I'm putting finishing touches on our touring plans for our first trip to WDW the first full week of January. I've lucked out with some great FP+ selections (thanks to a lot of the great info and tips here! :thumbsup2), but have a few questions about early-morning wait times.

We have an 8:15 reservation for my DD6 at BBB when the park opens at 9 (no EMH). On this day, we have our FP+ for 7DMT, Enchanted Tales, and Anna & Elsa in the afternoon. My plan is to do much of the other parts of new Fantasyland before lunch.

My plan is to go straight to Ariel's Grotto from BBB, but that may be closer to official opening time than actual rope drop. We'll then follow with the LM ride, Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, etc. So here's my question (yeah, I know, very slow wind up! :hourglass):

What are wait times like for Ariel's Grotto M&G in the first hour or so after opening?

We visited Ariel at her grotto at that time of the morning on October 2, and again on October 8. The first time we had to wait for one other family to finish up, the second time there was no line at all. Based on my (admittedly anecdotal) evidence, you should be fine!

We went on a non-EMH day. We had no wait for Tomorrowland Speedway, Ariel (one family ahead of us), Dumbo twice, and Barnstormer. Our first wait was at 9:40 for Minnie and Daisy.

We went at regular rope drop (non emh). sat in Mid oct and crowd was about 6-7/10. Rode PP then headed over to meet Ariel. We had to wait for one other family. Then we rode under the sea, barnstormer, meet all the characters in the circus tent, dumbo and teacups. By the time we were done that it was around 10:45 and the lines were picking up

This all helps - thanks! My hope was to get quite a bit done before lunch (hoping for a FP+ for BoG!), and this sounds like that's feasible. We're also hoping to not rush through with a 6 year old, and a grandmother along too.

Thanks this was pretty much my exact question. Didn't go this year. We went last year and are rope droppers leave at lunch and done for the day. So I have been wondering when do we book fastpasses for? afternoon it is!!!

If you have any plans at all to ride Peter Pan or Pooh, I would do those first before heading over to meet Ariel.
