Okay so I am planning my families first trip to disney world for August 2008. I know its early but I want to be ready. I have more questions so hear it goes

We will be leaving (hopefully) on Aug 25 and Leaving either Sept 2 or 3rd. Should we order our tickets and book are hotel and flights in April or May 2008? Basically how early should we book them

We are planning on staying either at the all star music hotel or all star movies hotel. How many times does the Magical Express go from the hotels to the parks and the parks to the hotels during the day?

When we are ready to leave on the 2nd or 3rd will the magical express be ready to take us to the airport say if our flight was at 10:00 A.M. ?

Thanks!

Book your Disney resort reservations as early as possible -- you can make reservations up to 500 days in the future. There's ABSOLUTELY no advantage to waiting until later to make your resort reservations.

Well, it seems you're confusing 2 different types of transportation.
  • Disney Transport is the buses (and in some cases, boats and monorails) that take guests from resorts to parks and back.
  • Disney's Magical Express (DME) is the free motorcoach transportation from the airport to your resort, and then back.

Disney Transport buses run to and from each theme park about every 15-20 minutes. At either of the All Stars resorts you mentioned, there is a single bus stop. A single bus goes only to a single park, and you wait until you see a bus marked for the destination you want. So, for example, in a typical 20 minute period you'd see about 4 buses (usually more) go by, averaging one every 5 minutes, but each Magic Kingdom bus, for example, would average every 20 minutes. I hope that makes sense.

Disney's Magical Express is basically a 24/7 operation. Early on the morning of the day before you leave, you'll get DME info hanging on your doorknob. In there will be your assigned DME bus pick-up time, which will be about 2.75 to 3 hours prior to your flight time.

You need to make reservations for DME. It's free, but it's not automatic, you must request it and reserve it.
