister lives near the town this concert was held in and I called her today to see if she could pick up a couple newspapers for me!

We also have pictures on Ashli onstage with Audio A. Ashli is just so excited about this whole weekend. She really had a good time.
