Hi All-
I began Atkins last September and have never looked back. I love the change in my body, but most of all, I love the change in my energy levels! Having said that, I hope that the information I'm about to give helps someone else...
I am about 2 months pregnant with my second baby. It has been hellacious. I thought I was sick with my daughter - Ha! I tried to stick to my low carb eating, but a high fat diet does not sit well on a queasy stomach. I tried veggies, but they would only leave me hungry again in an hour or so, and as soon as I would allow my stomach to empty, the nausea returned. I reluctantly opened a box of Wheat Thins. Trust me, I am NOT trying to loose weight now, but I don't want to go back to eating high carb foods and gaining more than just pregnancy weight.
Anywho, the Wheat Thins are helping, so I started to look into other fiber dense dry foods. Wheat or whole grain bread (even a slice) negates morning sickness. Paired with a slice of cheese, I'm getting calcium, fiber, and something easy on my stomach. A cup of oatmeal sweetened with Splenda packs a big fiber punch. I am trying to stay away from Saltines and other "white" crackers, but sometimes they are unavoidable if I really HAVE to eat something quick to avert sickness. Nuts are also a great benefit.
All of this can be applied to any upset stomach, too. Read labels at the supermarket and you may find things that won't blow the plan completely, while still giving you the flexibility to eat lightly on a weak stomach.
As I said, I hope that someone else can use the information that I've picked up in my "trial by fire".
Have a great day!
