It's been a while since I needed to purchase travel insurance, soooooooooooo:

having read through older "searched" threads, I am requesting more current info and/or recommendations for which travel insurance company to consider.

The name of the company we last purchased from eludes me. I'm old and forgetful....

THANX!

Alas the one "clearinghouse" of insurance requested that their name be banned, so we can't give you that name. (There's even a sticky thread about it in this forum)

So I would google travel insurance. See what places come up.

Do you keep records on your cruises? Emails? Scrapbooks? Info might be in there if so.

There are several sites that you can use to search for insurance. One that's frequently used has requested not to be linked here. But do a search for "Online Travel Insurance" and it generally is near the top of the list.

I've used them, as well as:
https://www.squaremouth.com/

and
https://tripinsurancestore.com/

I can say that we used Allianz and on a previous trip (not a cruise) even had a claim with them and they paid our claim quickly and fairly.

If you're a USAA member, you can get travel insurance via a company they partner with.

When you are given a quote.... ask them to for a second quote with the HIGHEST deductible. You will find significant savings if you don't plan to be using travel insurance for trivial stuff.

We have had great experience with CSA Travel Protection (found them on sqauremouth with the best coverages /we have a pre existing condition issue) and affordable pricing) but buy direct because if you have a claim you will be working directly with the insurance company. Their customer service during decision making was helpful so call them and we have had claims that are paid fast. For some reason they have more policies from the call center than on the website www.csatravelprotection.com

For all insurance providers, pricing will depend on how far out your trip is, trip cost, age, destination.

i always wonder why the timing of the trip affects prices? is it because they can't "bank" the money for longer periods?
BTW-no pre-existing conditions are involved in my question

Upon purchase, the further you are from departure date the higher the probability of trip cancellation (longer time period to potentially cancel your trip due to an event/issue occurring that forces you to be unable to travel). Disney cruises have a long time between booking & departure because demand is so high. Its not Carnival where you can book the month prior to the cruise. Also, Disney cruises are generally higher cost than other other cruises so warrant a protection of trip costs.

Travel insurance is 2 main buckets of coverages:
1. Trip cancellation coverages: insurance of your $$ investment ; occurs pre trip.
2. IN TRIP coverages--medical, baggage, delays, ; occurs during trip.
