Hey guys!

So, my DH talked to his boss this morning, and now he has said its up to us if we want to go to Disneyland or Disneyworld! He also said we can stay anywhere we want!!! (this is unbelievable!)

We have been to Disneyland twice in the last few years and never to Disneyworld. I will be 27 weeks pregnant when we go though and it will be in July. We also only have 7 days and two young kids (5 and 21 months when we go).

Should we just head back to Disneyland or should we do Disneyworld?!! Where should we stay?? If we do Disneyland, would it be too greedy to ask for Disneyland Hotel? We could NEVER afford to stay there, and stay at the HOJO when we go.

Thanks for any help! I keep waiting to wake up from this amazing dream!

If you do Disneyworld, you'll probably be doing mostly Magic Kingdom so with no cap on it, I'd say get a monorail resort (Contempary, Grand Floridian, Poly) or at least Wilderness Lodge. They have the best transportation options for strollers, plus they are all close enough to be a short trip.

If 60th Anniversary stuff was not going on in Disneyland I would say go to Disney World. But with the 60th at DL I would say the Disneyland Hotel and Disneyland. If he didn't mean any hotel he wouldn't have said it so I don't think asking for the DLH is too much.

You couldn't pay me enough money to go to Orlando in July at 27 weeks pregnant. No way, no how. But I cannot handle humidity, so... but seriously, I can only imagine it would be miserable. Otherwise, I would say go to WDW since you haven't been. Seven days is a good amount for WDW, and you could stay near the MK in a Deluxe hotel, maybe. If you think you could handle the heat and all, then I say go for it.

I would go with WDW!! but I would hurry since a bit more planning is involved for the east coast.

I found my second trimester of pregnancy to be easy so it may not be too bad. As for the weather in July, Florida vs California they are equally miserable, but then again I do not do well in heat. lol

There really is no wrong answer in this scenario.

I would choose DLR. The Disneyland Hotel is really fun. I would stay there every trip if I could afford it. If your 7 days includes your travel days I would think that is not enough time for a first trip to WDW. Also, I would much prefer CA in July vs FL in July while pregnant or any time for that matter, LOL. We thought the weather was quite comfortable on our July DL trip. The weather is typically way less humid there than in WDW.

Congratulations! Wow, how amazing to have such a hard decision to make. Some questions that would help me give my opinion are where in the country are you? An across the country flight could be tough with kids, though certainly not impossible. Is it 7 days including travel days? Again, based on where you are, if it is a full day of travel each way, that could make a difference.
If he says you can stay anywhere, if you choose DW, pick one of the monorail resorts, why not Grand Floridian if he says anywere. Haha. Likewise, I would pick the Grand Californian if he really means it. You don't get a chance like that often to pick anywhere, and he offered. pixiedust:

But if you pick DW, you need to make plans and get some ADR's booked ASAP. It is not like DL where you don't have to be in a hurry. Several of the most popular restaurants in DW book up the morning of 6 months prior to your trip. Then you have to start figuring out FP+, which park which days. I personally hate this system, but you can still have a Magical time even with these restrictions. I love both parks, and you will have a magical time no matter where you are!!

Thank you so much to all who replied! We live in Vancouver, BC, so Florida is an 8 hour flight with at least one layover, California is a 3 hour flight. We have 7 days including travel days, so really, only 5 park days. I didnt know that about the ADR wdwfan22, so thanks for pointing that out. We were going to go with DL because of lack of time, but then I said to my DH, even if we only see 30% of DW, it might still be nice because its new and fresh. We were JUST at DL in November. But yes, the flight times with a 1 year old does not sound appealing, so that is holding us back. This is probably the best "hard" decision I could be having to make in my life right now though!

You guys all really think we should ask to stay on-site?!!! I just cant get over how expensive it is. For our dates in July to stay at the DLR it is $4400!!!! For our trip in November, EVERYTHING included (flights/hotel/ park tickets/food etc) was $3000!!!!! So to pay that much seems so much to me and I dont want to offend them, but of course it would be such a dream and our only chance to get to stay on-site. My DH and I were just thinking we might say, "it would be amazing to stay as close to the parks as possible but we will let you guys choose where we stay?"

OK, just throwing this out there. But since you live in Vancouver have you ever been on a Disney cruise? That would be so easy for you since the Alaskan cruises leave from there.

sheetz- I did think about that.... I dont know why we havent really considered it, but my DH seems to be apprehensive. He thinks our kids (5 and 1) are too little. To be honest though, neither one of us know that much about the cruises. Neither of us have ever been on a cruise in general.

I would ask for a budget or like you said, give them the option. You certainly don't want to overdo it ensuring that this never gets offered again! Maybe pull some all-inclusive options and ask your husband to run it by the boss and gauge his reaction? Trips to DLR can run from $3000 to $10000 or even more! Let him set the perimeters and your husband can respectfully tell his boss he is so flattered by the offer and he doesn't want to take advantage. If you get the green light then go on-site! And enjoy!!!

Girlfriend - do Disneyland Resort and stay on site!!! What an amazing experience to do that combined with the 60th anniversary stuff. You won't regret it :)

I personally wouldn't worry about flight time with a one year old. I flew with an almost one year old (turned one on the trip) and a four year old to FL to go to WDW. That was from CA. But we do fly a lot, and that wasn't their first flight or my first time with a little one. We are flying to Japan next month, and my kids are just turned 3 and 5. I truly believe the journey shouldn't deter you from the experience because the flight will be over, and you will get through it, and then you have all the fun of your destination to enjoy! :)

Florida in the July humidity would not be my first choice. :crazy2:

Totally agree. I could not handle it, especially pregnant. But some people can, so I do think it's worth exploring.

Me? No way, no how. We will never, and I can say never, visit WDW in the summer.

Because of the summer, and your 2 ed trimester id chose DL and if he said any where, stay at Disneyland hotel. If you were not pregnet and could go anytime (ie Christmas time) id say WDW and one of the monorail resorts.

27 weeks preggo I would definitely go for DLR (short flight, no jetlag). Also favor Grand Cal for shortest walk & breaks mid-day for you both, but especially young ones. If onsite is out of the budget, maybe the new Courtyard by Marriott with waterpark across the street. Brand new/Opening July, but may not be available on your dates. Congrats! Be sure to get a T-shirt and mouse ears for the boss.
