at the Sequoia Lodge they will probably ask you if you'd like to do it, but if they don't, ask them. Sometimes they'll know for the entire duration of your stay whats available, sometimes they'll ask you to check with reception the day before for the next mornings breakfast in the park (we did this once at the Santa Fe and it worked really well, we popped to reception in the evening on our return from the parks and always got the slot of our choice for breakfast in the park the following day).

its certainly better that you do - because obviously one restaurant inside the park, taking guests from 4 onsite hotels, will be busier and has smaller capacity than the onsite restaurant breakfast restaurants.
