Last night I saw a commercial for a "Bachelor" type show called "More To Love". The single ladies will be only "plus size".
What do you think about the idea of this show? Do you think it will just be a pool of jokes for late night talk shows?
Could it actually be a boost to all the overweight girls that you can still be beautiful if your over a size 6?

No, I think segregating overweight girls out onto their own bachelor-type show is enormously insulting. It does the opposite of boosting one's self-image. It sends the message that if you are over a certain weight you are not good enough for the regular bachelor show. It's plugged as a salute to the plus-sized girls when, in fact, it is the exact opposite.

Agreed. Although I haven't heard of this, why did they have to name it "More to Love"? Just another reason to pick on fat people? I did see a preview for a new dancing show that has plus sized contestants. Again, it just looked like a show to pick on the overweight. I think it is just plain mean, IMO.

I don't understand why anyone, size 2 or size 20, would agree to be on a dating reality show on Fox -- famous for Joe Millionaire and Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? You are basically signing up to be humiliated.

I also agree. How friggin' insulting is the title alone? Size is the last acceptable frontier. You can tell a fat joke but you can't tell a racial joke.

What if they had a show that was for only people who are hispanic or only red-headed or who have handicaps?

Yes, I will be watching.

For those who say it not fair for them to be on a seperate show do you think they would make it far with a regular bachelor.

As a plus size girl, I completely agree. Like we're so bizarre that we can't be mingled in with smaller girls. I think the concept for this show is disgusting.

Well at least the plus sized dance show is based around weight loss like the Biggest Loser. They are supposed to dance their arses off, hence the name of the show.

I won't watch. Nothing to do with weight or anything, I think any of the bachelore shows are ridiculous. I'm not going to help you get your 5 min of fame for being on a reality show.

If they had a decent bachelor they might. There are lots of couples all around the world where the woman is bigger than the man. Clearly it didn't matter to those men.

I don't know why anyone would be on a dating reality show for any network.

But no, I won't watch. I won't watch the regular Bachelor either though so I'm not sure my opinion really counts.

You are right. There just not a lot of men out there like that. I'm plus size and there wasn't many men want to date a plus size girl.:sad2::sad2:

Agreed. I think they're all pretty skeevy.

I never really had any problem finding dates. Of course, I wasn't looking at a pool of Brad Pitt's either.....LOL.....not that I would have turned Brad down if he were interested!!! :rotfl:

I know, but I still think it's mean. I don't like to see people get picked on & that is the impression I got when I saw the clip.

As a plus size girl, no, I won't be watching. I find it insulting. Especially since it sends the message that we shouldn't be mixed in with the "regular" girls and that it also sends the message that we aren't fit to have a totally hot guy be interested in us, it takes a plus size guy to do that.

Aside from the fact that I think these shows are stupid and I don't watch them...why don't they have a 'mix' of different girls on the same show? Is it so outrageous to think that a guy would pick a bright, funny, accomplished woman that's not a size 2? Why must we segregate the siliconed-up, brainless bimbettes from the rest of the female population? Afraid of a little competition that's more than skin deep? :rotfl:

This is a great way to look at it - I totally agree. You would NEVER (and nor should we) see a dating show like the ones you have described.

As a larger girl, it offends me. It just gives further fuel to the fire that if you're not a size 2 and tiny, you're not as desirable, attractive, etc. If they REALLY wanted to make a good statement, they would hire the plus-size girls right along with the skinny minnies in shows the "The Bachelor." But I don't see that day any time soon.

I watched it and didn't see any picking on the sizes. I am a plus sized woman and no way would you catch me in those costumes, shaking my rolls around like that, but I thought the judges were judging on the dancing and not making any snide remarks about their bodies.

I won't be watching the Bachelor-type show. It is a different ball game to me.

Ugh.. absolutely NOT!! I was watching So You Think You Can Dance last night, and saw the preview two or 3 times for that show. It seriously brought out some sort of rage in me.. DBF was rather taken aback and didn't know quite what to say since he's never seen me like that lol. I'm not sure what aspect about it made me so angry - honestly I'm a plus size girl (ps - I hate that term) and I've never really had an issue finding guys to go out with. Sure, I'm not going to get along with every guy but there are PLENTY out there who don't care if a woman is a size 2 or a size 22 and also some who are specifically attracted to bigger girls. ANYway.. I just hate that they're segregating them into one show like that.. ridiculous.

And also, I'm all for that "Dance Your A$$ Off" show, but the one comment that the girl makes really struck a nerve with me.. she says something like "Oh now maybe I can get a boyfriend!" Seriously. SERIOUSLY?! If all a man cares about is that you're a skinner version of your former self, there's some deeper problems there.
