Myself (Vicki): Planned this trip long before Lee knew about it
Husband Lee: Finally gave in to my sick Disney obsession (like he had a choice)
The Children -
Alex (8): - Not so adventurous and wanted to know before every ride if it was fast and goes up and down
Sydney (6) Hugged all characters like they were long lost sorority sisters
Allyson (4) Dug all the rides (including the ones the older two didnt), but closed her eyes and pretended she was asleep whenever we had a character encounter.
Grandma (my mom) Was a trooper all the way! Probably would have ridden more scary rides if those pesky grandchildren werent hogging all the attention.
Day 1 Friday, Sept. 27
Well, the plan to leave immediately after the kids got out of school at 3pm was scrapped around 2pm. I was hell-bent on leaving a perfectly clean house with not a stitch of laundry sitting anywhere. Lee still had some real work to do so wasnt available until early afternoon. But, alas, the van was finally loaded and kids strapped in and we pulled out of the driveway by around 5pm. It would be a very long drive to Lafayette, LA. We arrived in Lafayette and stayed in a really nice 3 bed, 2 bedroom suite at La Quinta. I highly recommend this location if anyone from Texas is making the drive. Its very close to I-10, very clean and had waffle makers in the lobby for breakfast!
Day 2 Saturday, Sept. 28
Left the next morning by 8:30. Had about an hour backup on the bridge over the Mississippi River. That and about a dozen potty/gas/drive-thru stops got us to All Stars Music at around 1am Sunday morning. YIPPEE!! Finally here. My children had been amazingly patient and were so excited to be here finally. Allyson was starting to lose her patience and we managed to keep her impending meltdown at bay by promising to let her be the first one to walk in the AS lobby. (Plus she also had to go potty). At 1 in the morning I was surprised that there were two other women checking in also. Now I dont have many gripes about our vacation because it went really well. However, I cant imagine why AS does not have a luggage cart for each building (or at least one was not offered to us). Since our plan was to have them re-locate our bags to Beach Club Villas the next morning, we had to unload the van next to the curb, then haul all 20 of our bags to the rooms in several trips. (We used soft bags instead of suitcases since they were loaded into a canvas carrier that was on top of our van). Not a fun thing to do after driving 16 hours.
Got everyone settled and into bed. Did not set the alarm or ask for a wake up call. Well be up when we get up.
