Is there some strategy to owning at multiple resorts? I haven't figured out the benefit to owning enough points to book what you need at one resort, then buying smaller interests in other resorts, where (as I understand) you can only book 11 months out, up to the number of points you have at that property. Can someone enlighten me?

You can buy a small contract and then bank and borrow to get enough points for a trip every few years at that particular resort. Or you may just want the 11 month advantage during a peak time such as NYE but you only plan to stay in that resort for a couple of nights and then move to another resort for the remainder of your stay.

It takes some organization to own at multiple resorts but it can be a great way to almost gaurantee that you get to stay at your favorites at particular times of the year. Plus you can continue to add on in small increments if you dont want to spend too much cash up front.

We own at two resorts because we like to mix things up a bit and not stay at the same place time and time again. Although now I've got way too many points :rotfl: which my adult children think is a tragedy because they use them now.

We first bought points at OKW - because we had stayed there and loved it (and still do). We bought points at Vero cuz we like to split up a WDW and a Vero vacation and don't want to wait til the 7 mo window for spring break - every time we have stayed there it was sold out and I don't even know how many times we've been there since 1997 when we bought. We also bought at HH cuz we know we want to go there EVERY June and maybe more after we retire - summer is very hard to get because it is a small resort. Just my two cents - I always say buy where you want to stay and if you can't plan ahead - don't buy - you will end up disappointed. We also didn't buy small contracts. We figured out what we would need every year and bought that many points.

:yay:

If you want a GV, then you need to own at a resort that has a GV. If you want to have a BW view, then you need to own at the BW. If you want to stay at VWL for the winter holidays, then you need to own there. If you want AKV Concierge, then you need to own there.

You get a smaller contract, say 75 or 100 points. Bank and borrow and you have 225 or 300 every third year.

So far, we have most of our points at SSR and a small add-on at AKV. We like to keep our points at one location so we can book at 11 months and get as big or small a reservation as we need. We bought AKV so we can have the ability to book Club level.

We will probably add once more to SSR to give all the points we will ever need at that resort. We will probably buy a small contract at the Contemporary Resort to be able book at the 11 month mark for the holidays.

Alot also depends on your travel needs. We are a family of 5 and normally need larger rooms. We plan on taking the kids and eventually thier familes too one day. There are others here that only travel as a couple, maybe taking frinds once in a while.
