Morning EMH for MK Advice Please

We are rope drop veterans for normal hours (usually stay off property) but now we are staying on property and wanted to take advantage of EMH at MK one morning. Seeking some strategies to make the most of the hour before the park opens at 9.

My question is, how does EMH entry work? Do people line up at the (what used to be the turnstyles) for the 8am entry?

Is there a mad rush for the typically busy rides?

Do the queue times start to stack up immediately? I hope to avoid wasting the extra hour only to spend most of it waiting in lines for Mine Train or Peter Pan, etc.

Any advice, do's or don't would be greatly appreciated.

My advice, FWIW:
1. GET THERE EARLY if you want to ensure having your choice of what to do first. There will be people waiting in line for entry, yes. Those are the people that understand that the early gets the worm ( well, their specific worm, anyway. Some people do not want that specific worm, YOU have to choose what worm you want.) If emh starts at 8, and you get there at 8:15, you are setting yourself up to wonder why emh is a good thing.

2. If you are not at the front of the pack to get in, and you see that the A-list attractions are already a long wait, don't bother spending that valuable time waiting. Get the OTHER stuff done with lower wait times while everyone else stands in line. When they zig, you zag.

3. Get hoppers.

4. The people w/o hoppers will have to stay at the EMH park. If they feel EMH is a draw to go to that park, then more ppl will go to that park.If there is a reason to draw more ppl to a park, then that park will be busier. I use am emh, then bug out for lunch if the park seems crowded, then I go to a different park in the afternoon. I normally TRY to plan to hop to a park that had emh the previous day, if possible. I assume that other guests would "cross that park off of their list."

5. Get hoppers.

6. GET THERE EARLY. (with hopper tix)

7. If you don't have hoppers, then schedule the low wait stuff in the afternoon after your 3 fp's. You can crush same day FP's while doing the low wait stuff, and when you score good extra fp's, you presumably won't worry about "missing" the low wait stuff. Example: If you're waiting to get into Country Bears, (or even during the show) you can hunt for fp's. If you score something good, but you were going to go to People Mover after the show, then you won't feel bad about not going to People Mover if you scored a BTMR or Splash, or whatever you think would be better. If you schedule the lower wait stuff in the afternoon, you can just hunt for extra fp's.

That's how I do it. We are early risers, and we have hoppers, so AM EMH is pretty much always a must.

Our experience has been that the vast majority of guests go to Mine Train first, so the line length immediately jumps to 30 minutes or so right after rope drop. However, by 8:45, that group has mostly cleared out and the line is actually shorter. There are NO fastpasses during EMH, so as long as you're in the Mine Train line by 8:45 your wait should be relatively short. We ride Peter Pan first, then a couple of other Fantasyland rides (Pooh, Mermaid), Buzz, or Space Mountain, then get in line for Mine Train. Save Small World, Teacups, shows, and other Tomorrowland attractions for after park opening, as those lines tend to be short until 10 or so.

If you can get FP for PP/7D, I'd try not to do them. You'll be able to get quite a bit accomplished if you arrive 15 minutes early and don't go to those.

Don’t forget to check the list of attractions that are open for EMH(Fantasyland and Tomorrowland areas only).

We’ll be doing morning EMH for the first time on our next trip. What time do they start letting resort guests into MK for an 8:00 EMH on a day when the park opens for everyone else at 9:00?

About 7:45, although you probably can't get on a ride until right around 8.

As to the OP's question, I'd skip Mine Train and Peter Pan for a morning EMH unless you are one of the very first in the park. I hate having to wait in any line first thing in the morning and the lines for both those will build much faster than anything else and you'll spend the entire first hour just doing these rides, or maybe even just one of them. Last time we did a morning EMH we rode Space Mountain first without any wait, then rode Buzz Lightyear twice, then I think we did Pooh and the hour was about up so we walked over towards Adventureland so we could be one of the first on Splash and Big Thunder.
