My son's check in date is 1/10/11. Where is check in? Is it the same place for everyone? Where is Traditions held?
Where will his training be for Bell Services/Dispatch? Will he need his car to get to and from training or is it mandatory to take their transportation for the training days?

He's bringing his car, we are driving two cars down to get him settled. I was thinking of renting the second car instead of taking ours to drive down and move him in, and then return the rental in florida so my husband and I can fly home at the end of our stay (we will be there for a few days). How much will he need to use a car in the first week that he's there? Is there a lot of running around to be done, besides the supermarket or to buy shoes?

Just trying to get a feel for that first week. I know we won't see him much, and my husband and I do plan to have a couple of days in the parks for ourselves, but I also plan to be "on call" if he needs us to run errands with him, or for him while he's doing his training.

Anything thing you guys can share with this mom to help me from a parents point of view, to prepare for the first few "settle in" days?

TIA!

i am talking to my daughter right now she is reading her acceptance letter to me .she is goinG jan 31 to aug 12.she has to be at vista way apts no later than 12 pm that day. they recommended calling mears transporation. have him send you infoi to get onto his site all unfo is there

Everyone checks in at Vista Way, regardless of where they will be living. If he has a specific preference about where he wants to live, I recommend getting there really early. My roommates arrived at about 7 in the morning. The let us through the gates at Vista around 7:45 and check in actually began around 8 (even though they tell you 9, they know people start coming very early and in many instances will start the check in process early). Here he will find out where he lives and get his apartment keys and housing ID. He will also fill out the information for his parking decal for his car. From there, he will be bussed over to the Casting center to find out his work location, sign up for the payroll card, get fingerprinted, get checked for Disney look guidelines and get his schedule for his first few days of work. Make sure he has all his on boarding paperwork, as this is where he turns it in! Either later on check in day or early the following day, there will be a housing meeting at The Commons. Here the will go over all the housing guidelines.

The next day is typically a day off. The day after that will be Traditions. He will either be the morning or afternoon session. Either way, he will take a bus from is complex that is designated for Traditions to Disney University, which is behind Magic Kingdom. He will also get his company ID this day, which will allow him (only him) to get in and out of the parks.

After that, it varies from person to person. Some people will have a few days off before they begin training, where as others will start right away.

Check in is at the same place for everyone, the Vista Way apartment complex. Traditions is at Disney University, behind Magic Kingdom.

In the first week, the first day is check in, and a housing meeting. The second day is kind of a free day to get settled in, buy whatever you need, etc. The third day is traditions. In the following days we start training for our roles.

I brought my daughter down a little over a year ago and can give a few bits of advice on it. Get there early if possible, everyone is checking in at Vista Way. My daughters roommate who she had been emailing and comparing notes so they didn't double up on things was 30 mins after 12 due to a flight delay. They gave her spot to another girl and she waited for hours while they found a new random spot for her. My daughter took the disney transport on those early training days because she was afraid of getting lost, not knowing the roads yet, and suggests that for everyone now. It is also important they get to know their roommates and perhaps shop together that first time. We took my daughter and 2 from her room and they were able to shareon some things and set up a plan for sharing on some of the groceries and sundries that they followed the rest of the program.Though we stayed available, we didnt see much of her after one run to walmart and the grocery store.
