Moroccan Oil...Do you use it?

Holy schmoly! I knew I shouldn't have looked this up...I wanted to know where the oil comes from (what the heck is an Argan anyway?). It's a tree...indiginous to Morocco. Apparently very rare and on the endangered species list. The oil comes from the pits of the fruit that grows in the tree.

Wanna know how they get the pits?

Most likely??? Really hope so!

Well.....

We eat food that likely has had poop tossed on in it to help it grow (manure..."fertilizer"....) and we ingest that food after it is "washed"...er...rinsed in water.

So I can't get too grossed out that folks would put remnants of poo in their hair.:rotfl:

Wait i know you think she is just making the oil but look again she is not just making it she used it thats right she is a customer and just look how nice her face is.(lol) Sorry i could not just let that slip away. I would not buy any.

No one is holding a gun to your head and making you buy it.

Plenty of posters here use it and are happy with the results. Can't you just leave well enough alone?

Real Moroccan oil is 100% Argan oil & only comes from Africa.

We bought several bottles back from our last trip & it is wonderful. We still buy it from the shop in Africa.

The items I've looked at in the U.S. have very little if any of the real stuff.

At$9 a bottle I am perfectly happy with my not completely real stuff. It still works wonders on my hair and that is what I care about. :woohoo:

If you are talking about the brand Moroccan Oil, it is not 100% Argan oil. This is the ingredient list for Morrocan Oil.

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Argania Spinoza Kernel Oil (Aragan Oil), Linseed Extract (Linum Usitatissimum), Fragrance (Supplement), D&C Yellow 11, D&C Red 17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha Isomethyl Ionone

Anyway, I just had to check back in and thank everyone on this thread for their helpful posts. I stopped at Sally's beauty supply today and picked up a bottle of One N Only Argan Oil for $9. While this is also not 100% Argan Oil, it is good enough for me right now(and a heckuvalot cheaper than Moroccan Oil brand). I got home and put some on my hair. I looovee the scent of this stuff. And it did leave my hair shiny and cut down the flyaways and frizzies. Tomorrow will be a better test when I'll put it on while my hair is wet. So, if this stuff lives up to my expectations, I'll probably upgrade to the 100% Argan Oil. I think a pp suggested Josie Maran brand.

ETA: I just found this brand. It is Kae line of 100% Organic Argan Oil. Only $31.95 and it comes with a pump spout too.

After reading this thread I tried the Sallys One and Only Shampoo & Conditioner. It made the tub super slippery and all I can say is OUCH. Oh and I ended up with underwhelming hair to go with a big bruise! I am going to try just the oil next time. The shampoo & conditioner did smell heavanly though!
