Morning EMH and FPs

Went to AK a couple of years ago (in the days when they did early morning entry only) and tried out the extra magic hour. We did not enjoy the experience. Everyone else did the same thing and all crowded onto the handful of atttractions open. Once the park was fully open it was way too busy.

One frustrating part, was that the FP machines were not turned on until after normal park opening hours ie after everyone else arrived. I did not mind not using the FP ticket during the first hour but it would have been nice to have the opportunity of taking one to use mid-morning. Had they been switched on earlier then this would have given the disney-resort guests a welcome advantage.

Can anyone tell me whether this is the current policy?

Can't respond to AK in particular but do assume the policy is universal.

We were at MK last week for early EMH and FP were not turned on until after the park opened. Particularily frustrating was that Peter Pan was not operating at the time due to a "technical difficulty". We stopped back twice during emh and once in the first hour the park was officially open and it was still down. By the time we it was open and we were back the wait was 40 or 50 minutes.

While we have only done early entry at MK, our experience has not been similiar. We have found that the crowd is spread out over Fantasyland and Tomorrowland and virtually no wait for that hour. And haven't seen the crowd really come until 11 or so (which we find on a typical day). From what I remember, AK doesn't have that many attractions open for EMH and that may be the difference.

Maybe it depends on the season??

We only travel when school is out(peak season). We've always been able to get FP during EMH. As matter of fact, there have been times when we've been able to have two FPs at one time.

The CM we chatted up at the Jungle Cruise seemed to indicate that the opening up of the FP machines at this attraction was at his discretion. I found that interesting. I really wanted the fastpasses since our entire party was not yet together, but I guess they typically don't open up the machines until there is a significant wait. We waited 20 minutes.
