Has anyone recently done the morning extra magic hours at the parks and if so how are the crowds.?

We are going May 19 - June 2 and are debating whether to go to the EMH or avoid them. We ended up doing one morning EMH last year in June at MGM and it was packed so we left.

What does "packed" look like to you?
(And what time did you arrive at the EMH?)

I've been to dozen's of AM EMH's and EE's (what they used to be called).

I have never had any trouble whatsoever riding any of the open attractions.

Best time of the day, for SURE.

I think that a good time to visit the AK would be early morning. Has anyone here gone to AK EMH? I have been to AK during regular park hours and the heat is unbearable. My thinking is, while the boys are playing golf, I can trek DD7 over to the AK in the morning then head back to the pool around lunchtime.

:wave2: Any thoughts? :listen:

We got to MGM about 7:30 am for the 8:00 am opening. Packed to me is when the streets are crowded with lots of people and wait times for the few attractions that are open like, Tower and Rockin, quickly go to 30 minutes or more not too long after it opened. Like you only can do may be 1 or 2 rides in the first hour - to me that's packed and not a good morning.

We've done every sort of early entry they have had for over 20 years so know what a nice morning is like and this wasn't. It was overwhelming with people. Just wondering if that was a fluke or if that is what it is normally like. I mean with only some attractions open do lines tend to be shorter or about the same than on a normal opening day within that 1st hour in May.

Thanks

The AK is the best park to do early morning...there isn't a lot of people (even if they are all in the Oasis), the kilimanjaro safari is SO much better, it's not as hot...

The only downside is that you usually don't stay until the parade...at least we don't!

I love EMH :smooth: :wave2:

I loved AK in the early morning, too. We made straight for the safari and it had a very short line. I imagine it'll be even easier to get on the safari quickly shortly after park opening these days, now that most people are probably headed for Everest first!

We were at Disney over Easter week and used the EMH a few times. The Saturday before Easter we went to the MK at 7. It was wonderful. the park was empty. We did everything we wanted, no lines, rode some things twice, even getting stuck on Splash Mountain when it kept stopping, kept us on it for close to 30 minutes, did not really slow us down. We also did Epcot, got there before opening, and had a wonderful time. AK however was a complete mess. They did not check ids, and the place was mobbed. They only had a few gates open and the line just to get in took close to 45 minutes. With good planning we still got to ride all we wanted with no lines, but the park was packed from the moment we entered.
