I am wondering if staying at the BWV is much different than staying at the actual hotel. It seems to me that we will have all of the same ammenities as anyone staying at the hotel just with more space in our room. Has anyone stayed here with children? Did the kids enjoy it?

Are you staying in a studio or a villa? Are you a DVC member, did you rent the reservation or did you book it directly through Disney?

*If you "rented" the reservation or if you are a DVC member, you will not receive the daily housekeeping service you would if you stayed in the hotel.

*If you booked your package through Disney, you will receive daily housekeeping.

*A studio is a little like a hotel room except that there is only one bed and a pull-out sofa sleeper. You will have a small fridge, a microwave, and a bar/sink area that you would not find in the hotel room.

*If you are staying in the villa, it will include a living room/dining area and a separate bedroom. The bathroom will be quite large and include a big tub separate from the shower. You will find a washing machine too! The villa is so much different then a regular hotel room!

Our first stay as a family with kids was in 2004. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at the BW with my parents. We had no idea what to expect but we were pleasantly suprised. We loved it there and ended up purchasing DVC, 8 months later.

My kids love the Boardwalk Villas.

Thanks you guys! I have booked a 2bd villa for us (my DH, myself, 2 small children, and my mom)through Disney Travel. I feel like I am spending a fortune on this vacation and I just don't want to be disappointed. My biggest concern is spending this much money and wishing that I had stayed in one of the hotels. The hotels that we were considering were the Grand Floridian and the Animal Kingdon Lodge. We are planning on spending 2 nights at AKL because my oldest son is an absolute animal junkie. I think it will be a ton of fun for him. I guess I just want to be sure that I am getting the best bang for my buck. Thanks for all of your input!

You will love the space in the 2 Bedroom villa and you will have daily "mousekeeping" since you booked it through Disney Travel. Two bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a living room/dining are plus a kitchen. :)

I think you made a great choice based on your other choices(smaller rooms) and that your Mom is travelling with you.

A 2 bedroom at the Boardwalk is really a studio room connected to a 1 bedroom villa. So if your Mom was to stay in the studio side she would have her own amenities(bathroom, shower, mini kitchenette, pull-out sofa) and her own door.

The 1 bedroom will have a jacuzzi tub, shower, full size kitchen, 1 bed in the bedroom, pull out sofa in the living area.

We tend to let our kids sleep in the master bedroom and my husband and I use the pull out sofa. One time we had a 2 bedroom just for our own family and the kids loved having there own mini kitchen. They made us breakfast everyday! Imagine a 5 year and 3 year old making breakfast! It was cute but they sure make a mess!
