Morimoto or Homecomin?

The title kind of says it all. I've been debating back and forth on which place to try. I've read review after review. I know they're very different places. I'm looking to eat lunch at one of them. Right now I have an adr for Homecomin, but I go back and forth on trading it out for Morimoto. It will be my husband and I with my then 3 year old. He eats very well for us and we go out a lot at home. We love Asian food, but my husband really loves fried chicken too. Is this fried chicken going to be so much better than what we can get at home? Our local Thai restaurant closed a couple years ago and we've been deprived ever since. We just have a couple of your typical Chinese takeout restaurants in town now. Someone please help! Thank you so much!

Homecoming is amazing. Keep it.
The fried chicken is absolutely delicious and the hummingbird cake for dessert.. Best dessert we've ever had!
We have eaten here twice & plan on going back

I'm going to be no help as both are really good. Homecoming is definitely some of the best southern food I've had and while I didn't have the fried chicken everything was excellent. We only did apps at Morimoto but thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. If I was in your situation I'd likely do Morimoto since you said you can't get much Asian at home. We are the exact opposite here with amazing Asian food of every ethnicity so homecoming is more unique for us

Morimoto. We weren't wowed by the fried chicken at Homecoming--solidly good but not head turning. Still, it was better than the side of mashed potatoes (heavy and with unnecessary bacon folded in) and gravy (heavy and gloppy) and fries my wife got (Wendy's are better). Deviled eggs were above average but inconsistent. Two of the six I'd call very good--the other four were bland. Could have been an off night as all restaurants have them. However, have been to Morimoto's three times with one good meal and two very good meals. Hint: try the buri bop. Excellent. And pair it with their house Torrontes.

We did not think Homecomin' was the "end all". It was good. We had fried green tomatoes, Deviled eggs, Chicken and donuts...No one wants to return this trip. Again, not terrible, just not something we would crave.

Went in January and Homecoming was amazing. Best fried chicken I have ever tasted, however from Australia so other than KFC we don't have a lot of fried chicken. But if we ever get back to WDW homecoming isn't far from the top of this list for restaurants to return to.

We've done both multiple times and they are both good. If I had to decide beyond a coin flip, I'd go with Homecomin only because I really enjoy that type of food. Either way though, you're good.

I'm in the same boat. They both have grab and go counters so I'm thinking we might just get a few things from each! I really can't decide...

I have to agree. Had the fried chicken. We love fried chicken but I guess we aren't trained to the kind of preparation, which I'm sure was excellent, and we much preferred Trail's End or 50's Prime Time fried chicken to HC. Our ignorance maybe?

Have never been to morimoto but plan too next trip.

I can't believe the famous kastoney answered my question! I've read all of your dining reviews! Thanks for the advice!

Homecomin' is solid, not great (as several other posters have said). Almost everything worth eating there is heavy and/or fried.

We didn't like Morimoto that much. Really slow/inattentive service.

STK is far better than either IMO if you are looking for a place to eat in Disney Springs.

Paddlefish is mediocre (in case helpful).

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all of the information! I wish there was time to eat at more places! I'll keep looking, but I think moromoto is looking better. My husband refuses to look at restaurant menus. He says he knows I will do a great job planning and he can find something to eat anywhere.

Thank you! The menu at Paddlefish looks the best, but I have read almost all bad reviews. What does STK stand for? Yes, we need to eat lunch in Disney Springs.

To expound on freshmanjs' comment regarding Paddlefish (and what you've heard as well), I can't recommend Paddlefish, either. Went there a couple of months ago and had poor host/hostess service. Despite being there moments after they opened with ADR in hand and only a few diners present, they ignored our request for a window seat or near a window seat. We passed through the first dining room with three or four tables taken, through the quasi U-shaped dining room, and around to the back service area near one entrance to the kitchen. We politely asked to be moved to a nicer seat and they stuck us against the wall that cut the U-shaped dining room in half, a wobbly (had to be leveled before we could eat) two-top. Food was uneven. Lobster corn dogs were good; crab ceviche was horrible; grilled octopus was just fair. Service was mediocre. In the end, we decided that for Signature prices and experience, this was a fail and not worth a repeat visit. I've since read numerous reviews on a few rating sites with many of the same comments. As a post script, we went back a few weeks later just to hit the rooftop bar. We were ignored. Stood around wondering whether to seat ourselves or not. Walked over to a table by the side of the railing and stood for a minute or two. No one approached even though we could see at least two servers standing around talking, not serving. We walked toward one of them--she was talking to a friend about some issue--and looked around a bit more. Nothing. Server passed right by us. We decided to leave and walked by yet another worker who looked to be a hostess. Nothing. Two visits, two sub-par experiences.

While we've never had Morimoto, I would vote for that before I would vote for Homecoming. It was okay. Nothing like I was expecting. I was expecting "blow your mind amazing" fried chicken. It left us very underwhelmed. One and done for us. I'm sure Morimoto will make our list at some point. I've heard great things about the Boathouse, too.

Does Homecomin' accept Disney gift cards for payment? Thanks!

I haven't had Homecomin', just because I don't go to Disney World to have southern food, since I am from the South. lol. But Morimoto is absolutely beautiful inside and the food was great! I loved it.
