We have been to Morimoto in Philly. We really enjoyed it. Hubby is picking Morimoto Asia in DS for his bday dinner. Will we be disappointed? The sushi menu on the Disney site just shows a couple of rolls. Is it safe to assume there will be more offerings? Thanks!

Just had the peking duck at the DS location and almost licked the plate. Reminded me of the old Duck Changs in Northern Virginia. I think even better though, if that is possible. Meat that melted in your mouth, skin paper thin and so very crispy. It was outstanding. Havent been to Philly to compare though!

Oh, and the waiter suggested we come for sushi sometime, as they get up to 25-30 fresh fish species a day?!

I have had terrific meals at Morimoto in Philly, but none greater than the omakase at Morimoto Asia in late October. It was as good as my dinner prepared by Morimoto himself, years ago.

If you want a truly special meal, I highly recommend booking this special dinner. It earned a place in my personal top 10 lifetime meals...and i've been fortunate enough to have had hundreds of exceptional dinners. Even if you don't book the omakase, I recommend sitting at the upstairs sushi bar. Don't judge their offerings by just looking at the menu posted online!

My husband would definitely do the omakase but it wouldn't work for me. Would they let only him do it?

We have been to both locations and prefer Morimoto Asia by far. We make it a point to visit the Disney Springs location every time we visit WDW. I am guessing that your husband will be pleased with his choice. Enjoy!

Of all of the new restaurants in Disney Springs, Morimoto is the one that lives up fully to its reputation. You will get a great meal there.

Living in Philly, I have been to both and I think they are pretty on par. In fact I would agree with several posters that I liked Morimoto Asia a bit more! Both were fabulous though and I think you will really enjoy Morimoto Asia if you liked ours in Philly. I have had the sushi there and it's always been very delicious. I also went wild and had the wagyu beef which while definitely a splurge, was FANTASTIC. Highly recommend!!

Edited to add: I do not think you'll be disappointed in the sushi there either. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly how much variety there was but all the sushi I had there was simply delicious. I think you and your husband will love it and I hope he has a wonderful birthday!

I was able to book 1 omakase and 1 a la carte. Yay!
Hooray! I hope he enjoys it as much as I did. I feel guilty for describing a $150 dinner as a "bargain" but it was the best bang for the buck meal I've had in a long time; and one of the best meals period, regardless of cost. I almost didn't eat there because there are a surprising number of negative reviews on Yelp (not for omakase; just general reviews), but I am glad that I took a chance. The title of my omakase review was "three hours of bliss," so if you don't want to be there until 10:30-11:00, then you may want to start earlier. The time flew by because the meal was so well paced and "theatrical" (since it is prepared in front of you).
